Chapter 6 Taking Opportunity From Idleness
- ZACHARY
- I turned into a wolf and lunged at Erick, who was trying to kiss Cassandra. I knew something like this would happen. Unfortunately, Erick has good reflexes. My kick only hit the ends of his hair.
- I landed on the floor with all four feet, then turned back into a human. I'm still waiting and preparing for Erick to reply to me.
- Erick raised both hands as if giving up. He probably realized his mistake. And I turned to Cassandra, who was sleeping curled up on the sofa. She wasn't even wearing a blanket with very minimal clothing.
- "What's in your dirty mind, Erick? You intend to cross the line?"
- "I didn't do anything, Zach!" Erick tried to defend himself but looked pathetic in front of me.
- "You want to take advantage of her!" I replied sharply.
- I ignored Erick and passed him. I looked at Cassandra sleeping on the couch and checked her out.
- "You bastard, Erick! You even gave her alcohol? Do you think I don't know? By smelling the aroma, I know this is your favorite drink."
- Erick chuckled, and he just stood there doing nothing. He avoided it would be in vain because it is clear that all this results from his actions.
- "Zach, I can explain it to you!"
- I rejected Erick's hand as well as his explanation. "I don't like you touching me. Especially touching Cassandra. I won't let it. I won't let my guard down."
- I slipped my hands under Cassandra's neck and legs. I picked her up, who was fast asleep, and returned her to the room.
- Before leaving, I glanced at Erick.
- "Cassandra is stupid to let her guard down like that. Not that you can freely do anything to her. And you will never escape from my watch. It's enough what you've done to me in the past."
- "Oh, Zach. If you feel aggrieved by what I did at that time, why don't you just explain it to her?"
- I stopped. There was a feeling of heartache that suddenly popped up in my chest. Thinking back on that day's events makes me very uncomfortable.
- "Zach, you're just a coward! I knew you wouldn't be able to tell Cassandra the truth. So just leave Cassandra to me. I am more worthy to be with her."
- "You dreaming, Erick? Nothing is worth it with her. Neither me nor you. Because now we have become brothers. Don't cross the line!"
- I carried Cassandra back to her room and ignored Erick. I don't care what Erick thinks and plans at this point. I'm just not going to stand by and let him wreak havoc.
- "You are innocent, Cass. You are so innocent that you can't tell which people are good and who are pretending to be good."
- After I put Cassandra on the bed, I covered her body. I took a step back and folded my arms across my chest.
- "Next time, wear clothes that cover up, even at home. There's nothing you can trust here. Including me."
- “Um… Zach….”
- I was shocked. I thought Cassandra was asleep, but she responded to my words.
- I got closer and saw her sleeping face.
- "Are you delirious?"
- I watched her face as close as possible. She was completely asleep and breathing evenly. I breathed a sigh of relief.
- "I thought you were pretending to sleep."
- I got up, but Cassandra's hand suddenly moved. She grabbed my neck and pulled me into her arms.
- I'm not ready.
- I was dragged and fell headlong into her chest. I couldn't even breathe because she was hugging my head so tightly.
- "Cass–" my voice was swallowed up.
- I feel so awkward. My feet were still on the floor, but Cass held my head tight. I could feel the steady rhythm of her breathing and the soothing beat of her heart. I suddenly felt warmth spread from within her embrace to my whole body.
- "No! What am I doing? So what's the difference between me and Erick if I take advantage of Cassandra's negligence? I can't do this."
- Cassandra's embrace was strong enough on my neck. Very carefully and slowly, I released myself as much as possible.
- I didn't want Cassandra to wake up and see me in her room. That would be very embarrassing for me. Cass will think bad things about me.
- I managed to get out of Cass' arms with great struggle. Immediately I backed away as far as possible to keep my distance from her.
- "Tsk, she is a troublesome girl. Even in her sleep, she is still troublesome."
- I exhaled roughly and left Cassandra's room after turning off the lights.
- I barely slept all night. When I opened my eyes in the morning, it seemed too bright.
- "What time is it?"
- I frantically fumbled for my phone to check the time. The alarm didn't even ring at all.
- With sleepy and sore eyes, I checked the clock on the nightstand.
- "That's bad! I'm late."
- I do everything in haste, including bathing and changing clothes. When I left the room, the house was quiet. There were only maids greeting me that morning.
- "Good morning, Alpha Zachary. Would you like some breakfast?"
- "No time for that!" I grumbled. "Where are the others?"
- "Alpha Erick left early in the morning. And Miss Cassandra was just brought to school by the driver."
- I'm getting annoyed. "Why didn't anyone wake me up?"
- "Sorry, Alpha," said the maids in unison, bowing slightly.
- A gamma approached me. "We've been trying to wake you up; Alpha Erick said you probably didn't want to be disturbed and asked us to let you sleep a bit longer today."
- "Erick!" I hissed as I clenched my fists as tightly as I could. "He must pay for what he did this time."
- I grabbed the car keys from Gama's hand and rushed to the garage.
- "Wait, Alpha!"
- "What else could you want, Alfred? I'm too late."
- Alfred is a Gama who works for my father. He became the butler in this house.
- "Alpha Davies called this morning from their honeymoon. He left a message for you."
- "Say in five seconds. I don't have much time."
- "What should you do to Blue Rock Academy? Alpha Davies has everything ready for you."
- I stopped right then and there. I could feel Alfred almost bumped into me from behind.
- I turned around and glared at Alfred. "What do you say? Blue Rock Academy? Why do I have to go back there? Didn't I tell Dad that I wasn't going there? I have already chosen the school I want to go to!"
- Alfred shook his head firmly. "I'm just relaying orders from Alpha Davies. And I thought you had no choice. Without approval from Alpha Davies, you won't be able to go to any academy."
- I kicked the car door hard because I was so annoyed.
- "This isn't like the deal we agreed to!"
- Before Dad dragged me back to Everna, he said I could choose which academy I wanted to attend.
- "Why, suddenly, he changed his mind and forced me to go to Blue Rock Academy? I even applied to the Silver Crystal Academy and received well there."
- "You'd better hurry off to Blue Rock Academy, Alpha Zach. You know the consequences if you refuse."
