Chapter 12 - Slap in the Face
- A cold look appeared in Lan Muwei’s eyes as she smiled slightly while folding her arms. She pretended that she didn’t hear anything and didn’t react.
- Lin Yayu was unable to accept being ignored like this. She walked over while seeing red, but still spoke in an intimate fashion. “Wanwan, I know that you look down on me, but I really do wish to learn from you.” She even lowered her head as if she was aggrieved.
- So, Lin Yayu was trying to show up Su Wan?
- According to Su Wan’s memories, she didn’t have any special hobbies. She was simply an ordinary girl who led a plain lifestyle.
- At such a public venue, everyone’s attention was naturally drawn to the two women. Not only would refusing cause her to lose face, it would even affect Feng Shihan.
- Lan Muwei smiled gently, appearing as if she was an alluring fairy who had gotten lost in the mortal realm. Her voice was sonorous to behold as she slowly replied, “Alright, I agree. What would you like to compete in?”
- Lin Yayu smiled in satisfaction. She wanted Su Wan to be disgraced in public. Only then would she feel satisfied and happy.
- She pointed at a nearby piano in the hotel and exclaimed with an excited voice, “Let’s compete on the piano. Wanwan, your piano skills are so good.”
- Lan Muwei had an icy look in her eyes. According to her memories, Su Wan had hardly ever played the piano before. Su Wan only knew how to play the easiest “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” song on the piano. However, Lan Muwei truly was skilled at the piano.
- “Alright.” Lan Muwei nodded slightly while agreeing with a light tone.
- Lin Yayu excitedly licked her lips. “Wanwan, then I’ll be first to play a song for everyone.” Lin Yayu sat down on the piano bench and placed her hands on the piano before Lan Muwei could even respond.
- “Sure, you can go first.” This actually would save Lan Muwei some effort. If she had gone first instead, she was sure that Lin Yayu would find all sorts of excuses to not perform the piano afterwards.
- Lin Yayu smiled as she played a famous song from a modern composer. The song was elegant and moving. Everyone nodded in acclaim. Lin Yayu was highly satisfied with everyone’s reactions.
- “Wanwan, I’m not good at the piano. It’s your turn.” Lin Yayu elegantly got up and spoke respectfully as she left the piano bench.
- Lan Muwei sat down calmly. No wonder Lin Yayu had wanted to compete at the piano with her. Lin Yayu really did have some skills. However, Lin Yayu had been destined to lose from the moment that she chose the piano.
- Lan Muwei placed her fingers on the piano keys. Every note sounded like a stream that slowly poured through a mountain and into everyone’s hearts. It was as if this music was scenic.
- Just earlier, Lin Yayu’s piano piece only had sound, while Lan Muwei’s piano piece was music that had a rich soul.
- Everyone was in a daze at the end of the song. They finally reacted only after a long while. Everyone started clapping while still being absorbed in the song that had already finished.
- Mrs. Smith even went up to the front and sincerely praised her. “Su Wan, the music that you played really made me feel so relaxed. It was wonderful.”
- Mrs. Smith rarely praised others. Her words were definitely recognition for Lan Muwei.
- Lin Yayu gritted her teeth with an unwilling expression. She tightly clenched her hands. Even though she had clearly wanted to give Su Wan a lesson, she had instead become Su Wan’s stepping stone.
- “Yayu, I thought that maybe your piano skills would have improved, but I didn’t expect that they were still… Next time, if I have a chance, I’ll make sure to properly teach you.” Lan Muwei didn’t forget to spread salt on Lin Yayu’s wound.
- Lin Yayu paused for a moment and barely managed to maintain a stiff smile on her face as she squeezed each word out from between her teeth. “Alright, Wanwan. I still have something to do, so I’ll be leaving first.”
- Feng Shihan’s expression became even more curious. He had especially investigated Su Wan’s information before getting married to her. The information had said nothing about Su Wan knowing how to play the piano. Yet, her performance just now was definitely at an incredibly high level, at 8th level in piano or more.
- Su Wan now seemed to have become so mysterious.
- After the banquet ended, Mrs. Smith went to the trouble of asking for Lan Muwei’s contact information. Negotiations for her collaboration project with the Feng Corporation also went really well.
- Lan Muwei and Feng Shihan acted like an intimate couple as they got on the car together, but Feng Shihan immediately shook off her hand and sat as far away as possible from her when they got on the car. Lan Muwei didn’t try to get close to him.
- She was wearing 10 cm high heels and had been standing for several hours. Her feet were now becoming numb, so she closed her eyes and rested.
- “Su Wan, when did you learn how to play the piano?” Feng Shihan slowly spoke up in his icy tone.
- Lan Muwei opened her eyes and lowered her head slightly while furrowing her eyebrows. Her heart skipped a beat, so she took a deep breath to calm herself down as she replied in a natural tone, “My mother taught me the piano back when I was really young. I was interested in it, so I often practiced the piano at home.”
- Feng Shihan’s suspicions only further increased. It wouldn’t be possible to achieve such a high level through self-practice alone. “Have you ever tried to get a certification before?”
- “No, I haven’t. My mother patiently taught me while she was still alive.” Lan Muwei was quite worried, as she knew that her explanation was really unreasonable. In her previous life, she had actually been certified as 9th level in piano.
- “Oh.” Feng Shihan responded lightly without asking anymore.
- Lan Muwei was quite worried for the duration of the entire car ride. She finally heaved a sigh of relief when she was able to return to her room. She vowed to herself to try and reduce the discrepancy between her character and Su Wan’s character.
- The next few days passed quite peacefully.
- Feng Shihan often didn’t return home until very late due to his work. He didn’t mention a single thing to Lan Muwei about the upcoming recruitment fair. This made her suspect that he had forgotten about this matter already.
- That wouldn’t do! She had already spent a massive 60 million just to try and get into the recruitment fair already. No matter what, she had to obtain an invitation letter tonight.
- Lan Muwei sat on the sofa to wait for Feng Shihan to return. For once, Feng Shihan returned home at 8 p.m., which was quite early for him. Lan Muwei went up to him flirtatiously while fawning over him. “Dear husband, did you forget about your promise with me?”
- Feng Shihan blinked rather quickly. He smelled a faint shampoo scent from her which was different from the stinky perfume that other women wore. This scent helped to ease his fatigue from all his work over the past few days.
- Feng Shihan didn’t respond, so Lan Muwei intimately held on to his arm. “Dear husband, you promised me that as long as I…”
- She was interrupted before she could finish. “Follow me.”
- Lan Muwei cursed at him in her heart while lowering her head and swiftly following him to the study.
- Feng Shihan brought out an invitation letter to the recruitment fair from his desk drawer and placed it on the table. Lan Muwei immediately scooped it up with a delighted expression. She lowered her head to admire this invitation letter that she had spent so much to acquire as she lightly and swiftly turned around.
- Lan Muwei soon learned what it was like to fall from heaven to hell in an instant. She comically collided with a nearby wooden cabinet and fell over.
- She closed her eyes, but the painful impact didn’t come as she had expected. One arm grabbed her thin waist as she fell into Feng Shihan’s embrace.
- Lan Muwei felt that her hand was touching something soft. When she opened her eyes, she found that her hand was forcefully grabbing on to Feng Shihan’s chest.
- Right now, her honest thought was that his chest actually felt really nice.
- “Let go already,” Feng Shihan said while gritting his teeth in anger. Even veins were beginning to bulge on his forehead.
- Lan Muwei smiled delicately and removed her hand while saying, “Dear husband…”
- Feng Shihan interrupted her before she could say anything else. “Get out of here immediately. Otherwise, you can stop dreaming about your invitation letter.”
- Lan Muwei pouted and unwillingly walked out of the study. She looked over at her delicate hand and recalled the earlier pleasant sensation.
- Next time, she would definitely do her best to strip Feng Shihan naked. His incredibly handsome face was definitely worth drooling over.
- Later that night, Lin Yayu appeared at a certain bar. She drank alcohol constantly in order to drown her frustrations. At this moment, one pudgy and one skinny hoodlum appeared in front of her.
- Lin Yayu suddenly felt like she saw hope again. She put her hand out and asked, “Where are the pictures I asked for?”
