Chapter 8

  • Scarlett's perspective.
  • I awoke in an unfamiliar room with a headache. "Oh, no! What happened the previous night? Is it possible that I overdrank? I can't think of anything..." When I sit back against my bed's headboard, I lament the fact that I can't remember anything.
  • My memories of last night are hazy... After standing and rudely stopping the guest, everything goes blank.
  • "Perhaps Uncle Marcos wasn't too upset about what happened because I'm still alive," I mumbled as I rolled out of bed.
  • "Oh, good morning, my love," Esmeralda exclaimed.
  • What became of her? Why didn't I hear the door open? I inquired as I stared in awe at Esmeralda's ethereal beauty.
  • On the other hand... I clear my mind because this stuff comes out of nowhere for a vampire.
  • Perhaps Esmeralda and the others have forgotten how to knock or use the door.
  • Apart from butler Mark, he is the only person in this castle who will correctly use the door to provide me with a private space.
  • "You accomplished a great thing last night," Esmeralda said as she approached with a wide grin on her face.
  • "I'm sorry, Lady Esmeralda, but my memory of the last time is hazy... "I don't recall anything," I replied, concerned.
  • "All right, let's talk about it in front of a meal." "I already know you're hungry," Esmeralda says, yanking on my arms and directing my steps.
  • After witnessing Lady Esmeralda's affection for me, I felt complacent. "By the way, what happened in this room?" Is it true that I did it? I'm sorry if I offended you..."
  • Esmeralda's gaze shifted to the side of the room where I was staring. "Don't be concerned about the coach... "Didn't you mess up anything?"She responds by dragging me into the far end of the room's closet.
  • I couldn't help but admire the attire on display. That had nothing to do with the clothes in my closet.
  • "Everything about this closet is extraordinary!" My eyes twinkled as I examined the clothes, and I yelled.
  • "You can wear whatever you want because I'm in a good mood..." Esmeralda insists, which pleases me.
  • "Really? "Can I wear whatever I want?" I couldn't stop myself from caressing the clothing.
  • I'm surprised because the entire closet is the size of my room.
  • "Of course, you're part of my family... "My land is also yours..." As she looked at me, Esmeralda muttered.
  • After I had chosen my clothes, Esmeralda gave me time to take a bath.
  • "What in the world is going on?" "Does this come from your blood?" Looking in the bathroom mirror, I inquired. I had dried blood on the corners of my lips and on the back of my neck, and I had no idea where it had come from.
  • "No! I didn't kill anyone last night!" I shouted as the water streamed over my body, stroking it with my hand. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, the face of a famous man appeared in my mind.
  • (Your scent is so delicious... I can't stop thinking about you...) Oh my gosh! Why did this scenario occur to you? Did I really just say that?
  • "Who exactly is that person?" I mumbled, recognizing the man from the previous night.
  • —I was disappointed because I ended up taking a bath, but the face of the man with the wonderful scent remained a mystery to me.
  • "I'll enquire of Esmeralda... I'm sure she'll tell me everything," I thought to myself as I dressed in the outfit Esmeralda had given me.
  • ——
  • The servant led me to a different dining area than the night before. While my memory is foggy, I recall the room being large and elegant.
  • "Scarlett, hurry up! I made this lunch especially for you..." Esmeralda smiled broadly and murmured.
  • "Really? I'm excited to give it a shot... Thank you so much."I said as I sat in front of Esmeralda.
  • So, I've been sitting for a minute now, and my mind is still on what happened last night... So I looked at the meal in front of me, then at Esmeralda, who was holding only a glass of blood.
  • "About last night... There's a guy with a wonderful smell... but I don't recall his name," I explained.
  • As she looked at me, Esmeralda's grin faded. "Are you referring to Alejandro?" She responded.
  • "Alejandro? Is that his real name?" I was curious. Because I couldn't look at Esmeralda because I was embarrassed, I focused on the food.
  • "In any case, what became of your butler?" "Has his body been found?" Esmeralda didn't want to talk about Alejandro, so she invented a new topic.
  • "Who is Mark Butler?" He could be on the other side of the fortress. Remember, none of us are allowed to enter this side of the castle." My response was to chew the food in my mouth.
  • "Please accept my heartfelt apologies... My father only cares about you; remember, you're human, and everyone else here is a vampire."Esmeralda said as she zipped the warm blood into her glass.
  • I gave Esmeralda a friendly smile. "I've spent the last year enjoying my time on the opposite side of the castle. So don't worry, I didn't instill hatred in my father's family," I reassured her with a smile.
  • "It's fantastic that you understand. So, since you're of legal drinking age and clearly capable of protecting yourself, you'll be living with us from now on." "My wedding is approaching, and as my only cousin, I wanted you to be my maid of honor," Esmeralda said, throwing the blood into her glass. You could also help me with the preparation..."
  • I'm shaking... As a child, I had the impression that my father's family disliked me... "Thank you so much, Esmeralda... I didn't expect to feel loved after all these years." I can now say I'm not alone and that I have a family." The tears that streamed down my cheeks were a symbol of joy.
  • ——
  • Esmeralda is still nice to me after a few days.
  • It makes no difference that Lord Marcos and Lady Elizabeth are still feuding. The only thing that matters is that I've gained a friend... a family... In Esmeralda's honor.
