• Mark didn't give up like I assumed he would. I stayed in the room with Mary, who kept on hissing every chance she got. From the way she was acting, I guessed she would leave the room to stalk Mark. It wasn't far-fetched. I knew she could do that. Luckily, she didn't. She remained in my room throughout the day and even brought dinner up for me, so I wouldn't see Mark who was still around.
• We didn't leave my room until two days later. Had it not been for the antenatal appointment I had, she wouldn't have allowed me out of the room. She was like a mother hen, protective of her chick.
