Chapter 1214 Let's Not Play Games!

  • Cedric scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. "That so-called young master who got his legs shattered? Just look at him—he's nothing but a walking pile of sins! Taking him down wasn't a crime; it was justice overdue!" He waved decisively, his tone sharp. "It doesn't matter whether Mr. Nicholson is clean or not. What matters is that we can't risk being caught in his mess. One misstep, and we're finished. Better cautious than dead!"
  • "But..." Emmett sank into a chair, his face etched with panic. "But if not Mr. Nicholson, then who else can we turn to? What's the alternative? Do we just sit here and wait for Kami to show up and end us? I'm not ready to sit here like a lamb to the slaughter!" Desperation flickered in his eyes as he reached out and gripped Cedric's arm tightly. "Mr. Stanton, listen to me. Nicholson has never turned on us. If we plead with him, there's a chance he might throw us a lifeline. Kami won't show mercy—we both know that! If we're going to die anyway, why not take a shot with Nicholson? He could be our only chance to survive this mess!"
  • Tears streaked down Emmett's face as he dropped all pretense of composure. "Mr. Stanton, my child has just entered this world! Please, if there's even a shred of mercy in you, help me. Just this once! Go and plead with Mr. Nicholson! I can't bear the thought of dying like this, in a foreign land, leaving my family behind to suffer!" The mention of a newborn seemed to strike a nerve. Cedric's otherwise steely expression wavered, his eyes betraying a hint of inner turmoil.
