Chapter 8 The Richest Man Asking For Help
- Uncle Liu looked dashing in his expensive suit and for man of over 50 years of age, he carried a classy aura that anyone who saw him would assume he was a big shot. Uncle Liu was all smiles when he walked up to Su Qi as he spoke with a warm attitude, “Young man, it looks like you are adept in medicine. Our boss would like to see you. Do you mind coming with me, please?”
- This man had definitely come from a noble family. Su Qi had noticed the Bentley and the person inside kept staring while he was treating the old lady earlier. At first, Su Qi surmised that it was someone from his clan, but from the looks of it now, it was someone else.
- “I’m happy to oblige,” Su Qi nodded in agreement in agreement.
- After getting into the car, he saw a middle-aged man in his thirties. With a square face and thick brows, his eyes were bright and full of energy. He exuded an aristocratic aura and was evidently a big tycoon.
- Despite so, Su Qi could sense a hint of sadness in his eyes. He figured the man or his family must have suffered from a peculiar disease with no hope of curing through the conventional hospitals.
- “Hi, I’m Tang Anyan. You are?” the man introduced himself politely.
- Raising his brow, Su Qi asked in astonishment, “Tang Anyan. Are you the richest man in Hua County, the CEO of Tang Group?”
- Tang Anyan was confused at his question, “Do we know each other?”
- “I’ve seen your name on the news,” as Su Qi shook his head, he remained his composure and gave him a smile.
- His reaction somewhat surprised Tang Anyan as he took some time to observe the man sitting before him. He noticed that Su Qi’s clothes and shoes were so worn out that it was beyond wearable. At first glance, he appeared to be a coolie, but upon closer look, the man before him had an inexplicably dauntless air. He had a calm and collected demeanor which was in huge disparity with his outlook.
- Tang Anyan was intrigued by Su Qi’s real identity as he was different from all the people he had ever met, especially a man of his age. Most youngsters, even those born affluent, would get anxious when facing him. Yet, Su Qi carried a calm and collected demeanor which was in huge disparity with his outlook.
- He wondered if the mother and daughter incident earlier was an act Su Qi put up on purpose in anticipation of meeting him. But he tossed that possibility out of his mind very quickly since his appearance was pure coincidence. Other than Uncle Liu, no one knew of his whereabouts. This young man could not have known he would turn up here. Could this truly be the man destined to help me? Is he a medical prodigy?
- After some thinking, he got straight to the point, “Honestly, I got you here to ask a favour from you.”
- “What can I do for you, Mr. Tang?” asked Su Qi.
- Without beating around the bush, Tang Anyan nodded his head as he succinctly described the situation to him and finally said, “If you can cure my father, I’m willing to pay five million in cash.”
- Five million! Su Qi was tempted at his offer since he had not seen that much money in a long time. Ever since marrying into the Liu’s, he never once held down a job. Without any source of income, he was poor all the time and never had more than three thousand on him. More importantly, with this five million, he would no longer need to live off Liu Nian anymore. So naturally, the offer was extremely appealing to him.
- He was confident in curing the Old Master’s illness after listening to Tang Anyan’s description. The thing was, he wasn’t sure if this would be a breach to his family rule as his five year deadline had actually yet to expire.
- Just as he was hesitating, Tang Anyan assumed he was not satisfied with the amount and counter-offered, “Eight million! If you can treat my father, I’ll pay you eight million in cash.”
- Eight freaking million! That was three million more!
- Su Qi gave in to the temptation and nodded his head in agreement.
- Excitement flashed through Tang Anyan’s eyes. He swiftly wrote out a check for one million and shoved it into Su Qi’s hand, “Don’t worry, I’ll make it worth your time. Even if you can’t cure my father, you can keep this one million as a reward.”
- Su Qi got startled but he received the check graciously anyway.
- One million was a paltry sum to Tang Anyan, but by offering a monetary reward upfront, he could at least get on the good side of the man who was supposedly a medical prodigy. Besides, the sum was nothing compared to his father’s wellbeing.
- The car coursed on the road for half an hour before driving into a palatial manor.
- After alighting the vehicle, Tang Anyan walked him into his residence, “Mr. Su, my father is in here. Let’s go in.”
- Su Qi sped up his pace and trailed behind Tang Anyan.
- Upon entering the living room, he saw there were a lot of people gathering in there with their eyes reddened. It was apparent that the group had been crying earlier.
- The moment Tang Anyan walked in with Su Qi, it drew the attention of everyone in the living room. With sorrow brimming from her tearstained face, an elegant lady said to Tang Anyan, “Anyan, where have you been? Dad…”
- “What happened?!” Tang Anyan asked her anxiously.
- There was a resemblance in Tang Anyan and the lady’s facial feature; it was apparent that they were both siblings.
- The lady tried to say something but she immediately choked with sadness.
- Colors drained out of Tang Anyan’s face instantly as he collapsed to the ground, “Dad… Did he… Die?”
- The lady got agitated as she screamed, “Anyan, don’t speak nonsense! Dad is still alive!”
- “Huh?” Tang Anyan was dumbstruck, “Then what happened? Where is dad? I want to see him!”
- A man approached him as he told him softly, “Anyan, your father’s condition had aggravated. The doctor had come earlier to do a checkup and concluded that he might not have much time left. We should all be mentally prepared and get ready to sort out his funeral matters.”
- “Impossible! Dad was doing fine a few days ago! How is it possible that his condition deteriorates all of a sudden?!” Tang Anyan’s eyes turned red as tears started to well up.
- The people in the room had teary eyes as they each consoled Tang Anyan and told him to stay strong.
- “Anyan, why did bring a coolie here?” after spotting Su Qi, the lady frowned and said.
- It was true that Su Qi appeared so poverty-stricken that it was normal for him to be mistaken as a coolie.
- Tang Anyan returned to his senses and said, ‘Oh right! No, no… This is a doctor I invited to come and treat dad. It almost slipped my mind after hearing of the news from you guys. That’s enough. Let me bring him in to see father.”
- “What? A doctor? Wait!” the lady stopped Tang Anyan, “Anyan, are you insane? He doesn’t look like a doctor at all. He looked like someone from the slums and there is no way I would believe this guy to be capable of treating any illness at all! We have sought consultation from the finest doctors from all over the world to no avail. What do you expect this man could do? Have you gone out of your mind? You must be overworked and stressed out lately.”
- The rest in the room concurred in with the lady as they persuaded Tang Anyan.
- “She’s right, Anyan. I know you’re filial to your grandfather, but you must take care of your health too. The Tang clan is depending on you.”
- “Why don’t you go get some rest?”
- Tang Anyan was slightly moved by the lady’s words and he started having doubts on Su Qi, What she says might not be entirely wrong…
- Naturally, Su Qi could sense their mistrust and contempt for him. Since that was the case, he thought there was no point in him staying, “Since Mr. Tang doesn’t need me, I’ll be on my way.”
- “Wait a moment,” Tang Anyan decided to go with his guts and asked Su Qi, “Su Qi, are you honestly able to cure my father?”
- Su Qi replied firmly without giving any sort of gurantee, “Let me have a look at the patient’s condition first.”
