Chapter 19 Competition Between The Two Teams
- I'll get straight to the point, Mr. Kirsch. I'm planning to revolt.
- That statement stunned Emmanuel for a moment. He put away the newspaper and pinned his eyes on Tiffany. Straightening his suit, he murmured with a smile, “You may begin.”
- “Huh?” Tiffany was promptly baffled, confused by his reaction.
- Chuckling, Emmanuel elucidated, “You want to launch a protest, no? I'm in a good mood now, so I'll give you three minutes to do that. You may begin.”
- Without warning, sobs filled the air.
- Tiffany was so livid that she burst into tears. She bit her lip hard and plopped down onto the couch.
- “Mr. Kirsch, I'm about to say something unpleasant to you now. Later, you don't need to dismiss me. I'll resign myself. Even if it means losing this job, I want to seek justice for those on our team.”
- Emmanuel listened solemnly without interrupting her. In fact, he even motioned for her to continue speaking.
- “Mr. Kirsch, although you're indeed not obliged to help sales assistants make sales as the CEO, times have changed. Ever since the introduction of the dual CEO system, the sales department has been divided into two teams. It's true that the members of our team are poor at making sales, but you can't just give up on us. Douglas personally brought Sophie to Southspell Corporation to sign the order. How could we compete with him? While Ms. Cabot works really hard, it's still useless. As the leader of our team, you should at least encourage us even if you don't help us make sales, yes? Today, I went with Ms. Cabot to Southspell Corporation. We bumped into Mr. Swanson, Sophie, and the gang there. At that time, Ms. Cabot was bullied atrociously. Mr. Kirsch, you really can't give up on us twenty rookies in the professional world. If you don't bother about us in the slightest, we'll all be bullied dreadfully.”
- As Tiffany spoke, she was again on the verge of tears. Recalling her life in the past few days, she found it absolutely unbearable.
- Those in Douglas' team are really too much. They don't even treat us with basic decency, often ordering us to do grueling chores in the office. At times, we ourselves feel as though we're orphans, abandoned by all. We don't even need to worry about going out to make sales. Instead, we can simply wait until our internship period ends and we're fired.
- “I'm done speaking, Mr. Kirsch. You may dismiss me now,” she mumbled with her head hung low.
- “All right, go back to work since you're done with your protest now. I'm aware of everything you just said.”
- His lips curving into a smirk, Emmanuel added, “I didn't expect Douglas to actually start helping his sales assistants make sales to defeat me. Since you all want to beat them, I'll grant your wish.”
- Tiffany was startled. She had thought she would be given the sack after saying all that, but the man unexpectedly made such a comment.
- When she had left, Emmanuel took out his phone and made a call.
- In a chilly voice, he ordered, “Make a trip to Southspell Corporation, Freddie. I want the project they promised Bellridge Group this morning. Have them come over with the contract before it's time to get off work this evening.”
- After Sophie had signed the project with Southspell Corporation, the entire sales department went into an uproar.
- Everyone was thrilled to the core, laughter reverberating in the office as though they were celebrating the New Year.
- On the contrary, the members of Emmanuel's team, including Eleanor and Tiffany, gathered at a corner of the office pitifully.
- They merely watched as those from Douglas' team celebrated Sophie's success in cinching the huge order.
- “Congratulations, Sophie! You're going to be the vice director soon.”
- “Don't forget us after you become the vice director. We'll be counting on you in the future.”
- “Our team is simply too cool! In just a few days, we managed to seal such a huge deal.”
- Sophie stood in the center of the crowd, praised to the skies by them all. Pride was written all over her face.
- Like an arrogant princess, she sauntered over to Eleanor and the others.
- “Oh, why are you all still sitting around here? Why didn't you go out to make some sales? Ah, I get it now. It's because you wouldn't be able to make any sales even if you were to do so. As such, it's far better to stay in the office and get paid for doing nothing.”
- Those words of hers had everyone in Emmanuel's team lowering their heads, too ashamed to riposte her.
- Sophie then pointed at the performance board and drawled sarcastically, “Do you see that? Today, our team secured an order of twenty-one point eight million. Why is there nothing written for your team? Oh, it turns out that you didn't make any sales. Haha, what a bunch of ne'er-do-wells!”
- “That's enough, Sophie.”
- Tiffany shot to her feet with fury etched across her features. “It was all because Mr. Swanson helped you to close the deal, no? What's the point of being so smug when it was the CEO helping you?”
- Sophie's expression turned grim, and she slapped Tiffany across the face.
- “Let me tell you something. Do you know why all the members of Douglas' team are elites? It's because of Mr. Swanson's excellent leadership. And do you know why you're all lousy? It's because Emmanuel is a piece of trash. Although he's the CEO, I dare call him a loser. If he had the capability, he would've brought you all out to make sales. Can he seal the deal with Southspell Corporation?”
- “Tiffany!” Eleanor immediately reached out and pulled Tiffany into her arms upon seeing that the latter had been slapped. With her face a mask of viciousness, she barked, “Watch it, Sophie! What right do you have to hit her? Heed this warning of mine—don't push me. Otherwise, believe me when I say I'll end you!”
- “What a lunatic.” Sophie knew all too well that the other woman was volatile, so she merely snorted before swaggering away.
- Cradling her face, Tiffany stared at Sophie's back intently, her eyes brimming with hatred. She clenched her fists so hard that veins popped out on her hands.
- Half an hour before getting off work, the sales department had a summary meeting at five-thirty in the afternoon.
- It was an important day since Sophie represented Bellridge Group in signing an order with Southspell Corporation.
- Naturally, both Emmanuel and Douglas attended the meeting.
- “Well, well, well... The contract hasn't been signed, yet you've already written the sales down on the board. Your team is really a step ahead of others, Douglas,” Emmanuel teased.
- The instant he stepped into the conference room, he glimpsed the sales performance on the board.
- “But of course! Being a step ahead of others is a must for sales assistants. If everything goes according to plan, Southspell Corporation will soon send someone over to sign the contract with Sophie. Can't we write it down in advance?” Douglas sneered.
- “Sure.” Emmanuel smiled, sitting down on the CEO's chair. He fixated his eyes on Eleanor and the others.
- Subsequently, Douglas waved a hand. “Before we begin the meeting, Sophie, report our sales performance today to Mr. Kirsch.”
- At once, Sophie stood up and looked at Emmanuel with her head held high and chest puffed out.
- “Mr. Kirsch, our team made a sales order totaling twenty-one point eight million today.”
- Gazing expressionlessly at his team's sales performance that indicated the figure zero on the board, Emmanuel instructed, “Give a report of our sales performance, Eleanor.”
