Chapter 4 I Want To Cooperate With You
- Hua Shengan looked him up and down in disgust. “I'm just telling the truth. All of us know who's really hurting now! If I wanted to take you both as scapegoats, you wouldn't even have the chance to make a fuss in front of me now.”
- “The truth is out there. There's a lifeless man in your room right now, and you ran away after killing him. What else is there to say?”
- “Tsk,” she scoffed, “And you said that you're not in this together with my sister. The fact that you guys are trying so hard to frame me just proved that wrong!”
- “Hua Shengan, I'm only telling the truth. To be honest, I'd rather become a monk than have a cheating murderer as my girlfriend.”
- That was the last straw for Hua Shengan. She stretched out a hand and slapped him with force. “You really have a way with that nasty mouth of yours, don't you? Aren't you afraid of getting struck by lightning when you say things like that?”
- “How dare you hit me?!” Luo Tian raised his hand and was about to hit her back but was stopped by Xiao Chengjue, who dashed toward him. After yanking at Luo Tian's hand, he said, “It's Luo Tian, right? Where did you get the audacity to hit my woman on my territory?”
- Luo Tian stared at him dumbfoundedly. He didn't expect that Xiao Chengjue would actually help her. “Mr. Xiao, do you really want to side with a murderer?”
- Xiao Chengjue gave the policeman an intense glare. The latter had initially been bribed by Luo Tian and Hua Ranran but decided to quickly switch sides. “Mr. Luo, the case hasn't been solved yet, so please don't jump to conclusions so quickly,” he uttered in a deep voice. “When the cruise ship docks, I'll definitely look into this case. Return to your rooms for now. Sorry for disturbing you, Mr. Xiao. I'll excuse myself then.”
- The policeman had made it clear that he didn't want to offend Xiao Chengjue, so he showed himself out after saying that.
- “Why are both of you still here? Waiting for me to invite you to a meal?” Xiao Chengjue exclaimed sarcastically while looking at them.
- Hua Ranran wasn't satisfied with the outcome. She didn't know how Hua Shengan knew someone as powerful as Xiao Chengjue and even persuaded him to help her in a situation like this. But she wasn't ready to give up just yet. Right then, Luo Tian pulled her back and gestured for her not to act recklessly.
- “Please leave now. Come this way.” Qian showed them to the door, and they left with distorted expressions on their faces.
- The poolside, which was buzzing with activity moments ago, suddenly grew quiet.
- Hua Shengan blushed deeply when she remembered the kiss earlier and let out a cough. “Uh, thank you for helping me just now, Mr. Xiao.”
- Xiao Chengjue sat on the rattan chair and looked at her with a smile. “Your attitude was different when you faced them earlier. But now you're acting vulnerable like a little sheep in front of me. Are you trying to seduce me?”
- She needed connections if she wanted to carry out this revenge successfully. At this moment, she even felt that Xiao Chengjue was an angel sent to rescue her. Otherwise, why would they meet in this new life of hers? If God gave her a second chance, then she would definitely hold onto it!
- She met his gaze more determinedly. “Yes, that's exactly what I intended. Are you up for it, Mr. Xiao?”
- Interesting.
- “But I'm no wolf, so I have absolutely no interest in sheep.” He continued fooling with her while the smile remained on his face.
- “Of course you're interested. Otherwise, you would've just kicked me out instead of helping me earlier on,” she replied confidently, but her palms were sweating.
- The corner of Xiao Chengjue's lips curved upwards, but his eyes were unreadable. He was wearing a bathrobe with his muscular chest exposed. Right then, he beckoned her to come closer.
- Hua Shengan went to sit on his lap and nuzzled up against him.
- Xiao Chengjue didn't know whether to cry or laugh. “Hua Shengan, are you really the head of Dingfeng?”
- Hua Shengan's hands that were around his neck froze. “How did you know about my company?”
- “I did some research when you guys were quarreling.”
- “Mr. Xiao, I want to work together with you.”
