Chapter 9 Divorce Agreement
- “Why did you come to this floor, didn't I ask you to help take care of Gu Xinlu?”
- Xiang Lixuan found Ling Yao standing at the lift door, with a cold countenance, “What's gotten into you? Your face doesn't look right.”
- Ling Yao’s eyes were dim and thoughtful, when he replied, “I bumped into Li Xinyu.”
- Before Xiang Lixuan got to ask about all the details, Gu Xinlu appeared crying as she ran towards him. Clinging to his arm with dear life, she said, “Lixuan, why did you toss me aside? I’m your fiancée, but you left me in that store along, do you know how awkward it became?”
- “This crying and crying is getting on my nerves,” Xiang Lixan complained, pulling his arm out from her grip.
- Gu Xinlu’s crying grew worse, “You don’t care about me.”
- Xiang Lixuan furrowed his brows and said, “When did I say I care about you?”
- Gu Xinlu was disbelieving and threatened in a coquettish way, “Since you don’t care about me, why are we getting engaged? If you’re going to treat me like, then this engagement party should be…”
- “Then let’s call it off.”
- “What did you say?”
- “I said, let’s call the engagement party off,” Xiang Lixuan smiled and said this tenderly, but the words he uttered sounded harsh and cold. “I want to marry a wife, who is dependable and willing to stay at home, I don’t want end up feeling like I married my own mother and have to wait on her.”
- Gu Xinlu stared incredulously at Xiang Lixuan, and realized that he was not joking, it hurt her pride immensely, so she ran off crying.
- “Damn it, why is it so hard to find a woman to marry?” asked Xiang Lixuan, envious of the luck Ling Yao had. “I mean it when I say this, the one you have at home is pretty good. Except for the scheming she does, like drugging you that one time, I think there is nothing else to pick on. She is a beauty, she’s quiet and doesn’t give you trouble.” But Ling Yao kept a severe face on and did not make any comments.
- Moments later, Ling Yao slowly said, “Xiang Lixuan, I think I got fooled by her again.”
- “Who fooled you?”
- “Li Xinyu,” it took a bit to squeeze the name out through his teeth.
- In hindsight, Xiang Lixuan asked, “Didn’t you say just now, that you bumped into Li Xinyu?”
- Ling Yao spoke heavily, “Yes, but it’s not just that, on the night of the banquet, that woman in my room, it was her too.”
- Xiang Lixuan paused, “How could you bloody not know what your wife looks like?”
- “I only saw her once 3 years ago, and she drugged me, alright? Why would I want to remember her?”
- “So, you mean after the marriage, you never once took interest in your own wife?” Xiang Lixuan asked, believing that every woman was worthy of his “deep” attention and experimentation.
- “Well that’s…”
- “Li Xinyu said she wanted a divorce,” Ling Yao lips curled, his eyes froze over. “She can dream on.”
- “Didn’t you want to do it?” Xiang Lixuan was starting to feel as if he was unable to put a finger on Ling Yao’s mind.
- “She wanted to marry and we married. Now if she gets the divorce because she wants that, won’t that make things too easy for her?” he gazed. She was still his wife, and she should at least fulfil her spousal duties before they came to the matter of divorce.
- He was still incredibly interested in her body.
- ……
- Back at Jiang Ranran’s condominium, Li Xinyu’s head was throbbing hard and she rubbed her temples, feeling closer to desperation.
- That Ling Yao was not going let her off so easy.
- Even Jiang Ranran, who was usually talkative, had the perception to stay silent and did not dare speak, afraid that it would hurt Li Xinyu.
- Li Xinyu heaved a sigh. Since it was right in front of her, she picked up the unopened document envelope on the table.
- She opened it and it revealed two big words, “Divorce Agreement”.
- Jiang Ranran could no longer stay mum, “Ling Yao wants a divorce?”
- “So he wanted a divorce too,” Li Xinyu muttered, suddenly feeling like that was a way out.
