- I adjusted my mask for what felt like the hundredth time that night, trying to ignore the discomfort of the rough edge against my skin. The brown colored contacts I had put in to disguise my natural gray eye color were making my eyes burn, and my freshly shaven face was itching incessantly. I usually kept a bit of stubble, but I couldn’t risk being recognized tonight.
