Chapter 14
- Lan Muwei’s eyes seemed to be as deep as the galaxy itself as she smiled. “Sir, I don’t believe we’re acquainted. I don’t have any impression of you.”
- Fu Chen had always been the observant type. He naturally noticed the hatred in Lan Muwei’s eyes. He was also quite certain that he didn’t know this woman, so where did this hatred come from? Not only that, this woman really seemed like a certain someone he knew…
- Fu Chen’s voice sounded incredibly gentle. “Are you willing to come work for the Fu Corporation as a designer? I can pay you double what the Feng Corporation can give you.”
- Lan Muwei chuckled coldly in her mind. She didn’t care one bit about the Fu Corporation, so why would she care about double salary? What she wanted was to make Fu Chen go bankrupt and ruin his reputation!
- She had a plain expression as she stated coldly, “Thank you for your offer, President Fu, but I would prefer to develop myself at the Feng Corporation.”
- She straightened her back and raised her head while giving off a cold aura of unapproachability.
- Fu Chen lost control of himself for an instant as he said out loud what was in his mind: “Muwei…”
- Lan Muwei’s expression flickered for an instant, but soon she calmed herself again as she continued walking over towards Feng Shihan, who held her employment offer.
- Once she took her employment offer, she felt that she was now one step closer to her goal.
- All of the interviewers clapped their hands for her. Lin Yayu was the only one who was gritting her teeth and stomping her foot. Her eyes showed extreme dissatisfaction. Yet, she could only suppress herself because Feng Shihan was still here. She needed to smile and act elegantly.
- Lan Muwei swiftly read through the conditions of her employment offer. She frowned just because of her salary. She would only be paid somewhere from 10,000 to 50,000 per month. This meager amount of money wouldn’t be enough for her to do anything.
- Previously, many companies offered her monthly salaries ranging in the millions, along with excellent benefits. Yet, she had politely refused them all. Now that she had a new identity and no longer had a designer license, the offered salary had decreased by so many times.
- Lan Muwei could only mentally sigh as she accepted her fate and signed her signature on the employment contract. Things were just beginning. She could take things slowly. She was willing to wait for her revenge.
- Not long after the recruitment fair ended, Mrs. Smith arrived. She was wearing a suit as she walked over with a domineering aura.
- Lan Muwei watched Fu Chen smile and reach his hand out to greet Mrs. Smith. However, Mrs. Smith didn’t even glance at him as she continued walking forward.
- Lan Muwei was really delighted by this. This Mrs. Smith understood her so well! She would definitely design several more excellent clothing designs for Mrs. Smith to express her thanks.
- “Wanwan, I didn’t expect to see you here as well.” Mrs. Smith smiled elegantly as she came up to hug Lan Muwei.
- Lan Muwei was somewhat mystified as she slowly inquired, “Mrs. Smith, why are you here?”
- “The restaurant behind this hotel is one that I personally designed and opened. Every year, I will return here to personally see how things are going,” Mrs. Smith explained. “Let’s go and see it together. Shihan, you come along as well.”
- Feng Shihan had a dark expression as he had been cast aside and ignored. He frustratedly tugged on his tie as he stared at Lan Muwei’s back with an ice-cold glare.
- Lin Yayu was incredibly jealous as she saw Lan Muwei grabbing all the attention. She hurriedly walked over and blocked the two of them. Lin Yayu reached out her hand and was about to touch Mrs. Smith when the latter backed away, causing Lin Yayu’s hand to miss and awkwardly remain in midair.
- “We’ll go around another way,” Mrs. Smith stated in a cold and slow tone. She typically ignored strangers that she didn’t know or care about.
- Lin Yayu’s face became red out of embarrassment as she swiftly withdrew her hand. Without caring about her loss of face, Lin Yayu immediately spoke up. “Mrs. Smith, Su Wan is a vicious schemer. You absolutely can’t allow yourself to be fooled by her appearance.”
- Lan Muwei furrowed her eyebrows, but she didn’t turn around and instead continued walking forward with Mrs. Smith. Lan Muwei wasn’t going to worry about someone so insignificant.
- Lin Yayu kept following them and making up trash talk about Su Wan.
- Mrs. Smith had an icy expression as she gently patted Lan Muwei’s hand before turning around and pressuring Lin Yayu with her domineering aura. “You spend so much effort trying to tell me all this. Are you saying that I was blind to have made friends with Su Wan?”
- Lin Yayu’s red facial expression instantly collapsed as she stiffly shook her head and tried to explain. “N, no, Mrs. Smith, I just mean that you shouldn’t be fooled. Su Wan really is such a person,” Lin Yayu tried to convince her.
- “What you really mean is that I don’t know how to judge others, and that I’ve mistaken fish guts for a pearl,” Mrs. Smith spoke in a chilly voice. “I never misjudge others. Su Wan is a pearl, while you’re the one who’s fish guts. If you keep blabbering, I’ll directly sue you for slander.”
- Lan Muwei was truly moved by this. Even her younger sister had only thought about scheming against her and having her die so that she could obtain her heart.
- Lan Muwei hadn’t felt any true warmth ever since her mother died. But now, she was feeling such true warmth from Mrs. Smith.
- Fu Chen took a deep and meaningful glance at Lan Muwei. He followed her and Mrs. Smith to the restaurant and picked the adjacent table to sit down at.
- Fu Chen walked up to Mrs. Smith, took out a business card, and handed it to her with both hands as he spoke respectfully and politely. “Mrs. Smith, I am Fu Chen, the CEO of the Fu Corporation. I know that you have some property in Shen City. I wish to be able to discuss this with you at a later date.”
- Although Fu Chen was secretly a vicious beast, he was quite skilled at behaving properly. Just how had she fallen in love with such a man before? She truly must have been so blind!
- Mrs. Smith smiled at Lan Muwei and said in a gentle tone, “Wanwan, help me take this business card.” Lan Muwei forced down the disgust in her heart as she took the business card.
- Mrs. Smith’s eyes didn’t change expression one bit as she then commented, “President Fu, I’m not interested in selling that property for the time being. I’ll be sure to notify you immediately when I’m interested.”
- Fu Chen had a dark expression as he clenched his fists. He opened his mouth, but forced down what he was about to say in the end. He stiffly replied, “Alright, please contact me at that time, Mrs. Smith.”
- Fu Chen then left without even turning around to look back at them.
- Fu Chen was really prideful. He was also the CEO of the renowned Fu Corporation. Yet, it was as if he was being haunted today, since he kept meeting people who wouldn’t give him face.
- Lan Muwei chuckled as she joked, “Mrs. Smith, are you really intending on informing him if you sell your property?”
- Mrs. Smith shook her head as she glanced at Feng Shihan who was sitting across from her, playing the part of a silent ice sculpture who hadn’t said a single word. “I already signed a contract with Shihan. This property is already his. Even if President Fu wants to buy the property, it wouldn’t be from me.”
- Feng Shihan slowly sipped his black coffee. No wonder Mrs. Smith had been so calm when Fu Chen was asking about the property earlier. She was definitely a sly old fox.
- “Mrs. Smith, the two of us still have matters to attend to, so we’ll be leaving first.” Feng Shihan’s gaze was like an icy sword as he looked at Lan Muwei and grabbed onto her wrist.
- Lan Muwei shook off his hand. She had just arrived at Mrs. Smith’s restaurant, so she wanted to taste the food here. Of course she wouldn’t want to leave.
- “Feng Shihan, you can leave first. I don’t have anything to do, so I’d like to accompany Mrs. Smith. Rest assured, I’ll return home on time.”
- She broke free from him and gave him a gesture of goodbye.
- Feng Shihan’s gaze became even icier. She wasn’t even addressing him as her husband now.
