Chapter 8 Questioning Choices

  • Aileen
  • I rushed to my room and closed the door behind me. My heart beating loudly in my chest as a sweat rolled down my forehead.
  • I recalled the surprised look on his face when I kissed him on the cheeks.
  • I couldn’t help but chuckle thinking about it. He’s so cute.
  • I can’t believe we are fated mates. It feels so surreal. Like it was a few days ago, I had a crush on him. Then…..I gave up on him when Mom got married and now, destiny brought us together once again. We are fated to be together for life. Even the Moon Goddess wanted it.
  • But then, Mom’s face flashed on my mind.
  • Today, we barely managed to avoid her eyes. If she managed to catch us together like that, it would’ve been a disaster. She had worked hard since childhood to bring me up. I couldn’t break her heart like that.
  • “But, she’s going to learn that he’s your mate eventually. What are you going to do then?” Kiki my wolf added in a sarcastic tone.
  • That’s….I don’t know.
  • “Why don’t you know? You have to know. She’s your mother. Are you going to lie to her? And the way you are, he won’t be able to call you as his Luna also. Are you going to abandon your identity even though you are destined to be a Luna?”
  • My throat went dry. All the questions that she asked me, I don’t have the answer to all these questions at all.
  • For now, I just want to think about Dave and me only. I don’t care about the relationship quo, as long as I get to be together with him for now.
  • “Aren’t you being naïve? If you stay like that, you’ll never be able to call him yours.”
  • Kiki, please be quiet. I said I don’t want to think about it.
  • In the first place, I don’t want to compete against my mom. She’s my mom, not a stranger.
  • “When you mated with her husband? Aren’t you betraying your mom; let alone have a competition.”
  • Betray? I’m betraying Mom?
  • Kiki didn’t say anything after that, letting me deal with everything on my own.
  • But, she’s right. I can’t deny it. I betrayed her when I had let my instincts take over and did that with him. What was I supposed to do there? My body….it was acting on its own.
  • How am I going to face her after this?
  • When I went to stand in front of the mirror, I could imagine myself as Dave’s Luna standing right next to him.
  • But, the reality doesn’t change, that she’s not his true mate. They are only married because Mom took a liking to him, and he wanted to marry her only.
  • I don’t think, he has any feelings for her, and even if he does; I want to confirm all these things from him. So, we need to talk.
  • I stepped inside the shower after taking off my clothes. When I stared at my naked body in the mirror, I recalled how he touched me last night.
  • That may be the best birthday gift I ever had. Need to thank Dave for that.
  • Changing into a plain crop top and a short jeans I opened my door to head out. Only to see Dave standing outside my door.
  • My jaw dropped in surprise.
  • “You?”
  • He seemed all dressed up and ready for office. And I couldn’t help but admire how he looked.
  • He looked sideways then grabbed me by the hand. “Come inside.”
  • Then dragged me inside my room and locked the door behind him.
  • “Is anything the matter?” I asked, observing his confused expression.
  • He heaved a sigh. “Yes, you forgot something when you came out of my room a while ago. I came to return it.”
  • Something I forgot?
  • “What is it?”
  • He searched inside his pocket and pulled out my black panties from last night.
  • I was stunned to see him carrying it.
  • My cheeks flustered red out of embarrassment.
  • “I-I’m sorry for leaving it in your room!” I apologized, snatching it away from his hands. “I didn’t mean to leave it there, I swear!” Yeah, I know that,” he answered, in a composed tone.
  • “They were mixed with my clothes. I found it when I was searching for my watch. You don’t need to apologize over this little thing.”
  • “I see….”
  • Thank god, it wasn’t my fault.
  • Wait, I wanted to ask him questions. Is this the right time for it?
  • “Um, I had-“
  • “I’m heading downstairs for breakfast do you want to join?” he asked. “Your mom is still asleep. I don’t think she’s going to wake up any minute. Look over her till I’m away for work, will you?”
  • I nodded in response. “Don’t worry about her. Let’s go and have breakfast. I was quite hungry anyway.”
  • “Me too,” he replied with a smile, patting my head.
  • “Um, I had something to talk about with you. When will you be back from work? Or do you have time now?” I asked.
  • He looked a bit hesitant. “Uh….I’m late for work actually. Can we talk later when I come back from work in the evening?”
  • “Hm…sure. Let’s go then.”
  • We both went out of the room and then went downstairs.
  • The servants greeted him, “Good Morning Master.”
  • “Morning.”
  • “Good Morning, Miss,” one maid greeted me also.
  • I only nodded at her.
  • Then, sat down next to him.
  • While they served breakfast, he was on his phone talking with someone. My eyes kept wandering in his direction.
  • From now on, we’ll be living under the same roof. A dream come true, isn’t it?
  • “Why are you giving her peanut butter on her bread? She’s allergic to it!” Dave’s voice snapped me back to reality.
  • He was yelling at the maid standing next to me.
  • She looked quite guilty. “She’s allergic to it? I didn’t know that. I’m sorry,” she apologized.
  • “Yes, remember it from next time,” he grunted. “Even a little contact with it is quite deadly for her.”
  • “Why are you yelling at her?” I asked.
  • “She was going to give you peanut butter with jam. She doesn’t know you are allergic to it,” Dave replied with a concerned look.
  • Oh…yeah. Even I forgot about it. But, he remembered.
  • “I’m sorry Master, I won’t make the mistake again next time,” the maid apologized, bowing her head.
  • “It’s okay, you can just take it. No need to apologize anymore. Everyone makes mistakes. It was my fault for not telling you earlier,” I replied.
  • “Sorry about it.”
  • “You don’t need to apologize, I’ll take it right away,” she said, picking up the plate and everything from there the very minute.
  • Dave was angry at her because he was worried about my safety. Why do I feel so happy about it?
