Chapter 7
- We were having a normal class today, which meant I didn't need to train, and I was glad about it. I really didn't want to embarrass myself in front of other wolves and show that I was a weak person.
- I strolled down the hallway in the big mansion to where my class would be, but the thought of us all having the same class together made my tummy churn.
- I didn't want to be in the same class as Asher because whenever I saw him together with Tala, it made my wolf unable to breathe, and I could sometimes feel a sharp sting in my heart.
- I wasn't over the rejection yet. In fact, no wolf would get over a rejection that easily. Then, he used to be my boyfriend, but now he's my sister's, and it made me hurt more.
- On reaching the door to our new classroom, I heaved a deep breath, trying to contain as much oxygen as I could so I wouldn't suffocate myself to death when I got to see Tala and Asher together.
- "What the fuck are you doing?" Ariel's voice rang behind me, and it seemed like she had been behind me all this time, but I didn't notice.
- I didn't even smell her presence; unlike when she still carried the aura of an Alpha's daughter, now she had the same aura as a mere wolf; less intimidating.
- "Trying to survive without my mate, I guess," I replied, and she shook her head at me, probably thinking I was a psychopath before opening the classroom door, and a lot of eyes suddenly fell on me the instant it opened.
- I could hear them whispering and it was about me. What the fuck was about me being whispered about?
- I was feeling more uncomfortable as I kept on walking past them, but Ariel didn't seem to mind as her head was still lifted high with her hands firm on mine while we walked past them.
- "She looks so innocent, but who could tell she could fling herself to the new Alpha just because of special treatments?"
- "I heard they went to a hotel to have sex yesterday after he dragged her away from the training ground."
- "She's such a slut!"
- "She's not even pretty, with her face as pale as a dead being."
- "Hmmm, I would have seduced the new Alpha, but she had to beat me to it."
- The last one came from a girl that had always seized the opportunity to mock me, and immediately after she said it, her group of friends turned to look at her in a disgusting manner.
- "Just ignore them," Ariel advised, and I tried to divert my attention from them, but the fact that they were talking sick about me and didn't care if I was looking at them made me depressed that I just wanted the class to be over.
- "You still owe me the full hot tea," Ariel winked.
- "Today during lunch break," she added, and I nodded my head at her before settling down on the seat beside her.
- As soon as I settled down, I could immediately perceive a strong smell that was coming from the hallway, and I immediately recognized it. It was my mate who had bluntly rejected me, but the fact that his smell still lingered on my nose made me want to rip it off.
- I wasn't sure I was ready to see him again. Hell, I was never ready to see him because the instant I laid my eyes on him, I seemed to want him back and wished he would apologize to me.
- The door suddenly flung open and Asher walked in, looking as handsome as usual, and I could feel the tight knot in my stomach that suddenly loosened a bit when I didn't see Tala hanging herself all over him.
- This was unusual, but at the same time, I was glad I wouldn't have to deal with the horrible stench of my mate's smell mixed with hers. They weren't compatible, but who am I to say that?
- After Asher had openly rejected me, the news went around the school like a wildfire, but I was the one to blame because I couldn't look good enough to keep my mate.
- The teacher soon entered the classroom, carrying a massive textbook, and I knew this class would be extremely boring because we were dealing with oral English. Who the fuck needs oral English when we can just pronounce the words however we want because the receiver will understand either way?
- Just like I predicted, 30 minutes into the class, and it was really boring, to the point of other students falling asleep. I glanced at Ariel, but her eyes were still wide open. To think of it, I really haven't seen her sleeping in a class.
- I tried to stop myself from peeking at Asher, but my body wouldn't cooperate as I suddenly turned to look at the back of the classroom and his eyes caught mine before I immediately re-positioned myself.
- It was somehow weird that Tala wasn't beside him today. I wasn't complaining because the word "glad" would be an understatement for how I felt, but it was kind of off.
- The class wasn't over yet, but everyone was given an hour break in between so we could clear our heads, and to be honest, I hated the new school schedule. So did Ariel.
- "Well, bring your butt here and spill out everything," Ariel said in excitement as we were in line waiting for our food.
- "Why don't we get to our table first? Different ears are on me," I said, and she strained her eyeballs at me for some time before shrugging in approval.
- "Whatever!" She said, and I laughed.
- It was her turn on the line and she requested her food, but as I was about to request mine, she had an irritated look on.
- "What?" I asked as she kept on staring at her food.
- "Don't worry about getting food. You should eat mine. I don't think I'm hungry or crave this food," she said, and I contemplated for a while whether to collect her food or just buy mine, but I wouldn't want to waste the food, and who doesn't like free food?
- "Okay", I answered, but as I was about to collect her tray, the lunch lady stopped me.
- "Don't you think it'll be bad for you not to eat? Eat your food and I'll give her another one." She said this to Ariel, and I thought lunch ladies weren't meant to speak while serving food.
- It's fine, she can have mine. Ariel said, but she interrupted Ariel immediately.
- "She can't have yours. I'll give her her food for free. Don't worry about that. " The lunch lady pestered and it was getting kind of weird, but I see it as a way of being kind to your ex-Alpha's daughter.
- "Let's go, Nora," Ariel said, and walked away, while I followed behind with a tray of Ariel's food in my hand.
- "What was up with her?" I asked as Ariel shrugged her shoulders but shortly waved her hands in her hair, telling me to snap out of it.
- "Let's not talk about the lunch lady; I want the full juice!" Ariel snapped, and I chuckled.
- I took a bite out of the food and it tasted different from the ones I had been buying all this time, but I could not point out the exact difference. Maybe someone else cooked it.
- "He took me to a boutique..." I started the story as her ears were suddenly glued to the story and she was eager to hear the full gist.
- After what seemed like all of our breaks, I had finished the food I was eating, but we were still having our conversation because she wanted me to go into deep details.
- "He killed him!" She yelled, and I tried to shush her because the whole cafeteria's attention was suddenly on us.
- "I know and I can't seem to get the image out of my head. It still haunts me up there and do you want to know the worst part of all?" I asked as I had not known she would obviously want the complete tea.
- "You're seriously asking me that?" She rolled her eyes at me and I chuckled, unsure of whether or not to say this last part, but then I didn't need to feel bad because she was my best friend.
- "I passed out at the sight of blood."
- I whispered, obviously embarrassed of myself, and her face went blank for a moment before she suddenly burst into laughter and I couldn't keep up with her anymore.
- "Nothing's funny, Ariel!" I yelled, but she wouldn't stop laughing, and I found myself laughing shortly afterwards.
- I was about to smack her hands when the whole cafeteria suddenly became disorganized at the sound of a hot slap, and it was hard for me to see what was going on, but it seemed like a fight.
- Ariel and I tried to make our way through the crowds that had immediately surrounded the scene in just a split second.
- "What's happening?" I asked, unable to cut through the crowd.
- "I think it's Asher," she replied, and before I knew what was happening, I suddenly found myself pushing through the crowds while Ariel took advantage of it till we were finally in front of them.
- It was Asher and Tala and they seemed to have gotten themselves into a heated fight, which I found confusing. What could have caused them to fight since they were always all over each other?
- "What did you just say?" Tala roared across the room with her intimidating hunter aura.
- "You're nothing but a good-for-nothing whore!" Asher repeated, and the whole crowd murmured among themselves as their eyes were wide open in shock.
- Tala tried to slap Asher's face, but he had held her hands tight before it could hit his face.
- "I don't care whether or not you're a female wolf, but I am still your Alpha regardless, and you need to respect me!" Asher roared at her using his intimidating Alpha aura, but to be frank, it didn't work because I felt nothing and wasn't intimidated.
- "Asshole," Ariel scoffed beside me before holding my hands tight and dragging them along with her, but I didn't want to leave just yet.
- I tried to budge, but her burning eyes made me submit to her as she dragged me away from the crowd.
- "I know it is really hard for you to get over that douchebag, but trust me, you really need to forget him for your own sanity." She said,
- "Even if forgetting him is really hard, being around him or wanting to be around him would make things harder for you, Lenora," she added, and I sighed.
- "Only if it was as easy as you just said!" I scoffed before walking away from her. I might as well just go back to the classroom since it would be starting in less than ten minutes.
- "Asher and Tala, please report to the mistress's office now!" The school's public address system sounded, and not until now had I realized that they brought the pieces of shit along with them to the pack house.
- The sound of the public address system made my mind drift to Alaric, and I suddenly remembered the way he was holding me in the boutique yesterday.
- I was really enjoying it because I hadn't been held in a way like that before. I was still young while dating Asher, and whenever he requested things like that, I always tried to avoid it.
- Thinking about Asher made me realize he was a year older than me and had his birthday earlier. He must have realized I was his mate but kept a low profile, probably waiting for me to tell him so he could reject me. What an actual scumbag.
