Chapter 13 I'll Fulfill All Your Wishes

  • Victoria calmed down instantly after sending that message.
  • I did it. Now I just need to wait for a reply.
  • However, Alaric didn't reply to her immediately.
  • She took a look at the time and guessed, He's probably working now. He might be in a meeting or business dinner, so his phone is probably on silent. He'll see my message when he's done with work.
  • Time passed by excruciatingly slowly, so Victoria decided to sleep. She changed into her pajamas and closed the curtains. The room fell silent as she climbed into bed and closed her eyes.
  • Ding!
  • At the same time, inside an office of Cadogan Group, Claudia, who was calmly sitting on the sofa, couldn't help but flicker her eyes as she stared at the message on the phone before her.
  • The message was simple. It only had two words that said, 'I'm pregnant.'
  • At first, Claudia thought it was a work message for Alaric or a spam message. She didn't expect it to be from Victoria.
  • Claudia instinctively looked up to see Alaric working in his office. Did Victoria seduce Alaric to bed? Does she want Alaric to take responsibility for sending this message?
  • The office was extremely quiet. They couldn't even hear the street noise because they were in the higher stories of the tall building.
  • Claudia lowered her eyes which had a dark look in them. Her intuition was telling her that Alaric had feelings for Victoria. If he found out that Victoria was pregnant, then…
  • She wanted to delete that message, but a thought popped into her mind when she was about to click on delete.
  • 'Abort it. Let's part on good terms.' She quickly sent that message to Victoria when Alaric wasn't focused on her before deleting the messages entirely.
  • After that, she let out a breath of relief but fell into deep thought. Her fingernails dug deep into her palms.
  • Victoria… What does she want with that text? Is she trying to take Alaric from me?
  • Claudia bit on her lower lip at that thought. Don't even think about keeping Alaric's baby, Victoria. If you know what's best for you, you'll abort the baby.
  • Claudia wouldn't allow another woman to give birth to Alaric's child, especially Victoria.
  • It was lucky that she asked for Alaric's phone when she entered the office just now. Even though Alaric made a small frown, he still swiftly passed his phone to her.
  • If she hadn't asked for his phone, she couldn't imagine the consequences if Alaric had seen that message.
  • A few minutes later, Claudia passed the phone back to Alaric while saying softly, "Al, I'm done with the phone. Thank you."
  • He took the phone from her and nodded. "Okay."
  • Seeing his indifferent expression, Claudia couldn't help but ask as she recalled the message from Victoria, "Don't you usually hate it when others touch your phone? Why did you give it to me?"
  • Hearing this, he glanced at her helplessly. "Of course, you're different."
  • That was enough to satisfy Claudia as it felt like she was fed a spoonful of honey. That's right. I'm different.
  • Then, she scoffed inwardly. It didn't matter if Victoria was pregnant with Alaric's baby now; she would still ask Victoria to abort that child, who was not blessed.
  • As she was deep in thought, Alaric suddenly said. "Claudia, you saved me, so I'll fulfill any wish that you have."
  • The smile on Claudia’s face faded away at the mention of that, and she nodded. "Thank you, Al."
  • A brooding look flashed across her face as she looked down. She felt a little frustrated. He brought it up again. He's always talking about me saving him. If I hadn't saved him, would I have meant anything to him? Claudia felt slightly guilty as she thought of what had happened.
  • Although it had been years, that day felt like it had just happened yesterday:
  • She was frightened and frozen to the spot by the gushing river as she watched Alaric being swept away by the water while her head buzzed. When she came to her senses and wanted to go look for help, a petite figure dashed toward her without hesitation. Claudia even forgot to cry for help when that figure flashed past her. She could only stop instinctively to look as the girl dived into the river without hesitation.
  • Claudia still felt shocked whenever she recalled that scene, no matter how much time had passed. That girl was so brave that it made Claudia hate her for a long time.
  • "What's wrong?" Alaric asked as she seemed to be pondering.
  • Claudia regained her senses and shook her head with a faint smile. "It's nothing."
  • She shouldn't be thinking of the past. Now, the fact of the matter was that she was Alaric's savior. And that was all that mattered.
  • After staying in Alaric's office for a while more, Claudia decided to leave since he was busy with work and couldn't entertain her. "Al, I'll leave first since you're busy. I'll meet you another day."
  • Alaric didn't even lift his head. His eyes were glued to the monitor screen. "Okay."
  • Just as she was about to leave, he thought of something and looked up. "Wait."
  • "Yes?"
  • He stared at her. "If I heard it right, I think there was a message for me just now?"
  • Claudia was stunned. I didn't think he would ask about that…
  • "It's just some spam message. I didn't want to disturb you. So, I deleted it for you."
  • That earned her silence from Alaric, and she couldn't help but panic. "Are you angry because I deleted your message? I'm sorry, Al. I thought it was just a spam message and didn't think much of it. I should've let you handle it on your own. I'm sorry. Please don't be angry at me."
  • Her repeated apology soothed the frown on Alaric's face. What am I doing? Do I need to be angry at her just because she deleted a spam message?
  • However, Alaric was still a person of principle and replied in a deep voice, "I'm not angry. I just don't like people going through my phone."
  • Claudia nodded and looked down. "I know. I'm sorry."
  • The atmosphere between them suddenly tensed up. After a moment of silence, Alaric offered, "I'll have the driver send you home."
  • "Okay."
  • Soon, the driver came up to lead Claudia to the car. After she entered the lift, she couldn't resist and clenched her hanging hands.
  • On the surface, Alaric didn't seem to mind that she took his phone, but he had a huge reaction to her deleting his message. It seemed there wasn't an exception, even though she was his savior.
  • Claudia pursed her lips unwillingly. It seemed she needed to put more effort into winning Alaric's heart, or he wouldn't tolerate her just because she saved his life.
  • Luckily, she had already deleted that message. According to her understanding of Victoria, Victoria would probably be heartbroken to receive a response like that from Alaric. So, she wouldn't bring up the baby with Alaric again.
  • Yet, this wouldn't work in the long term, so Claudia had to move fast and make sure Victoria got an abortion quickly.
