Chapter 13 You Want a Divorce?
- “Bang.” Li Xinyu’s heart blew up in a jumble, but she strove to act as if nothing had happened.
- Ask him to come along?
- Is that some kind of joke?
- In the past three years, we have met a total of three times. Also, being a shell husband and wife, who also have a freshly signed copy of divorce papers, we are never intimate.
- She struggled, pulled her hand out, gritted her teeth and said, “Is this some of prank? Because we don’t know each other well.”
- Immediately, Li Xinyu realized she shouldn’t have said that.
- She planned to bring the divorce agreement home to inform her family, and use Ling Yao as her excuse. However, Ling Yao had been acting like he was in love with her. From the looks of how things had unfolded, she was bound to be the whipping boy this time.
- Just as she expected, after hearing what she said, her family members started looking at her strangely.
- Then Ling Yao jumped in, smiled and asked, “Are you angry?”
- Lin Xinyu was dumbfounded. All she stated was the truth, so what was there to be angry about?
- Until she detected the change in Li Qitian’s expression, who was glowering at her with severe disapproval, did it dawn on her that Ling Yao had sabotaged her again.
- He was acting as if all the altercations in this marriage happened simply because she was not accommodating.
- Li Xinyu could not contain herself. She indignantly prodded her utensils and retorted, “We won’t be married for or long.” Whatever it was, both of them had signed on the divorce agreement.
- Ling Yao gazed at her and calmly asked, “Did you want to get a divorce?” He sounded like he had no inkling of what was going on.
- Li Xinyu spotted a note of chilly sarcasm at the bottom of his eyes, which was all deliberate, and it made Li Qitian's face looked far worse.
- There was no way she could stomach her dinner now. Quietly putting down her chopsticks, she said, “I’ve had my fill and I’m going back to my room now.”
- She was afraid that if this went on, Ling Yao would drive her crazy.
- Her luggage was still in the corner, so she lifted her white suitcase and tediously carried it upstairs.
- After lifting it up, a hand reached out from behind and pressed it back to the ground.
- A strong male torso was pressing against her back. With a kind look, Ling Yao said, “I’ll help you with that.”
- Li Xinyu paused, while she thought quickly and then tactfully replied, “Thanks, but it’s fine, I can manage.”
- Ignoring her objections, he continued to carry her suitcase and went upstairs.
- All of a sudden, he stopped, turned around to hold her hand and faintly asked, “Which room is it?”
- Li Xinyu irascibly scratched her hair and said, “To the right!”
- Yuan Yu was confused. Weren’t they going to get divorced?
- But they seemed to be a sweet couple!
- Yuan Yu heaved a sigh, gazed at husband and asked, “Qitian, is Xinyu playing some kind of joke on us? Maybe they didn’t plan on getting a divorce.”
- “It’s Young Master Ling who is pranking us,” said Li Qitian. He saw through everything already. After steeping in the market for these years, he was quite perceptive but he pretended that he did not know anything, “Xinyu can’t get a divorce, no matter what the reason is.” Yuan Yu sighed and replied, “But Xinyu’s a good kid and she didn’t want this marriage to begin with. She spent 3 years studying overseas, now that she’s back, perhaps she just needs time to adjust and get used to living with the Lings."
- Li Qitian cold replied, “Doesn’t matter how she feels, she just has to get used to it.” If the Lis were to continue to survive, it was imperative they kept the Lings' support.
- Li Yazhi did not understand what they meant; all she knew was what a looker her brother-in-law was.
