Chapter 4 Wedding

  • A few days later the wedding party was held.
  • Many wedding planners offered some great venues for the event, including hotels, resorts, open-air gardens and luxury multi-purpose halls, but Arthur didn't want the hassle and took his place in his private home.
  • The guests who attended were all from the elite upper class. Some of them come with good intentions to pray for the bride and groom, but events like this are usually used by wealthy people to strengthen business relationships. At the wedding party there will be many people of high status, everyone will bring their single family members to perform covert arranged marriages.
  • It was an ordinary sight.
  • Brenda who came to this grand party looked at all the beautiful decorations with a complicated look. She couldn't help but feel jealous and disgusted that Livy ended up betrothed to a rich man. She had the thought that Livy must be mocking her after she got married and she hated Livy even more.
  • Brenda nudged her mother. "Mom, this party is so grand. They're all rich people, right?"
  • Camile smiled proudly with her chin held high. The clothes the fashion designer made were very much to her taste and she felt like a tycoon.
  • "Yeah, your wedding will be this lavish too. I'll find some good connections for you."
  • While saying that, Camile's eyes looked at several groups of rich young people and wondered if they would want to be matched with her daughter. Since her daughter is currently still in school, getting engaged first wouldn't be a problem, she thought. At least they can tie the engagement first.
  • This idea made her smile.
  • "Listen to me, in the future make up with Livy. If you have more contact with the Finnegan family and show a good attitude, you will get a lot of rich people connections. Do you understand what I mean?" Camile whispered to her daughter.
  • "But, Mom, is there really no other way?" Brenda grumbled.
  • Camile exasperatedly said, "What other way are you talking about? The Finnegans come from a rich neighborhood. If you hang out with them often, you'll get to know a lot of rich people too!"
  • At this time, the emcee announced that the bride and groom would ascend the altar.
  • Since the three of them weren't allowed to peek in the make-up room, the two of them hadn't gotten a better look at how Livy looked in wedding attire. So after the spotlight in the room suddenly turned to two people walking on a special red carpet. With how well-matched the main couple was out there, everyone almost dropped their eyeballs in admiration.
  • It was two people who were handsome and beautiful as the main king and queen of the party. As the spotlights were on, Livy held Arthur's arm affectionately as she walked the red carpet to the podium amidst the music and under everyone's eyes. Arthur in a caring manner helped Livy up the aisle because of the long, beautiful tail of her dress, trying to keep Livy from falling. When the two of them were standing in line in front of the podium, finally the reading of the sacred vows began.
  • It was Brenda's first time seeing Arthur. Seeing Arthur's very handsome and calm appearance clearly made her couldn't help but freeze. Brenda had always thought that Arthur would be a crippled fat old man in a wheelchair, but her guess was completely shattered. Arthur was not only young and walked with stout legs, he was also incredibly handsome and charming. At most he was in his late twenties, still very young. Her mother said Arthur was a disable, which made Brenda almost laugh at the unfortunate Livy, but she couldn't figure out where the disable was.
  • "Oh my Gosh, look at that, he's even more handsome than the one in the photo." Camile laughed stiffly and slightly sneered at Livy's luck. Then she remembered that Arthur was a sickly young man who almost died, then she felt a little relieved.
  • "Mom, are you seriously saying the man is disabled?" said Brenda through gritted teeth full of envy. She admitted that Arthur was this handsome, she wouldn't refuse in the first place!
  • Brenda hissed with envy, not wanting to see the two people at the altar doing their vows. She turned her face to the side only to notice everyone's mesmerized gazes. She hated Livy even more because of this.
  • Camile finally answered, her voice low, "He is indeed a disable, it's in his eyes. You see? He can't see very well."
  • Arthur's eyes did look to have a strange pattern, but the rest of his appearance was very good, he was tall and slender. Although people call him blind, he was not completely blind.
  • "It doesn't look flawed to me ..." Brenda floated somewhat with regret and glanced back at the altar.
  • Previously when this man named Arthur was going to be matched with her, Brenda flatly refused. From the very beginning her mother had told Brenda that he had a disability and was also sickly. Her mother persuaded her to accept this arranged marriage, but Brenda, who did not want to live with a disabled man and thought that she will suffer from marrying such a man, immediately refused without a second thought.
  • But the truth was ...
  • Brenda saw Arthur's perfect facial features, apart from the imperfection in his eyes that wasn't obvious, the man had a well-proportioned build; he was tall, slender and handsome. Not only did he have the charm of a young man that one couldn't take their eyes off of, he was also very impressive and elegant. His face was indeed a bit pale and weak in appearance, but it was faintly with a cold and untouchable aura around it. It has to be said this man was absolutely perfect and seductive.
  • Brenda had previously wanted to laugh at Livy for having an arranged marriage with a disabled man. But seeing Arthur in person, she thought that Livy had shamelessly snatched her soul mate.
  • "Mom, you didn't say it was his eyes that were flawed and they weren't even visible ..." Brenda trembled with anger and felt like pulling Livy off the altar.
  • "I persuaded you, but you refused before I could explain, right?" Camile said.
  • "Livy also rejected it before, why did she suddenly take it for granted? Is she really only after his inheritance?" Brenda didn't know if she was comforting herself. If that was Livy's goal of marrying Arthur, sooner or later their family would get the right to the property as well. She felt a little relieved.
  • Arthur and Livy complete their vows, followed by an exchange of rings and kisses. Under everyone's gaze, Arthur held Livy's face, his oddly patterned eyes flashed with natural tenderness and he wasted no time kissing her lips. Blocking Livy's face from everyone's view with his palm, he kissed her gently.
  • Their lips touched each other slowly but surely. This was Livy's first kiss in her life, she didn't think it was real because it was only a contract marriage. But she didn't expect that this kiss would make her so carried away, it was as if her instincts wanted these lips so badly. In fact it had anesthetized all the viewers and realized that she also made someone tremble in anger at it. Brenda could barely see this. Livy had snatched Arthur from her!
  • After the vows and ring exchange were over, Arthur brought Livy to greet the guests.
  • Livy has her own complicated feelings from this marriage too. Her legs softened from the kiss, she could barely support it. She just didn't show it. She gave herself over to Arthur completely today and put on a good play. She did not deny that Arthur was very handsome today. She knew her life after marrying Arthur would not be too easy and smooth, she had been prepared for everything.
  • "Auntie ..." Livy rebuked Camile politely, her smile so gentle that no one would know that it was just a pretense.
  • Having Arthur beside her, Camile also pretended to reply, "Oh dear Livy, you are so pretty today. You really are the queen of this party now."
  • "Thank you, Auntie."
  • "Geez, you are too polite. I have taken care of you since childhood, you are like my own child ok. Don't be shy. Even though you are married, you can still ask me for help in the future."
  • Livy didn't want to think about her aunt's words and introduced Brenda. "Arthur, this is my cousin, Brenda."
  • While Brenda was acting nonchalantly to cover up her anger, Arthur just nodded without saying anything.
  • "Auntie, I'll go around first to greet the others. You can enjoy the feast and the food." Livy tightened her grip on Arthur and went over to the other guests in a warm manner.
  • Brenda saw Livy immediately meet a young woman and eagerly hugged her. She certainly knew Sarah, that was Livy's only friend, Brenda was literally staring with scorn written all over her face at the two of them.
  • "Look at that, Mom, they only officially got married a few minutes ago, but she already feels like she's the princess of a rich family!"
  • "You ... can you lower your voice?! What if Livy hears it?" Camile pinched Brenda in annoyance, turning to make sure Arthur hadn't heard either.
  • "Hmph!"
  • "I told you to follow my advice and make up with Livy, you too will marry a handsome rich man later."
  • When Brenda heard this, she was even more annoyed. She should be with his father at home, there's no need to come to a party like this!
  • In the end the party lasted for a full five hours. In the evening, the guests have returned to their respective homes. There were only a few workers who were cleaning up the rest of the party and decorations, they were all working late.
  • Arthur's house was very large, Camile and her daughter intended to stay and experience living in that luxurious house, but she was immediately kicked out. The family's private driver drove them home and gave them gifts to take home. Even though they were family, they weren't allowed to stay overnight, when Camile idly asked, the driver said that Arthur didn't want anyone to bother him at home after the party. Even his parents were also asked to leave.
  • She could only give up in disappointment.
  • At home, Arthur and Livy were already wearing normal clothes. They escorted Arthur's parents away.
  • "Be careful on the road, Father, Mother." Arthur made small talk in a low tone.
  • Arthur's father just nodded without saying anything. Instead, Arthur's mother immediately grabbed Livy's hand. This treatment made Livy a bit shocked and controlled herself, for a moment she felt that her mother-in-law seemed a little strange. She didn't know how to explain it, however, this woman's smile seemed a bit rushed.
  • "I'll go first, you guys get some rest."
  • "Thank you ... Mother." Livy answered hesitantly.
  • After the two left, Livy thought about her father-in-law's expression again and felt that his character and face really resembled Arthur's. While his mother was much more friendly, but this hospitality, according to her, still felt a bit strange. She seemed to be deliberately approaching Livy and her demeanor was unnatural.
  • "What's wrong?" Arthur asked as he watched Livy absentmindedly at the bottom of the stairs with a complicated look.
  • Livy looked up and realized that Arthur was already a few steps ahead of her. From this distance, he could clearly see that because the light was still on in the living room, the man was indeed handsome beside his unique eyeballs.
  • Livy cleared her throat. "No. Nothing."
  • ***
  • The next morning, since Livy was used to doing housework, she woke up very early. She went to the kitchen after a restless sleep and her eyes were a little swollen. First she wanted to make breakfast for herself and Arthur, but when she arrived at the kitchen, the maid was preparing it.
  • "Young Lady, do you need anything?" asked the young girl who was the cook in the house.
  • Livy wasn't used to that nickname, but didn't protest
  • "... Is the food ready?" She asked a little disappointed.
  • The maid didn't know that Livy was disappointed and asked, "Would you like to eat now?"
  • "No, no. That's not it. I was just asking."
  • 'Actually, I wanna help,' she added to himself.
  • "Then you can wait in the room and take a shower first, I will ask another maid to prepare clothes to wear. Do you like fish soup and vegetable salad?" said the young girl softly.
  • "Mn," Livy replied.
  • Actually she preferred an omelette in the morning, but since the chef was ready to cook, she didn't want to disappoint her. Maybe the maid used to make the menu for Arthur, maybe it was Arthur's favourite.
  • Livy took a quick shower as the maid prepared clothes for her. When she returned to the dining table, Arthur still hadn't come out of the room.
  • "Is Arthur not awake yet?" she asked the maid.
  • "Young Master will be down at exactly seven and will be leaving for the company in half an hour."
  • Livy glanced at the table and saw that almost all of the food was made from vegetables, no greasy foods that were high in cholesterol. All the dishes were really in healthy portions.
  • "No rice?" Livy was confused.
  • "Ah, do you want to eat rice?" The maid was also confused.
  • 'So, is there never rice in your young master's diet?' She thought.
  • But Livy didn't ask that and instead said, "It's okay, I don't want to eat rice now."
  • "If you want to eat rice, this afternoon I will prepare it." The maid said, "Young Master is used to not eating rice. We servants always prepare a healthy menu that the doctor recommends."
  • Livy remembered her aunt saying that Arthur's body was weak and he was sickly, but she didn't know what the man's illness really was. There were several bottles of medicine on the table. Just as Livy was about to ask, she saw Arthur coming down from above.
  • In contrast to his usual frail appearance, the man looked healthy and strong. Didn't look sickly at all. His eyeballs still have a unique pattern. But his eyes were sharp and his aura was cold and untouchable.
  • Livy somehow felt that this man was unlike the one she had known before.
  • ... to be continued ...
