Chapter 7 Revelation

  • Stella’s claim that Isabella had forgiven them was nonsense. The reason? Isabella had no idea about their affair at all.
  • Why did she say that though? Just because she wanted Jonas to hate me? If that were true, then the identity of the real culprit who set that video up would be obvious.
  • But she isn’t that stupid. There are a million ways to reveal this to me, so why this? The outcome would harm her reputation, so that tradeoff wasn’t worth it for Stella.
  • Then what could be the reason? Hmm, but it does make me seem like the culprit. Nobody’s going to think Stella would do this to herself.
  • Meanwhile, Jonas had stood on Stella’s side the entire time. He did not admit to his cheating, nor did he apologize.
  • On the contrary, he kept emphasizing that she shouldn’t mistreat her because Stella was her friend.
  • Jonas, since I’ve given you away to her, am I considered a good friend now? Why do you take everything I do for granted?
  • Isabella’s heart throbbed again when she remembered how concerned Jonas looked when Stella was in pain. He had never looked at Isabella like that before.
  • I think he doesn’t feel that way for me.
  • What Luciana said reminded her of something. Over the years, Luciana had always been kind to her. Isabella thought her kindness was genuine, and she planned to reciprocate it after she was married. To her surprise, Luciana revealed that she only liked Isabella for her status and inheritance.
  • This is probably my second sin.
  • She had 40% of Sera Entertainment’s shares, making her the biggest shareholder. Due to her age, all the profits were allocated to a fund her late grandfather left for her. That fund could only be used after she reached the age of twenty-five.
  • The age of twenty-five signified a turning point in her life. After that, she would receive the inheritance her grandfather and mother had left for her.
  • It wasn’t until today that she knew why the Westwoods were so eager to marry Jonas to her. In truth, they didn’t like her or pitied her for losing her mother when she was a child. And it wasn’t even because of the so-called friendship they had with her grandfather and mother. All they wanted was her inheritance, which was why they were nice to her. It was also precisely for this reason that others were unkind to her.
  • José had always been bothered by her possessing all those wealth, for his beloved daughter, Yvonne, didn’t have the same privilege. When Isabella was eighteen, José thought she had come of age, so legally, she should be able to control the inheritance. He had asked her to write a statement that said she would willingly give half of her inheritance to Yvonne. However, the lawyer and the company’s four biggest shareholders were alerted to this when they were signing the contract.
  • Isabella’s grandfather and mother knew someone would try to snatch the inheritance from her, so they set the eligible age as twenty-five. Thanks to that, the eighteen-year-old Isabella had no right to use this wealth yet.
  • Back then, José married into the Sera family, so he and Lillian Sera’s children had to take after their mother’s last name instead of his. However, if José had any children outside of his marriage with Lillian, they were prohibited from using Sera as their last name.
  • Due to that rule, Isabella was the only young miss and heir to the Sera family. On top of that, if José were to transfer his shares to Yvonne instead of Isabella, the four major shareholders would pull out all their investments in Sera Entertainment. In their minds, Sera Entertainment only belonged to the Sera family and nobody else.
  • José only had 30% of shares in the company, so if the four biggest shareholders were to withdraw their investments, Sera Entertainment would cease to exist. After messing around for a while, José and his family gave up.
  • Instead of showing kindness to Isabella, their hatred for her deepened since then. In a way, Isabella admired their unrelenting spirit.
  • There was another way to get their hands on her inheritance—marrying her off to Jonas Westwood. In this case, her inheritance would be her dowry. With how much love she had for Jonas, Isabella would undoubtedly share her wealth with the Westwoods. That was the reason José worked with the Westwoods in various investment projects over the years. This was all for the day where he could reap the rewards.
  • “Grandpa, Mom, twenty-five isn’t a safe age either. If I’m truly an idiot, then even when I’m twenty-five, I’ll only become an idiot of a grown-up,” Isabella mumbled to herself.
  • Despite her circumstances, Isabella counted her blessings. At least Jonas met his true love, so she didn’t end up getting engaged to him. Otherwise, both of them would spend the rest of their lives in misery.
  • Life works in mysterious ways indeed.
  • Isabella sat up and fanned herself with a book.
  • She was going to draft a contract now. If Saber was smart enough, he would agree to her terms without hesitation.
  • Isabella had to get out of here as soon as possible. Her patience was running thin, so she didn’t want to play mind games with Amanda and Yvonne anymore.
  • They would never allow Isabella to rent a place on her own as they were afraid that she would be out of their reach and thus, beyond their control.
  • Moreover, this would deal a blow to the Sera family’s reputation. The only way to circumvent all this was to marry herself off.
  • Isabella didn’t care who the guy was, as long as he was upright. She would draft an agreement to protect her own rights and safety. At the same time, she would promise him his reward. After all, he did save her from a pinch.
  • Isabella needed a place to settle down and start earning money. Her goal was to make a million in a year. This would be her funds to study in the United Kingdom. It wasn’t much, but she could cover the remaining expenses by working while she studied. It wouldn’t be a problem.
  • It was time for Isabella to change her plans for the future. Since she would be alone from now on, Isabella vowed to guard her heart properly as she didn’t want to get hurt anymore.
  • The next morning, José brought Yvonne to RS International.
  • Yvonne was exhilarated to be standing outside the RS International building, located in the city’s central area. The RS International building looked grand and solemn. As it was working hours now, the employees were running across the plaza with a hurried look on their faces. However, they exuded a vibe full of confidence and pride, which contrasted with the employees of other companies.
  • Yvonne beamed when she thought about how these people would be calling her Mrs. Moore in the future. If her dream became a reality, she would also have the freedom to do anything she wanted here.
  • Saber took the documents Johnson had given him and signed them. At the same time, he said, “Tell Stanley to get me a house near Maxglobe University. It doesn’t have to be big. A hundred square meters or so will do. Make sure it’s a house for two, and prepare all the necessities.”
  • Johnson replied, “Yes, sir.” Since Saber was still reading the contracts, he called Stanley with the landline.
  • Stanley came in a few moments later. “Boss, will Sunny Condominium beside the university work? It’s ten minutes away from the campus. The neighborhood’s great, and there are plenty of facilities.”
  • Saber tilted his head and gave it a thought, but he couldn’t recall anything about this condominium. “Sure. Purchase one unit if you think it’s suitable.”
  • Stanley smiled. “Boss, that’s our own property. You asked me to save a unit on the 28th floor. I was confused why you didn’t ask me anything regarding that. It seems that you have actually forgotten about it.”
  • Johnson glared at him. “Then get going and stop spewing nonsense here!”
  • Seeing that Saber was looking at him quietly, Stanley stuck his tongue out at them and skedaddled. But a moment later, he turned around. “Boss, will you be staying alone? Or is Mr. Lunar going to move in with you?”
  • Saber didn’t even look up. “I’ll be moving in with my wife.”
