• The door closed behind Rafe with a final, resounding thud. I stood there, frozen, unable to breathe. My heart pounded in my chest like a war drum, each beat louder than the last. The silence of my chambers felt suffocating, and the realization of what I'd just done hit me like a tidal wave. Rafe had really gone and it was all my fault.
