Chapter 3 You Must Die
- With Yulian's formidable presence, Scarface and his men were naturally wary and didn't dare to act recklessly. This also allowed Tigris's funeral to proceed smoothly.
- Yulian's eyes were slightly red, and he said in a deep voice, “Mr. and Mrs. Hepburn, I'm sorry. As the capo and his guide into the gang, I failed to protect Tigris. Now, this...”
- Lorenzo quickly waved his hand. “Mr. Lazzari please don't say that. Over the past five years, we've seen all the kindness you've shown Tigris and our family. Tigris is lucky to have you as his buddy!”
- “Yes, Mr. Lazzari. Thank you for bringing Tigris home. My son sacrificed himself for the gang. He's a martyr, a great hero. We're not sad. I'm proud of him.” Larissa wanted to comfort Yulian, who was blaming himself, but as the words reached her lips, she couldn't help but choke up, tears streaming down her face.
- The bond between a mother and her child was profound. How could it not be heartbreaking to send off one's loved one?
- “Mrs. Hepburn, accept my condolences. Buddy, farewell!”
- Yulian had countless words in his heart, but he swallowed his words and merely uttered two simple sentences. His gaze was deep and cold as he stood straight, giving Tigris' portrait a final salute.
- Countless words, their brotherly affection, and the deep-seated enmity all melted into the last upright posture. This was the greatest respect and remembrance for a fighter.
- Just as Tigris had said before his death, he had no regrets about joining the gang in this life!
- Dying for the gang was worth it.
- At this moment, Scarface and Sharp-eye also felt somewhat embarrassed. With the formidable Yulian present, their task of forced demolition was destined to be unfulfilled that day. Moreover, seeing his deep brotherly affection, he might even settle scores with them later.
- The two old foxes quickly exchanged glances, wanting to take advantage of the chaos and slip away.
- However, as they took a step forward, Yulian's magnetic and icy voice cut through the air like a knife, “Did I say you can leave?”
- He gestured toward the chaos around him, his voice calm yet exuding an irresistible authority. “You think you can leave after smashing my buddy's memorial hall? Kneel down and admit your mistake.”
- Kneel?
- Kneeling was a show of weakness. Even though they were mobsters, they refused to be insulted this way.
- Even though they feared Yulian, Scarface and his companion's hearts were now filled with anger. They glanced at the dozen or so brothers behind them, feeling emboldened. Scarface sneered, “Kid, don't bring trouble upon yourself. We're from Invictus Realty. Just because you know a bit of martial arts, you think you're invincible? I'm telling you, even the deputy mayor of Hofcaster has to show some respect to our chairman! Believe it or not, if you upset us today, we'll tear this dump down!”
- The dozen thugs brandished their steel rods, and the bulldozer outside also revved up, showing off their power.
- Lorenzo panicked and quickly pulled Yulian aside to advise him, “Mr. Lazzari, forget it. Invictus Group is powerful, and their men are ruthless thugs. We can't afford to provoke them, we can't afford it...”
- “Yes, yes. Tigris' funeral has concluded smoothly, so let them go.”
- The elderly couple kept yielding, which only fueled Yulian's simmering anger. Tigris had sacrificed for the gang, and now his family was being repeatedly bullied by these thugs. If Tigris found out about this in heaven, he wouldn't be able to rest in peace.
- He was determined to settle the scores!
- His face expressionless, Yulian paid no heed to the gang of ruffians. He said in a deep voice, “Kneel down and apologize to my buddy!”
- This time, his tone was noticeably colder and more violent. Yulian was near his limit.
- He never repeated the same words, and no one dared to make him say it a third time.
- Scarface's complexion immediately changed. He spat fiercely, brandishing his steel rod and cursing, “D*mn, you think you're somebody now? Screw it, kid. Let me tell you, we're from Invictus Realty. Do you want to mess with us?”
- Before he could finish his sentence, Scarface saw a dark shadow flash before his eyes. Following a loud thud, his nose was smashed, blood streaming from his broken head. He let out a miserable cry, and the violence in his heart was ignited. Waving the steel rod in his hand, he shouted, “You really want to fight? Come on, I'll take you on...”
- Clang!
- Yulian blocked with his forearm, causing the steel rod to bend and fall to the ground. The recoil was so strong that it broke the hand of Scarface. Immediately after, he saw something he would consider an unimaginable nightmare for the rest of his life.
- Yulian grabbed the steel rod with both hands and twisted it. In an instant, it turned into a spiral, the smooth rod tip turning into a sharp spearhead.
- Whoosh!
- The tip was thrust forward, puncturing Scarface's thigh. His entire thigh was instantly penetrated. Blood gushed out, a horrifying sight to behold.
- Scarface was in pain and fear, screaming and shouting for help.
- “If you want to live, kneel down and apologize!”
- Yulian remained expressionless, tossing Scarface like a dead dog in front of Tigris' memorial tablet. He forced Scarface, with his thigh impaled by an iron spear, to bang his head on the ground three times in front of Tigris' memorial tablet before letting him go.
- Sharp-eye and the other thugs' hearts were about to leap out of their chests, their bodies covered in goosebumps. These thugs thought they were tough enough, but compared to this person, they were as innocent as primary school students.
- At that moment, Yulian's icy gaze swept over them as he coldly said, “Would you prefer to bow down yourselves, or shall I assist you?”
- Sharp-eye and the other thugs were scared out of their wits after seeing Scarface's miserable state. They had long forgotten how bold and boastful they had been earlier. They all knelt in unison, banging their heads against the ground in front of Tigris's memorial tablet, crying and wailing.
- “Tigris, I'm despicable. I shouldn't have bullied your parents and smashed your memorial hall. I'm a scum...”
- “Please rest in peace and spare my unworthy life...”
- “I am a good-for-nothing. I am worthless!”
- Seeing the sorry state of the Invictus Group thugs, the Hepburn family was shocked but grateful to Yulian. Such a scene also attracted the villagers to watch. Seeing these scoundrels getting punished, they clapped and cheered, calling Yulian a hero.
- “Mr. Lazzari, thank you. You've finally given Tigris some justice.” Lorenzo trembled as he shook Yulian's hand in gratitude, though his forehead still bore traces of worry. “But Invictus Realty is a tyrant in Hofcaster. They act recklessly and lawlessly. While it's satisfying to see them put in their place today, what if they come knocking on our door someday?”
- Yulian said solemnly, “Mr. Hepburn, don't worry. For every person from Invictus Realty who comes, I'll take them down! As long as I, Yulian, am here, they won't dare to set foot in Evergreen Village!”
- His words were firm and strong.
- Even the villagers who were just there to watch couldn't help but be infected by Yulian's spirit. They applauded him and called him a hero.
- “How dare you go against Invictus Realty? Let's see how many heads you have on your shoulders!”
- At that very moment, a sinister voice laced with malice exploded from the crowd. There were over thirty fierce bandits, dressed in black from head to toe, who exuded an aura of cold ferocity. Their combat prowess was evidently leagues ahead of Scarface's gang.
- Leading this group was a bald man in his forties, adorned in gold and silver. He was thin, with a mouthful of gold teeth that gave off an extremely menacing vibe when he smiled.
- His ostentatious entrance rendered the scene momentarily silent.
- “It's over, we're in deep trouble. He's the boss of Invictus Realty, Marco Gotti. With several hundred underlings, he's a tyrant. It's said he had also taken several lives. Mr. Lazzari, you should leave quickly.” Lorenzo's face turned pale as he panicked.
- “Don't worry, Mr. Hepburn. Since they're here, I'll deal with them,” Yulian said calmly.
- Upon seeing Marco arrive, Scarface and his crew seemed to have seen their savior. They joyously shouted phrases like “Mr. Gotti”, “Stand up for us”, “Avenge us” and so on.
- Slap!
- “You useless bunch of trash!” Marco's face twisted with displeasure as he slapped the already severely injured Scarface across the face, sending the latter rolling on the ground in agony. The fact that he could be so ruthless to his own loyal henchman showed just how cold-hearted and brutal he could be.
- Marco sized up Yulian before asking, “Was it you who beat my worthless men into such a state?”
- Yulian replied calmly, “Since you call them worthless, isn't it for the good of the people that I deal with them?”
- Sharp-eye and his gang of thugs felt ashamed and angry, wishing they could bury themselves in the ground.
- Marco looked at Yulian with surprise, then burst into laughter. “Haha, kid, you're bold and gutsy. But in the territory of Hofcaster, strength alone won't get you anywhere. You've got to be ruthless!”
- Straightening his collar, he looked down with disdain. “Judging from your skills, were you a capo? If you have the guts to kill me, come on, what are you waiting for? Too scared?”
- He cracked a grin, revealing a mouthful of gold teeth, appearing particularly sleazy and disgusting. “You don't dare, but I do. You think you can fight? Maybe you can take on one or ten, but can you handle a hundred? Watch how I kill this family of three one by one. I promise none of them will die the same way.”
- Yulian clenched his fists tightly, his eyes filled with killing intent.
- “Haha, capo? Bullsh*t. In front of me, you're nothing!”
- The infinitely arrogant Marco burst into laughter. He picked up a steel rod lying next to him and swung it at the urn on Tigris' altar.
- Bang!
- The entire place fell into utter silence, so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
- “My child!”
- After a long while, Larissa's heart-wrenching cry filled the air.
- The urn shattered, filling the sky with a dance of white dust.
- That was her own flesh and blood!
- That was a valiant hero who sacrificed his life for the gang, dying bravely on the battlefield!
- That was the brother who had stood by Yulian for five years, through life and death!
- But now, his ashes lay scattered on the ground, beneath the feet of these beasts and scum.
- Suddenly, Yulian rose to his feet, his eyes blazing red. The overwhelming murderous intent and rage within him were akin to an ancient beast, abruptly awakened.
- He roughly grabbed Marco's collar and growled, “You must die!”
