- I don’t know what to feel after that just happened, I never knew Rowan would be such a jerk, he tore through my dignity like it was nothing, making me look like a liar
- I should have expected this, but that didn’t make it hurt less, he made me feel like a gold digger which I wasn’t
- I just wanted to meet him, selfish part of me wanted to know who I gave myself to, I wanted to see the person I had sex with, and now I did,
- I walked out of the company in low spirits, calling a cab and heading straight to the hospital, even though my mom wasn’t awake, she was still my rock and I wanted to talk to her
- But as I went to the hospital I saw doctors rushing and out of the room with machines and injections,
- My heart started beating fast, “ excuse me what’s happening?” I shouted to a nurse that passed her,
- “ the patient had an attack, we’re doing everything we can miss, so you have to wait”
- I could only stand helpless as doctors tried to revive my mom, even the hundred thousand dollars I paid recently had just made a small dent in the expense,
- The surgery had increased to four hundred thousand dollars, and that made me feel helpless as I got the information,
- My mother only had a small time left, and here I was sulking on a bastard that wants nothing to do with me, and this child
- I waited a few hours for my mom to be in the clear, till she could accept visitors now
- the white doors of the hallway room felt so small like they were closing in, till I reached her room, one look at my mom’s peaceful face calmed my heart,
- The only noise from the room came from the monitor that beeped and showed her vitals,
- I walked in quietly, taking a seat near her, I reach for her frail hands, squeezing them lightly for strength,
- “ Mom I’m sorry, but I’m not as strong as you, I thought I could handle it all, but I can’t”
- I wept as my hands went to my stomach, “ I can’t have this baby, not like this, not when I have to take care of you, not when my life is this way, I don’t even know why I wanted to meet Rowan today”
- People can be so cruel, I knew that, and in a way, I was too, I was going to let this child go
- “ mom if you’re hearing me, I’m sorry if you’d feel disappointed in me, I hope you forgive me, but the next time I come to this room, I won’t have this baby”
- I took my mom’s frail hands to my lips and kissed them before I bid her goodbye and made my way to the abortion clinic,
- My heart thundered in my chest with every step I took toward the clinic, “ was I doing the right thing?” I thought to myself, it had to be.
- I stopped at the front of the clinic, a few people passed me and went inside the clinic, some looked at me like I had gone crazy with the way I stood there
- Just when I was about to push the glass door open, a car stopped abruptly in front of me, with a middle-aged classy, and very beautiful woman standing in front of me with a smile,
- “ Hello Emma”
- “ Who are you? And how do you know my name?”
- “ you may not know me but I know you, I’m Layla King, I’m Rowan’s mother” I could see the resemblance clear as day from her grey eyes to her lips that matched his I could see the resemblance, but what did she want from me?
- “I know all about what happened, would you care to talk to me? This also had to do with your mother’s life Emma”
- She called pointing to the car that her driver opened up, I looked at her like she had grown a second head because no one in their right mind would just follow a stranger
- She noticed I was very skeptical about going anywhere with her and she let out a giggle,
- “ don’t worry dear, I just want to talk,” she said before she pointed to a CCTV camera on the street and at the front of the clinic “ I’m harmless I swear,”
- I just know if taken to an abandoned area and killed I have no one to blame but myself, “let’s go then” I agreed before entering the car
- We drive for a few minutes before we reached a large gated estate, my eyes widened in surprise as to how big the place was, but I was still weary of her,
- She led me out of the car and I took the house
- It was as majestic as the outside if not far better, I heard the fast pitter-patter of feet, as I looked up to see a girl, who looked my age,
- “ hi my name my Raya!” she called ecstatically
- “ I’m Emma” I called trying to return her smile,
- “ Raya I have a guest right now so please don’t disturb me,”
- “ who is she mom?”
- “Someone very important, I need to speak to her in private”, she told her daughter who agreed with a nod and left us alone
- “I know you’re pregnant with my son’s child,”
- “ as you know I already want to abort it, don’t worry I’m not going to use it against you or anything” I assured the older woman, but she just laughed
- “ no, I want you to keep the child”
- “I’m sorry why would I?, I can’t,” I was very confused, Rowan wanted nothing to do with the child but his mother does,
- “ you must, and if you do, consider all your mother’s expenses paid, take this offer Emma, or you will lose your mother soon”
- There was no sweet tone added to her proposal, she wanted me to keep the baby even if it meant forcing me to,
- And her offer was far too good to ignore, I was desperate to right now, and all the more my mother just had another attack, what if they can’t save her next time I didn’t want to risk that
- “ make up your mind dear, This is for your mom,” she said, as she reached inside her bag and brought out a contract
- “ This states you will give birth to the baby and you will be compensated,”
- “ And what about your son Rowan, why isn’t he here? Does he now know about this ..proposal?” I asked carefully
- “ Look Emma, this is for your mother, whether you sign or not, you know this benefits your mother and will save her, so sign the contract”
- I took one good look at the contract, my head was all over the place I couldn’t read it, but my desperation was at its peak,
- I took the pen and signed away my life to the King, it was humiliating just remembering Rowan’s remarks earlier today, but I had to do it, for mom
- And just as I signed it, the door barged open, it made me flinch as I looked up to meet the eyes of the arrogant billionaire and the father of my child who stops with blazing anger,
- Rowan king,
