Chapter 27 Found Guilty

  • I had shit that tasted like acid forced down my throat, and then I was walk- ing barefooted through the meadow. Eryx didn't stop, not even when pine nettles stuck into my foot. The wind howled, biting into my exposed flesh as we moved further out of the lodge, toward the secondary field behind a small copse of trees.
  • My hair whipped against my face and a shiver from the cold sent goose- bumps over my arms. I could make out voices in the distance, along with the scent of people gathered. Peering up at the waning moon, I exhaled as I pondered where and to what I was being marched.
  • If I were lucky, maybe they'd finally end it here? It would suck, of course. I hadn't even started living, unable to escape my father's tyranny without hurting the pack. I'd planned it out perfectly, only to have the last person I'd ever ex- pected to see again fuck it all up. Now, I'd probably die without ever experiencing anything other than pain and agony.
