Chapter 124 Finally Letting Go

  • Two weeks passed and by this time, both Sophia and Jack had been arraigned at the court. With the evidence provided by Jack and Ellie anonymously, Sophia was found guilty of the murders of Pamela, Jack’s lover, and Kevin. She was sentenced to life imprisonment while Jack on the other hand, was sentenced to three years imprisonment for being an accomplice. Stephanie became a shadow of herself as right in front of her, she lost everything. She lost her wealth, her status and her children. Anytime she visited the prison to visit her children, none of them agreed to see her and would turn down her request. Her heart was shattered, and she didn’t know how to carry on with her life after having lost everything. She wasn’t the only one feeling that way as Edward was also in the same shoe as her. He had become a drunkard since the incident that happened at Daniel’s house that day and had turned the club into his new abode. He was always at the club from morning till night, drinking himself to stupor and whenever the night came, he would head over to Ellie’s and Richard’s abode, throwing tantrum and requesting to have a discussion with Ellie who never gave in to his request.
  • Sometimes, he would spend the night on their doorsteps and sometimes, Richard would have to get in touch with their dad, to send someone to pick him up. This went on and Daniel had no other option than to bring Austin to his side and cater for him as Edward no longer went home. Although Ellie was pretending not to care about the state in which Edward was, it hurt her seeing him like that every day. Whenever he banged on their door, requesting for her attention, her heart always skipped and yearned to be in his arms, but she was holding herself back for Richard’s sake. She didn’t want to hurt Richard as he had been hurt enough and so she made up her mind to stay by his side as long as it made him happy. There were times she would cry to sleep at the thought of Edward and which Richard didn’t fail to notice. Richard would stay outside the door to her room, listening as the echoes of her soft sobs filled the room. Richard knew she was hurting, and she was only with him because of the pity she had for him, but he couldn’t bring himself to let her go as he loved her so much. But a day came, the day Richard finally realized letting go of someone can actually prove your love for them.
  • That day, Richard had gone to the club to organize his thoughts. He couldn’t bear to see Ellie hurt anymore although she pretended not to be. After spending hours at the club drowning himself in alcohol, he finally made the hard decision he had been reluctant to make. The decision to let go of Ellie and let her make her way to where her peace was. He exited the club and headed home and as usual, he met Edward at the entrance, banging on the door and calling out for Ellie’s presence. Richard stood behind him, watching as he kept banging on the door and couldn’t help but notice his swollen hands. Although his hands were swollen, Edward kept on enduring the pain as all he wanted to see his beloved. His hair looked unkept and even though the weather was chilling, he only put on a light shirt. He looked pitiful and Richard couldn’t help but feel bad for him.
