Chapter 8 Rogue

  • "Can you keep it down? Can't you see I'm trying to help the injured?"
  • Nelson snapped back angrily.
  • Without waiting for a response, he pulled up Bob's shirt, ready to begin treatment. The wound on Bob's abdomen was several inches long and still bleeding profusely, having pierced internal organs. If Nelson didn't act fast, Bob wouldn't survive another half hour.
  • "Are you a doctor? Do you have a medical license? How dare you treat someone without one?" Elsa glared at Nelson with a hint of disgust. His unkempt appearance and camouflage outfit made him seem more like a reckless adventurer than a capable medic. Given his earlier rash actions, she was convinced he was just showing off.
  • "I'm a veteran, but since when do you need a license to save a life?" Nelson shot back, clearly annoyed. Without wasting more time, he used his qi to guide a gold needle into a crucial point between Bob's chest, several inches deep.
  • Nelson could feel Bob's life force dwindling rapidly due to the excessive blood loss. The needle, imbued with genuine energy, would help stabilize him for now.
  • "What do you think you're doing? We've already called an ambulance. It's not your place to intervene. Do you want to be responsible if he dies? This isn't a time for your grandstanding!" Elsa ranted, furious as she moved to pull Nelson away.
  • The onlookers murmured their disapproval, seeing Nelson's actions as reckless. Many doubted his competence, believing he was more likely to harm than heal. Some even speculated he was mimicking scenes from novels, acting more out of fantasy than genuine medical knowledge.
  • Nelson focused on his task, and ignored Elsa's approach. His treatment was reaching a critical point as he used more needles to stimulate the major acupoints near Bob's wound, helping to stop the bleeding and accelerate healing.
  • As Elsa got closer, Nelson instinctively pushed her away without looking, muttering, "Tigress, can you give it a rest? I'm almost done."
  • However, he quickly realized something was off. His hand had landed on something soft, and he had reflexively squeezed. He turned to find Elsa's face turning bright red with fury and embarrassment.
  • The crowd stared in shock. Nelson had accidentally grabbed Elsa's breast, and his unintentional squeeze only made things worse.
  • They thought Nelson's audacity was too much—acting like a rogue in broad daylight, not even sparing the police.
  • Even Dianne, Thea, and Elliot averted their eyes, feeling utterly embarrassed for Nelson.
  • "Uh, sorry!" Nelson stammered, quickly withdrawing his hand, but couldn't help thinking, "Wow, that's huge ... "
  • "You pervert! I'll kill you!" Elsa shouted, drawing her gun and pointing it at Nelson.
  • Despite knowing it was an accident, Elsa was livid. She'd never even had a boyfriend, and now she'd been groped by a stranger in public. Her rage was palpable, and she was tempted to shoot him on the spot.
  • "Stop what you're doing right now! If you touch that patient again, I will shoot!" Elsa threatened though she had no intention of actually firing. Her goal was to make Nelson back off to prevent any further harm.
  • Nelson, having nearly finished his treatment, knew Bob's life was now out of immediate danger. The ambulance would arrive soon to provide blood transfusions and stitch up the wound, ensuring there were no lasting complications.
  • He complied with Elsa's demand, pulling out the needles and stepping aside.
  • "If anything happens to him, you'll be facing serious charges!" Elsa warned.
  • Elsa put away her gun and stomped hard on Nelson's foot, causing him to grimace in pain.
  • You really can't mess with a tigress like Elsa!
  • While waiting for the ambulance, Elsa ordered her officers to take Tony and the other troublemakers to the police station for processing. She stayed behind to wait for the ambulance and planned to question the doctors about the injured man's condition. If there were any life-threatening issues, she would hold Nelson accountable and bring him to the station.
  • Over ten minutes later, the ambulance finally arrived. If Nelson hadn't treated Bob earlier, he might not have made it.
  • The paramedics quickly assessed Bob, stitched his wound, and started a blood transfusion. They assured Bob's family, who had rushed over, that while Bob had lost a lot of blood, his condition was now stable. With some rest and recovery time, he would be fine.
  • Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, including Elsa, who felt a sense of relief knowing she had tried to stop Nelson from performing his dubious treatment.
  • But then the doctor voiced his confusion: "Given the severity of the injury, with internal organ damage, the patient should have gone into shock from blood loss and been much harder to stabilize."
  • "How is it that when we arrived, the bleeding had already stopped and his condition was improving? Can anyone explain what happened here?" he asked, curious.
  • All eyes turned to Nelson. He was the only one who had treated Bob. Had he stabilized Bob's condition? Many had thought he was just being reckless.
  • Elsa looked at Nelson in disbelief. Could he know what he was doing? Had she misjudged him?
  • "Doctor, this man was the one who treated the injured person. Could he have stabilized the condition with his needles?" Elsa asked, voicing everyone's doubts.
  • "Needles? That's impossible! Using needles to stop bleeding and improve such a severe injury? I've never heard of that. Traditional medicine is outdated!" the doctor scoffed. "It's likely due to the patient's unique constitution and quick recovery. Medical miracles do happen."
  • The doctor glanced at Nelson and immediately shook his head. As a physician, he believed that traditional medicine was completely misleading people. He couldn't believe that acupuncture from traditional medicine could have such powerful effects.
  • Moreover, this young man, how much medical skill could he possibly possess? Surely, he was just fooling people!
  • The crowd nodded in agreement, thinking Bob must have just been lucky.
  • Nelson, however, was not pleased with the doctor's dismissal of traditional medicine. "You quack! Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's not real. How dare you say acupuncture can't stabilize an injury?"
  • "Traditional medicine is a treasure of our heritage, passed down for centuries, while modern medicine has only been around for a few decades. How can you dismiss the wisdom of our ancestors?"
  • "You ... !" The doctor was left speechless.
  • "Enough already! Do you always need to be the center of attention? Are you trying to claim credit for stabilizing the injury? Should I give you a medal?"
  • "I really don't understand how someone like you exists. You call yourself a veteran? You're a disgrace to the military!"
  • Elsa said, her eyes filled with undisguised contempt.
  • She couldn't believe Nelson's arrogance. Without any medical qualifications, he still dared to challenge the doctor.
  • It was laughable that for a moment she actually thought Nelson had stabilized the injured man's condition. Now, it seemed she had overthought it.
  • "Bimbo, I don't have time for you," Nelson replied coldly, not wanting to stay any longer. He gathered his family and left.
  • Hearing herself called "bimbo" and recalling Nelson's earlier indiscretion, Elsa fumed, grinding her teeth in frustration.
  • "You pervert, I better not see you again, or you'll regret it!"
