Chapter 4 My Secret
- Feng Shi and Lin Luoluo sat in the front rows while I sat a few rows behind them, avoiding contact with them at all cost.
- As the event went halfway, my mother's favorite antique earrings were finally up. The auction began right after the auctioneer finished his introduction on the item.
- The reserve price was three hundred thousand and it shot up fast, probably due to its unconventional design.
- I clutched onto my handbag containing the blank cheque and raised my sign.
- “Eight hundred thousand.”
- Everyone around looked at me as I named my price.
- Well... Logically, nobody would buy back the items that they had donated for the auction.
- A lady sitting next to me suggested, “Mrs. Feng, you can exchange those earrings with another item if you're reluctant to let them go.”
- All my parents' relics were with Feng Shi now, leaving me nothing else besides the cheque in my bag.
- I smiled and spoke in a tone that was loud enough for people around to hear, “Mrs. Chen, this is my mother's favorite pair of earrings. I'm trying to do some good deed for her by donating it and buying it back.”
- Hearing my explanation, no one else raised their signs. Not even those who originally wanted to. If they did so, it was obvious that they wanted to make things difficult for me.
- Furthermore, I added two hundred thousand to the reserve price. Practically, it didn't go against the original intention of the auction.
- On stage, the auctioneer slammed his hammer thrice and with that, the earrings had been auctioned off with the price of eight hundred thousand.
- I took out the blank cheque and wrote the hammer price on it. After that, I quickly went backstage to get the procedures done.
- Then, I made an agreement with Yu Qian's management that I would retrieve the earrings myself after two days. With this done, I left the villa.
- But before I could leave the compound, Feng Shi pulled my arm with full force.
- The man was boiling with anger, “Ye Huan, where did you get the money from? You couldn't have gone as far as borrowed it from the loan shark, could you?!”
- I looked at his somber face and shook off his grasp, “Aren't you fully aware of my financial situation. What if I did borrow money? Are you worried that I might embarrass you?”
- Feng Shi gritted his teeth in anger, “No matter how much you have borrowed, I will settle this trouble for you as long as you agree with the divorce.”
- “Trouble?” I stepped back and looked at him with disdain, “You are the trouble! The only dirt stain in my life!”
- “You!”
- Feng Shi was clearly pissed off by my words. He raised his hand and wanted to slap me. Before he could do so, a guard nearby came up and stopped him.
- I looked at Feng Shi coldly, but my heart felt lighter seeing his twisted face.
- Once I left the villa, I went back to my house instead of the hotel.
- When I was in junior high, my dad wanted me to get a good rest during recess, so he bought me a suite in the high-class district near school.
- Feng Shi detested this place. But this seventy square meter suite had become my only haven.
- Too much had happened today that I felt fagged out. I needed a hot bath to let off some steam.
- Just as I got off the bathtub, I heard the SMS alert.
