Chapter 6

  • Giulia's POV
  • “Oh no!” I exclaimed as the raindrops began to touch my skin. The rain seemed to get heavier and I scrambled for shade. I hadn't gotten to the shade when I heard my name.
  • “Giulia.” The voice called in a very harsh matter. I looked around but I didn't see anyone.
  • He called again, and this time, a heavy outpour followed.
  • Jesus Christ! Where am I?
  • That was when I opened my eyes to see that I had been dreaming. The sun rays from the window hit my eyes, and they fluttered helplessly.
  • I managed to open my eyes finally and saw Don Antonio looking down at me with narrowed eyes. He held a huge jug which he passed on to Leonardo the moment he saw that I opened my eyes.
  • I soon realized how drenched I was. The heavy outpour of rain in my dream was Don Antonio emptying a jug of water on me.
  • I stood immediately with water dripping from my body to the ground, I was so drenched.
  • “You sleep a lot.” Don Antonio muttered with a blank expression.
  • “I'm so sorry,” I answered with a bow.
  • He took a step forward with both hands in his pocket.
  • “You didn't sign a contract with me just to sleep, did you?”
  • “No master, I'm dee…”
  • “You signed up to be my companion, not to sleep around Giulia.” He paused to let his words sink in.
  • “If this happens again, you'll serve me from the dungeon.”
  • He then walked away, and I was left with Leonardo, who called for maids to clean up and take the jugs out.
  • Don Antonio had poured four full jugs of water on me. How did I sleep this much?
  • “You have fifteen minutes to get ready, miss, you'll be joining Don Antonio at the table. Don't keep him waiting.”
  • He looked at me for some time before turning to walk to the door. He held the door handle and stopped.
  • “Don't get too comfortable Giulia, don't.” He said without turning to look at me and left.
  • I was beginning to see why he asked me not to get too comfortable on the first day, Don Antonio was toxic.
  • I quickly went to the bathroom. My bath had been prepared. I took my clothes off and walked into the bathtub.
  • The water was warm, this was just what I needed after being drenched by my so-called master. I took my soap and spread it all over me.
  • My mind drifted to last night's incident and I flushed with embarrassment. I still can't believe that I fell for that and ended up giving him a massage.
  • I walked out of the shower a few minutes later and walked to my dressing mirror. A dress had already been prepared for me.
  • I looked at the dress for some time before walking to pick it up.
  • I hope this is better than the rest!
  • The dress was terrible, it was worse than I imagined. This time the dress wasn't clingy or transparent; the dress screamed slavery.
  • It was big, slack, and long.
  • “Miss,” a slender voice came after a knock.
  • “Come in.” I was pacing around angrily, what the hell was this?
  • “Your master asks that you be at the table now, miss; you are five minutes late.” The young lady said immediately she entered.
  • I gestured at the dress on the bed, I didn't want to say a word. My eyes were already clouded with tears due to frustration.
  • “ I'm sorry, ma'am, this was what Don Antonio asked me to give you.”
  • “Why does he have to choose what I wear?” I muttered as I wiped the tears that rolled down my cheeks.
  • It's because he owns you, Giulia! My stupid mind answered.
  • “I don't know…”
  • “I'll wear it.” I cut her short as I picked the dress.
  • She excused me, and I threw the dress on, packed my hair in a grand style, and matched out of the room.
  • “Giulia!” Don Antonio called out the moment I entered. “ You are late”
  • I didn't say a word, I just stood and watched him. I let my eyes roam around and they locked with Lorenzo's.
  • “Too comfortable.” He mouthed to nobody's hearing in a way only I could understand and looked away.
  • Don Antonio drew his chair backward and walked to where I stood. He looked me over and a smile curled his lips. He looked satisfied with what he saw.
  • “I thought you'd refuse my dress.” He said with a slightly triumphant smile that disappeared immediately.
  • I kept a blank expression and looked him straight in the eye as he spoke.
  • He leaned forward and whispered to my ears. “ Turns out you became a good girl after yesterday's encounter.”
  • I still didn't say a word. He gestured towards the table and I walked there as he trailed from behind.
  • I was about to draw out the chair and he held my hand.
  • “What kind of a gentleman will I be if I let you do this yourself?”
  • I looked at him in awe as he drew the chair out and asked me to sit.
  • I bent low majestically to sit but I never reached the chair. I went straight to the ground and I heard Don Antonio laugh out loud for the first time.
  • Even his laughter was perfect but that didn't stop me from getting mad.
  • I tried to get up but the stupid dress I was wearing made it difficult. I managed to lift my body, and when I tried to hold the chair to gain balance I slipped on my dress and fell flat.
  • This time, he didn't laugh; he stretched his arm to help me up, but I ignored him. I packed the dress and managed to stand up.
  • The hand of the dress was sagging and falling off. I angrily drew it back in place and stood in front of Antonio.
  • I opened my mouth to say something but no pleasant word came to mind. They'll only cause more trouble if they slip out of my tongue.
  • I hate you!
  • To hell with you!
  • Stupid, stupid, stupid man!
  • My mind yelled but I dared not say a word. He looked back at me with an intensifying gaze as he waited for me to speak but I closed my mouth and walked past him, heading towards the door.
  • “Giulia! Come back here,” He called out, his voice surprisingly calm, but that didn't last long because I ignored him and kept walking to the door.
  • “Giulia!!!” He called out again, his voice was louder and angrier this time, and I stopped, but I didn't look back.
  • “What gave you the audacity to walk out on me?” I could hear him walk in my direction.
  • “What you did back there wasn't fair at all.” I was angry and pained.
  • The maids in the dining room hurried past me with their heads slightly bowed, and Lorenzo followed after, and it was just me and Don Antonio.
  • “And who are you to decide what's fair and what's not?”
  • I gulped and remained silent. I could feel him right behind me but I didn't turn around.
  • “Turn around, Giulia.” He muttered angrily.
  • I turned around slowly to face him. I raised my head high so I looked him in the eyes.
  • “Good girl.” He paused for a split second and continued. “I wanted a joke, and I made one with my pet… how is that unfair?” He asked with his brows raised.
  • “Answer me!” He yelled and I shook.
  • Tears rolled down my cheeks. “I'm sorry,” I whispered
  • “Here is me reminding you again that I own you. I don't care about your damn feelings, and whatever I do to you is not your business.” He lifted my already-dropping chin.
  • “ You owe me, and you are repaying what you owe, you are lucky that I decided not to lock you up.”
  • Fuck you! Fuck you, Antonio! I yelled mentally but my lips said something different. “I'm sorry.”
  • “Now, you'll join me at the table and eat with me.” He said and walked towards the table as I followed from behind.
  • We sat quietly at the table. As we ate, his mind seemed to drift away but did I care? Hell no!
  • We were eating quietly when someone barged into the room. It was the lady from last night...
