Chapter 8 Have You No Shame
- Sebastian narrowed his eyes and leaned in, his prominent nose nearly touching Annabeth's. They could hear each other breathing.
- “But I could take your life at any moment now.” He lowered his voice, making it sound both dangerous and incredibly enticing.
- Annabeth remained calm and composed. Even though she was injured, her back was straight, much like someone who had undergone long-term training.
- “You could give it a shot.” Her voice held no fear, only a hint of eager anticipation.
- As their eyes met, there was no retreat or fear in her gaze.
- Sebastian straightened up, yet his towering figure still loomed over her.
- Annabeth felt inexplicably irritated and, with a hint of indifference in her voice, said, “I want to go.”
- “Can't you speak a bit more softly, woman?” Sebastian had barely finished his sentence when he seemed to realize he'd misspoken. He gave Annabeth's petite figure a once-over, his gaze lingering on her chest for a moment. A smirk played at the corners of his mouth. “Ah, my mistake, you can't quite be called a woman yet.”
- Annabeth frowned. That's how I usually speak. Speak softly? What does that even mean?
- When she noticed Sebastian's scrutinizing gaze, she could sense the contempt in his eyes. She responded earnestly, “I'm still growing. I will eventually mature.”
- Sebastian was rendered speechless.
- Upon seeing Sebastian's lips twitch a few times, Annabeth thought he didn't believe her.
- “Really,” she added.
- Sebastian wondered if he had just brought home an extraterrestrial being.
- “I need to go,” Annabeth stated, proceeding to remove the needle that was inserted in her arm.
- “You're leaving like this? Don't you want to live?” Sebastian's voice was cold and tinged with annoyance. “Do you even realize how badly you're hurt?”
- Annabeth's expression remained unchanged as she looked at Sebastian. Sensing no ill intent from him, she said, “I'm not going to die. I'm feeling much better. I must go.” The sooner she returned, the less trouble she would face down the line.
- Her gaze was so resolute that it even stirred some emotion in Sebastian.
- He tossed a piece of clothing next to Annabeth, his gaze sweeping over her body, which was almost entirely wrapped in bandages. “Can you change into it yourself?” he asked as if he was deliberately making things difficult for her.
- Annabeth fell silent for a moment, then said, “Of course.”
- Sebastian's lips curved slightly upward. “Get dressed, and I'll let you go. Otherwise, even if you manage to get through this door, you won't be able to leave this estate.”
- Annabeth fixed her gaze on Sebastian calmly.
- He was right. She could sense that beyond the estate, there were many people and unknown dangers. Even if she managed to leave the room, she wouldn't be able to escape the estate, let alone the house itself.
- Annabeth took another look at her clothes, which were torn and tattered from being cut open. Most of her body was covered in bandages and ointment.
- Without a word, she tore off her tattered clothes and tossed them onto the ground.
- A thin, pink bra was suddenly exposed to the open air.
- Sebastian froze on the spot momentarily, then turned around.
- “Hey! I'm a man, you know. Have you no shame?” he said through gritted teeth.
- He felt as though his twenty years of self-discipline and composure had been shattered by Annabeth. No ordinary girl would have done something like that.
- Wait, why did I turn around? I've seen plenty of women before. Women with stunning figures and revealing outfits throw themselves at me daily. Is there really a need to turn around just for a young girl like her?
- Annabeth paused and glanced down at her bra. In the past, during combat, she would change into her battle attire without embarrassment, but she always wore a thinner bulletproof undershirt underneath.
- At that moment, Sebastian turned around once more, his gaze landing on her pink bra.
- Annabeth lifted her head and met Sebastian's gaze. “Turn around!”
- Finally, Sebastian noticed a different emotion on Annabeth's face. A spark of interest flickered in his eyes. It was like discovering a new world.
- “No.”
- A faint blush subtly graced Annabeth's cheeks, but she quickly reined in her emotions.
- Sebastian's interest, evident in his eyes, intensified when he noticed that.
- Interesting.
- Annabeth bit her lower lip. She was skilled at reading the situation, and she knew she couldn't afford to confront the man before her right now.
- She had been given a second chance at life, and she couldn't afford to lose it so carelessly.
- Annabeth stared at Sebastian coldly, struggling to put on her clothes.
- The bandage on her arm made it quite difficult for her.
