Chapter 3 Bounty Hunter
- Felix was only an ordinary person, but Zachary had been through war and survived the gunfire and smoke. He was an elite soldier, and at least eight hundred to a thousand of his subordinates had lost their lives in those countless battles.
- At that moment, Zachary was angered. There was a murderous and bloodthirsty aura around him.
- Cecilia was only a five-year-old child, and she had never witnessed such a scene. She watched as the innocent-looking young man easily crush a five-centimeter thick ashtray while exuding a terrifying aura. Cecilia instantly pouted and started crying from shock.
- “Felix, I'm telling Mom that you hit me.” She rubbed her eyes with her fair and chubby hands as tears dripped down her face.
- “Brat.” Zachary laughed and got up, leaving the study.
- He immediately opened the door to leave the house but caught sight of the purse Natalie left on the dining table and took it with him.
- Half an hour later, Zachary returned with two servings of fragrant fried chicken. Cecilia was no longer crying and was secretly watching cartoons at home.
- She was surprised when Zachary came back suddenly. Her big eyes welled up with tears when she recalled his cold gaze and terrifying manner.
- “Eat some,” said Zachary as he placed two servings of fried chicken in front of her.
- “Wow, it's fried chicken!” Cecilia's mouth instantly watered. However, after a moment of thought, she meekly looked at Zachary.
- “Why aren't you eating?” asked Zachary with a laugh.
- “Mom said that fried chicken is junk food, and she doesn't allow me to eat them...” replied Cecilia after careful thought.
- “Hah. I'm your Dad. I'm the one in charge of the entire household. Ignore her. I have the final say at home. Eat it,” he said.
- “B-But...” Cecilia looked toward the cartoon playing on the television with reluctance.
- She was greedy. Cecilia wanted to eat the fragrant fried chicken but wanted to watch the exciting cartoon at the same time.
- “Watch while you eat if you like,” said Zachary.
- “Yay!” cheered Cecilia, and she went to watch cartoons while she happily ate the fried chicken.
- She finished the two servings of fried chicken on her own as Zachary sat beside her silently, appearing deep in thought. He was a man of his words. Since he took advantage of Natalie and promised her that he would stay, that was what he would do. However, he would get his revenge. The powers that cornered him would pay an eye for an eye.
- It was late at night, and Cecilia slept soundly beside Zachary. He gently carried her to her room and placed her on the bed, delicately covering her with a blanket.
- Back in the study, he took a ballpoint pen and scribbled it on a piece of paper, planning his revenge plan.
- The next day, Zachary was asleep when he felt something lightly pushing him.
- It was Cecilia. The little girl's face was flushed, and she pushed him while anxiously saying, “Felix, I'm late for kindergarten. Why didn't you wake me up? It's over for me. I'm going to be lectured by my teacher...”
- Her voice was child-like, and she might be five years old, but she was brilliant. It was as if she was older than her age.
- “You're just late. It's not a big deal. I'll inform your teacher. Don't worry.” Zachary calmly got out of bed and freshened up in the washroom before taking Cecilia out.
- He took a look in Natalie's room before leaving. Natalie did not return home the entire night and was probably busy in the police station.
- Zachary only sent Cecilia to the kindergarten after taking her out for breakfast. The teachers at the kindergarten appeared to be familiar with Zachary, thinking he was Felix. Hence, they were unfriendly to him and looked at Cecilia with an irritable expression.
- “I'll leave Cecilia in your care.” Zachary stuffed a stack of cash into the teacher's pockets.
- “Felix, what are you doing? No, no. I can't take this money...” replied the teacher with a different expression.
- “Take it. Don't let anyone see it. It's not good.” Zachary covered the teacher's pockets with his big hands.
- “I really can't...” The teacher laughed helplessly but was delighted.
- Zachary did not say anything. He smiled at the teacher and left. He had something to do urgently and temporarily did not have time to deal with Cecilia's matters. Or else, he would only need a day to ensure that the kindergarten teachers would treat Cecilia better than their own children with his methods.
- The thing that he needed to do was to earn money.
- Zachary was angry as his passport and bank cards were thrown away by Natalie. He was one of the Top Four Elite Warriors and had thirty thousand mercenaries under him. His card had more than ten billion in them. However, it was his wife who threw his bank cards away. He decided to forgive her as he had touched her body.
- Money was just an external factor. Zachary might expose his identity if he had the card and used it to withdraw money from the bank. His subordinates were all gone, and he was severely hurt. Zachary would not be a match if his enemies were to go after him, so losing the bank card might be a good thing.
- He consoled himself, flagged a taxi, and headed for the local police station.
- “What? You want the list of the fugitives from the past ten years?” A young man pushed up the glasses on the bridge of his nose and looked at Zachary in shock.
- Zachary had a height of a hundred and eighty centimeters. He had a slim figure and a handsome face that was slightly pale.
- He would have passed as a ruthless man with his height. However, his figure did not.
- Zachary dared to ask the police station for the list of fugitives from the past ten years. Moreover, he wanted those that had a bounty on them. Fugitives were all dangerous, especially those that had a bounty out for them. Almost every fugitive had blood on their hands, and some were armed. How could Zachary find and catch them when the police were unable to?
- Very soon, a group of police officers gathered around, and they all felt that Zachary was joking. A few gamblers that were just arrested were watching Zachary in amusement. They revealed their yellow teeth and said, “This kid has probably gone mad hoping for money.”
- “Give me the list of the details on the fugitives from the past ten years. Within three days, I'll hand them all over to you,” Zachary said calmly to the police officer in front of him as he lit a cigarette.
- “Comrade, it's good that you have justice in your heart, but stop joking with us. How are you going to catch the fugitives from the past ten years? Some of them have already escaped the country and are probably scattered all over the world. No one knows where they are or if they are even alive. Moreover, even if you're lucky enough to encounter one or two of them, your physique is not a match for them. Stop fooling around. We have never given up on pursuing these fugitives. You leave them to us. As for you, you should go a look for a job.” The police officer waved helplessly and gestured for Zachary to leave.
- “I'm not fooling around. I never do that,” said Zachary with a serious expression.
- “Pfft!” A pretty female police officer could not help but laugh.
- She did not know why she felt like laughing when she saw Zachary's serious expression.
- “He's a bounty hunter.” Suddenly, a pleasant voice was heard.
- “What? A bounty hunter?” Everyone instantly turned to look in the direction of the voice.
- They saw a pretty female police officer walking in from outside. Her expression was cold, and she smiled faintly, saying, “There are two types of people in this world, and they have one thing in common. That is, they take money to solve problems. However, one type is responsible for the killing while another is responsible for catching people. One type is called murderers, and the other is called bounty hunters. Am I right, bounty hunter?” The beauty's gaze was cold, and she smiled at Zachary.
- Her name was Bethany Winston. She was Natalie's colleague and also her best friend.
- “Being a bounty hunter is one part of my work.” Zachary looked at her with interest in his eyes.
- “Here is the list of fugitives from the past ten years and their details. I trust you.” Bethany held a stack of documents in her hands.
- “Okay.” Zachary extended his arm to take it from her.
- “But what if you don't catch them within three days?” Bethany moved her hand away all of a sudden, not letting Zachary take the documents from her.
- “What do you say?” Zachary laughed.
- “Then it counts that you're fooling us, and you need to clean the police station for a month. However, we won't take advantage of you. I'll pay you a salary for your cleaning services for a month,” replied Bethany.
- “What if I manage to catch them?” he asked with a smile.
- “I'll leave it to you!” Bethany's eyes shone.
- “Okay.” Zachary took the information and left the police station.
- “Natalie, something interesting happened in the police station today,” said Bethany into the phone as she stood in front of the window, watching Zachary's back.
- “What happened?” Natalie had just finished showering and was lying in bed in exhaustion.
- “There's a good-looking lunatic who asked for the police station's information on the fugitives from the past ten years. He said he would bring all fugitives back within three days. Moreover, he's only after the A-class fugitives,” said Bethany.
- “Oh? What's his name?” asked Natalie with interest.
- “His surname is Larson. I think he's called Zachary...”
