Chapter 4 I Don't Have a Criminal Father

  • As countless people turned their heads around and saw a military vehicle speed into view, it slowly halted in front of the crowd.
  • Wearing military boots and a dark green coat, Lucian leapt down from the vehicle. His resolute features radiated an aura of authority, and his cold gaze was as intimidating as that of a prehistoric beast, making the atmosphere around him heavy and oppressive.
  • "Lucian! Lucian Gray!"
  • Freya, who was lying on the ground, was filled with shock as she saw Lucian, who had been missing for seven years. She could hardly believe that, after all this time, he had finally returned.
  • Why was he coming back now?
  • Tears streamed down Freya's face as she lay on the ground; the look in his eyes was devoid of any hope. She lay on the ground like a lifeless body.
  • Minnie, lying on top of Freya, sensed something was wrong. She looked up at Lucian. When she saw that man, her body trembled violently. The familiarity in his stern expression stirred a torrent of anger and coldness in her clear eyes.
  • She knew this man was her father, who had been missing for seven years.
  • No, she didn't have a father.
  • She was a fatherless child, and everyone knew it.
  • "Who ... who are you?" Viper stammered in terror.
  • Though he considered himself the toughest on the street, Viper was utterly intimidated by the array of guns pointed at him.
  • Lucian's attention was on the mother and daughter lying on the ground.
  • He ignored Viper. Lucian felt his heart wrench with pain, as if he were about to explode. The little girl's clear eyes were filled with hatred, and the intensity of it made his body tremble with guilt. For such a young child to harbour such deep resentment was unimaginable.
  • Initially, Lucian was filled with rage; he was determined to avenge his wife and daughter. When he saw the overwhelming hatred in Minnie's eyes and the cold indifference in Freya's, Lucian found himself immobilised and grappling with words. The sharp, commanding presence of the War God vanished entirely.
  • At this moment, he was no longer a War God but merely an irresponsible husband and father.
  • "How dare you bully my daughter?"
  • Lucian glared at Viper and asked a question with gritted teeth. He then pointed his Glock at Viper's head.
  • "Misunderstanding! It's a misunderstanding! It has nothing to do with me! I just follow an order!" Viper was clutching his broken leg and trembling in fear. He thought he was just bullying two helpless individuals and didn't expect to provoke the devil.
  • "Lucian!" Freya called out instinctively and interrupted Lucian's murderous intent.
  • "Speak! Who ordered you?" Lucian didn't lower his gun; he continued to keep the barrel aimed at Viper's forehead.
  • Cold sweat dripped from Viper's forehead. He knew that without a satisfactory answer, his life was over. He hurriedly pointed at Calvin and said, "It's him! Calvin told me to capture them and sell the little girl's organs!"
  • Viper didn't hold back, spilling everything in one breath. For lowlife thugs like him, principles and loyalty meant nothing. To save his own skin, he would sell out his own family, let alone a client.
  • Freya was completely stunned by Viper's words.
  • She couldn't believe that, even after all this, Calvin was still determined to destroy her.
  • He even went as far as harming Minnie's life.
  • "Calvin! You deserve to die!"
  • Lucian glared ferociously at Calvin. His eyes were filled with the fury of a predator, ready to tear him apart.
  • "Hahaha!"
  • Calvin crossed his arms over his chest and didn't bother with the soldiers. Instead, he glanced down at Minnie with a sneer, laughing loudly. "She's just a little brat, destined for nothing but her organs. It would be perfect to make some contributions to the Harrisons. Lucian, I don't know how you got these soldiers, but beware. If you dare to touch me, not only will your wife and daughter suffer, but I will torment your half-dead mother to death!"
  • "I will kill you!"
  • After a long silence, Lucian erupted like a beast that had been unleashed from his cage. His roar was filled with heart-wrenching fury.
  • At the same time, tears streamed down his face.
  • He raised the gun in his hand, aiming it at Calvin's forehead. Lucian was ready to pull the trigger.
  • "Lucian! Stop!"
  • Freya screamed desperately, "Are you going to kill in front of Minnie? Do you want to go back to prison?!"
  • Lucian's finger froze on the trigger at Freya's words.
  • He couldn't kill someone in front of Minnie.
  • "Hahahahaha!"
  • Calvin was initially frightened, but he burst into laughter at this point. As expected, Lucian wouldn't dare kill him!
  • His gun was just for show!
  • But the next moment,
  • Lucian's fist slammed into Calvin's chest.
  • Calvin's body flew backwards like a kite with a broken string, landing heavily on the ground. With a loud cry, blood spurted from his mouth. Lucian then rushed forward, raising his iron fist and relentlessly pummeling Calvin's body.
  • One punch!
  • Two punches!
  • Three punches!
  • Lucian beat Calvin so severely that he was left crying and begging for mercy on the ground. However, Lucian was like a cold-hearted beast; no matter how much Calvin pleaded, he did not stop. Finally, after knocking Calvin unconscious, Lucian slowly ceased his actions.
  • "Freya! Minnie!"
  • Lucian's fists were covered in blood. As he breathed heavily, he looked at the mother and daughter from a distance.
  • When Lucian met his daughter's eyes, which were filled with overwhelming hatred, his entire body jolted. His expression was one of regret. For a moment, Lucian was completely at a loss and unsure of what to do next.
  • "Minnie, let's go!"
  • Freya didn't want to see Lucian, so she spoke to Minnie.
  • "Okay." Minnie nodded heavily. Then, the little girl used all her strength to help Freya into the wheelchair.
  • When Lucian saw this scene, he rushed over to lift Freya into the wheelchair. As he looked at Freya's muddy face with a blank expression, his heart ached, and tears streamed down uncontrollably.
  • "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!
  • "Freya, I'm sorry. You two have suffered all these years!"
  • Lucian cried out. Liam quickly took out a tissue from his pocket.
  • "Let me wipe it off for you! Let me wipe it off."
  • Lucian gently wiped Freya's face with a tissue, his heart aching as if a thousand daggers were piercing it. He could never have imagined that the once high and mighty President Harrison had become like this—completely paralysed, confined to a wheelchair, a shadow of her former self.
  • Freya remained indifferent. She let Lucian wipe the mud off her face without giving any response.
  • Only when a woman's heart had completely turned cold would she show such a reaction.
  • "Don't touch my mom!"
  • Minnie shouted angrily and pushed Lucian's chest with all her might.
  • Lucian didn't resist falling into the mud. He looked at his daughter, who had pushed him down, his eyes red with tears. Then he fumbled to pick up the gifts he had brought. In a trembling voice, he offered, "Pumpkin, let me wipe your face too. There's mud on it."
  • "You're not my dad. I don't have a criminal as my father!"
