Chapter 1 Betrayal
- The large LED screen showed a man and a woman fooling around, naked. At the same time, the woman’s seductive moans of pleasure echoed through the surround sound system.
- The couple in the video were doing the cowgirl position. From her naked back, everyone could see the woman’s perfect figure. She had a fair complexion and flawless skin.
- The man started holding the woman’s soft breasts, and she moaned. Then he flipped over and pinned her against the bed. Instantly, their faces showed up on the screen.
- Isabella looked at the screen in horror, and she felt her heart getting torn asunder. The reason? The man in the video was her fiancé, Jonas, while the woman was her best friend, Stella. To make things worse, both of them were standing beside her right now.
- Today was the engagement ceremony for Isabella and Jonas.
- As the emcee narrated their love story, a slideshow showcasing their childhood photos started playing. It began with Isabella’s pictures when she was three and Jonas’ when he was seven. Before they could even get to Isabella’s ten-year-old photos, the video popped up abruptly on the screen.
- “Ah!!” someone screamed, and Stella suddenly pounced at Jonas’ arms, who wasn’t far away from her.
- If there were doubts about the identity of the couple in the video earlier, it was reduced into atoms by now. What more was there to say? Isabella stood rooted to the ground, but Jonas was already hugging someone else.
- Immediately, the guests broke into discussion.
- “What the hell? Isn’t that woman Isabella’s best friend?”
- “Yeah, did Ms. Sera get cheated on?”
- “Oh, she has a great figure. And her tits look great too.”
- “What the hell is this?” Isabella’s father, José, roared and went up to stand in front of the LED screen in an attempt to block it. However, it was more than three meters tall, and he was just a little more than five foot seven, so trying to block it was futile.
- The face of Jonas’ father, Timotheus, had turned maroon, but he reacted quicker than José. He dashed to the studio behind the screen and switched off the LED screen.
- Stella sobbed and looked at Isabella sadly. “I thought you wouldn’t dwell on this matter anymore, Isabella. I promised I would leave this city after you two get engaged. Why? Why must you let everyone know about this? D-Do you really want to see me dead?”
- Jonas felt awkward about Stella pouncing at him, but what she said shocked him. He held her up. “What did you say, Stella? Isabella forced you to leave? She wants you dead?”
- The sound of something crashing boomed around Isabella as she looked at Jonas in a daze. Since before they were born, their parents had already decided on their engagement. From the moment she could walk, Isabella knew she would spend her life with Jonas.
- When did he get together with Stella? And when did I say I wouldn’t dwell on this? What is happening? And what are they talking about?
- “How could you do this to your fiancé and best friend, Isabella? You’re evil!” Jonas’ sister, Julia, shoved Isabella’s shoulder.
- Isabella was caught off guard, so she staggered backward and stopped beside José.
- José was looking furious now. He raised his hand to give her a slap. “Look what you’ve done, you piece of trash! You brought shame to our families!”
- Isabella hadn’t even managed to steady her footing when she was slapped. Upon witnessing that, Jonas panicked and wanted to help her, but Stella held his arm tightly. When Isabella looked up, she noticed the smug look in Stella’s eyes.
- “Shaw, you shouldn’t have slapped her. Here, Isabella.” Someone picked her up. It turned out to be Timotheus, and he sighed. “Don’t blame your father, Isabella. You went a bit far this time.”
- On the other hand, Jonas’ mother, Luciana, pointed at Stella. “You bi*ch. I know exactly what happened. You seduced Jonas, didn’t you? Scram now! I will never allow you to marry into our family.”
- Stella hid behind Jonas, frightened while he defended her, “Don’t blame Stella, Mom. Isabella, Stella’s your best friend. You shouldn’t force her to a cliff.”
- Isabella finally stood back up with Timotheus’s help. A drop of tear rolled down her face as she looked up at Jonas. She had loved him all her life, but now Isabella felt that she didn’t even know him.
- Yeah, Stella’s my best friend. He knows it, yet both of them chose to betray me. And now they’re pointing fingers at me?
- “I can’t believe you’re such a cunning woman, Isabella. Jonas! You can’t get engaged to her! She might kill you in your sleep or worse! This one’s evil!” Julia glared at Isabella and told Jonas.
- Julia and Isabella went to the same high school, and she had hated Isabella since they were kids. She would often band together with Isabella’s stepsister, Yvonne, to kick Isabella down. And she was bothered by the fact that Isabella would be her future sister-in-law.
- “Shut up! Isabella’s the young miss of the Sera family. What about that bi*ch? Does she have Isabella’s background? Our family will never allow a woman with no background to marry into us!” Luciana quickly stopped her daughter, but she forgot to keep her voice low.
- Luciana didn’t like Isabella much, but she was interested in her family’s power and wealth. Having Isabella marry her son could help him work up the ladder of life. No matter how she looked at it, no one in the upper-class society was a better candidate than Isabella. The most important thing was that even though Isabella was a rich kid, she was a naïve person who was easy to control.
- Because of that, she stood her ground and would not allow her family to lose the chance of having Isabella as a part of them.
- Isabella was about to thank Luciana for standing on her side, but she now knew the reason for that. This is disheartening.
- “Yeah, Isabella. As the young miss of the Sera family, how could you do this? You should have considered the reputation of our families.” Yvonne put on a disappointed look.
- “Isabella, how could you do this to your father? You have really disappointed him,” Isabella’s stepmother, Amanda, said with a tint of sorrow in her tone.
- Upon hearing what Yvonne and Amanda had said, the faces of José and Timotheus darkened even more. Isabella’s too rash! How could she air the dirty laundry in front of everyone?
