Chapter 7

  • I lied about not seeing the guys face, because he looked rich and loaded and I don't think we can win him, besides there's not much evidence, I thought, we will just end up getting hurt ourselves, that's the main reason why I didn't want to tell my mum about it.
  • “You didn't see his face?” mum asked, she sounded so sad.
  • “Yes mum I didn't see his face, and it seemed like he was very drunk, that's why I could escape from him mum.” I told my mum, standing up again.
  • “Mum please can we drop this and move on, I don't want to talk about it anymore, please mum.” I cried walking close to my mum.
  • She just hugged me tight in her arms, I guess she is feeling more miserable than I am right now, because I could feel that she is crying while she hugged me and I bet she didn't want me to see the tears.
  • ***
  • Please let me go..., let go of me please…”
  • I suddenly woke up from my sleep, to see mum sitting beside my bed.
  • "Mum..." I called immediately, surprised to see her there, feeling a little startled.
  • “Having a bad dream?” Mum asked peering at me with inquisitive eyes.
  • “Yes mum, it’s only a bad dream.” I replied, getting a hold of myself.
  • “Do you want to talk about it?” she asked still looking at me with those peering eyes, and I guess she already knows what my dream is all about, I think I can see it from the look on her face.
  • She is looking so pale this morning, and it’s as if she has aged more by the night.
  • “No mum, it’s nothing, only a bad dream.” I replied, I can’t possibly tell her that I just dreamt about my being raped.
  • “Okay, go freshen up and come have breakfast your already running late for school, Vicky is also here waiting for you.” She said and slowly stood up from my bed and walked out of my room.
  • I covered by face briefly with my palms after watching mum leave my room, I feel really sorry for her, her heart must be broken when she learnt that I was raped, I thought.
  • I got out of bed and freshened up quickly, got dressed for school even though I am feeling a bit reluctant to go to school today, and then went out to meet mum and Vicky who I heard is waiting for me.
  • “Come sit, breakfast is ready.” Mum said when I walked into the dining room, she is already seated with Vicky when I walked in.
  • “Hello Kim.” Vicky greeted, turning to face me.
  • “Hi Vicky.” I replied as I pulled out a chair and sat down beside her on the dining table.
  • We said the grace and started eating as that has been mum’s tradition, although I do not believe much in her faith but I have to respect that, even dad was never a fan of her faith but since it made mum happy, dad would do as she had wanted.
  • “Thanks mum.” I said after eating.
  • “Thanks mum.” Vicky said too, as she also addresses my mum as ‘mum’ sometimes.
  • “You’re welcome girls.” She replied, I can see that she is trying her best to sound and act normal.
  • “Put the dishes in the dish washer and don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it later, you guys are running late for school already.” She said as we carried the plates out of the dining table.
  • “Okay mum.” I replied, as I and Vicky carried the plates to the dish washer.
  • “Mum, are you going to be okay by yourself.” I asked when I came back to meet her still seated at the dining table, she doesn’t seem to be her usual self today, because she would have been moving up and down by now hurrying me to go to school so that I would not be late.
  • “Yes darling.” She replied, letting out a weak smile.
  • “Are you sure mum? Or should I not go to school today?” I asked, wishing she would tell me to stay home for today.
  • “Yes darling, you go now or you are going to be late, don’t worry about me, I’m alright.” She said and urged me to go ahead.
  • “Okay, bye mum.” I said, waving at her and she waved back at me.
  • “See you later Mrs. Brown.” Vicky said to her and she waved at her too.
  • “How are you Kim?” Vicky asked immediately we stepped out of the house, I know that she is dying to find out what happened to me as well as how I managed to escape from my kidnappers.
  • “I’m Okay Vicky.” I said without looking at her.
  • “Are you sure?” she stopped and asked, looking at me with such inquisitiveness in her eyes.
  • “Yes.” I replied as I stopped as well to look at her.
  • “Then, what was that look I saw on your mum’s face back at home? Cause I know and feel in my heart that everything is not okay.” She asked, and I can see so much concern in her eyes.
  • “Don’t worry I’ll tell you all about it later, let’s just go, we are already late for school.” I replied pulling her arm and urging her to walk on.
  • “I’ll tell you everything I promise.” I told her and with that we walked on as fast as we can to school...
