Chapter 7 My Secret
- I held up Cui Youqing's arms in a firm grip, pushing her back forcefully and she stomped back two steps.
- I stood up and looked at the infuriated woman, feeling sad yet angry.
- Not only was she my mother-in-law, she was also the best friend of my mother and my aunt. They had been friends for decades.
- Apart from the man's dedicated companionship, Cui Youqing's care for me was also one of the reasons I fell in love with Feng Shi and was willing to marry him.
- Feng Shi father's identification was unknown. The mother had been suffering a lot in ensuring her son's healthy upbringing. In order to honor her after the wedding, I always accompanied her to buy things and spent time with her.
- After catching Feng Shi and Lin Luoluo red-handed, I brought this matter to her at once. However, instead of siding with me, I was belittled for being a hen who couldn't lay eggs and that I shouldn't have hogged her son long ago.
- Now that I was being beaten, I could hold myself to not returning a blow, but I couldn't swallow this anger.
- “Have some respect, Mdm Cui! It's your good son who cheated in this marriage. Now that he's living with the mistress at home, where else can I live if not outside?!”
- “Where else can you live?” Cui Youqing was cautious of me making a move. She didn't rush forward to hit me again, but looked at me with sinister contempt. “Shi has all your money and properties under control. How are you going to pay for the rental?”
- Cui Youqing looked at me with disdain, and continued, “I heard you spent nearly a million to buy back the earrings your mother left behind. Now that I caught you in such a place, tell me, what shameless deeds are you doing to earn money?”
- I couldn't refute her sharp words. Startled by the dispute between us, the lobby manager hurried over to separate us.
- I didn't say anything to fuel the arrogance in Cui Youqing. Until I left, she was still cursing me with that foul mouth of hers.
- Wasn't I forced to be in this position because of her son?
- I held back my tears and took a cab home. As soon as I closed the door, I bawled my eyes out before drifting off to sleep.
- When I woke up the next day, my eyes were swollen.
- Just when I got some ice from the refrigerator to reduce the swelling, the doorbell rang. I went over to answer it and saw a home delivery courier standing at the door with a box.
- “Ye Huan, Ms. Ye, am I right? There's a package for you. Please sign here.”
- After confirming that I was indeed the receiver, I cluelessly signed for the package, and returned to my room to open it.
- Inside the small box was a light pink translucent sex toy. I was so scared that I almost dropped the box.
- What the hell is this? Clearly, I would never buy such a thing!
- The pent-up sorrow in my heart dissipated somehow at the unexpected “surprise”, but I couldn't figure out what was going on even after racking my brain.
- Just then, my phone rang. I looked at my phone and saw that it was a call from Feng Shi's secretary, Liu Xu.
- I picked up my phone and Liu Xu's businesslike voice sounded.
- “Mrs. Feng, there's a meeting today that you need to attend. Please make your way to the office by 3pm for the meeting.”
- I couldn't help but frown. I hadn't been attending any meeting at the company since I became a full-time wife. Besides, with the conflict between Feng Shi and I, in addition to how I was just a mere figurehead in the company, he wouldn't have called me in for a meeting.
- Could it be related to the thing that uncle said?
- “Is Vice President Chu coming for the meeting?”
- “I don't know.”
- Laden with anxiety, I hung up the call, tossed the box in my hand aside, and wondered if I should talk to my uncle first.
- But I was afraid of creating a false alarm if this matter didn't involve him.
- Eventually, I decided to go to the office first to see how things were before concluding if I should talk to my uncle.
- I arrived at the office before 3pm, and was greeted by Liu Xu who dressed flirtatiously at the entrance, ushering me straight to the conference room.
- The conference room was already packed with employees from middle to senior management of the company. Some of them were even trained by my uncle and my father.
- They feigned ignorance at my presence which obviously showed that they had chosen a side.
- I remained silent and played with my phone, waiting for the meeting to start.
- Feng Shi arrived at about 3pm. He looked at me with unreadable meaning in his eyes, scrutinizing me.
- I creased my brows, remembering about the encounter with Cui Youqing yesterday. Intuitively, I was afraid that Feng Shi had found out about my visit to the hotel.
- “Everyone, be quiet. Today's meeting is an internal company discussion. The main agenda is to decide on Ye Huan's stay or departure. I will discuss with the board of directors after this meeting.”
- Upon hearing Feng Shi's words, my heart thumped.
- What's coming will come.
