Chapter 4 Senhor Davis

  • Islanne Lima
  • "What the hell did I do?" I cried when I realized that I had become just like or even worse than my father, because of alcohol I gave away what I held most precious to a stranger.
  • Leno, my boyfriend, left me, and that was one of the reasons; and out of anger, I asked any man to make me a woman, because when I decided to give myself to Leno, the damn guy rejected me, with a lame excuse that I didn't even believe.
  • I don't even know this man who touched me so deeply and took me like that. He didn't seem like a bad man, but I don't love him, why did I do this?
  • I ran in panic to the sea, and in a dive, I thought it would cleanse my soul, but it was just another reason to become emotional.
  • I looked closer at the incredibly attractive man lying on the ground... observing him like that, without clothes, I even stopped crying, staring at him as I felt a pleasant sigh remembering some things we did that night.
  • I had to stop looking at him, and taking advantage of the fact that he had fallen asleep, I left on my father's boat, which I saved when he lost it in a game... unfortunately, the same didn't happen with the island, the properties, and the cars. But I managed to keep my car and the house where my sick mother lives.
  • "Daughter..." she coughed. "I was very worried, you've never been away for so long, what happened?" my dear mother asked, weakened, and I felt so dirty for getting lost in that man's arms, and even more so for drinking.
  • "I'm sorry..."
  • "Lane, I can't believe you drank!" she looked at me sadly, and I almost cried with her.
  • "It was just a little, mom..." I looked away.
  • "Your father always tells me the same thing, and look at him now!" she reminded me, almost crying, I know what she has been through.
  • "I promise not to do it again..." I stopped talking when I saw her coughing heavily. "Mom, are you okay?" I noticed blood on her handkerchief and she tried to hide it like last time.
  • I left the room and ran to take a shower, and as quickly as possible, I put my mother in the car and went to the hospital.
  • We spent hours there, and I wished I could attend the meeting with the lawyer about trying to recover my dance gallery, which my father lost months ago in a poker game, after getting drunk, but I don't know if I'll be able to.
  • Since then, I haven't been able to work, as dance classes were my life and also my income.
  • At the hospital...
  • "What does she have, doctor?" I asked the doctor who attended to us.
  • "Tuberculosis..." I was scared by that word and it was difficult to remember everything he told me after that. I thanked God that it was written down on the prescriptions and left there in slow motion... I went to buy the antibiotics and had to leave her alone to attend the meeting.
  • When I arrived at the hotel, I saw that the lawyer had already arrived and so had my father.
  • "Mr. Davis is already coming with his advisor and lawyer!" my lawyer said, and I avoided talking to my father, I was upset.
  • "Okay," I replied, simply.
  • I leaned back in the chair, still thinking about my little mother, and I felt embarrassed when I saw the man I spent the night with and left on the beach.
  • I tried to hide behind my large bag, placing it in front of my face, but apparently he must be Mr. Davis' assistant, he looks strange, coming to a meeting in beach clothes, shorts and a shirt.
  • I drooled over him with that charming, straight hair, sunglasses, and a more serious expression due to work.
  • He recognized me right away and pulled me aside.
  • "Why did you leave me on that island and leave?" he asked, somewhat irritated.
  • "Sorry, I had a commitment... by the way... you could help me with this process and make my purchase easier, again!" he looked at me differently, he seemed very angry.
  • "I can't believe you did all this on purpose!" he squeezed my arm, pulling me further away from my father.
  • "What are you talking about? I'm just asking for help, what's wrong with helping me!" he scoffed, letting go of my arm and smiling sarcastically.
  • "What an idiot I was! I almost fell for it, didn't I? Now, tell me what part of the process you're involved in and what you want!" he spoke loudly and I felt embarrassed in front of those men.
  • He sat down in the chair, upset, and reached out his hand for me to speak.
  • "I just want to buy back the gallery! It's important to me, and it was sold to Mr. Davis without my permission," he looked serious at the other man and then looked back at me.
  • "Which Mr. Davis? I am Louis Davis, and I didn't understand your statement! I bought that place from someone else, and there was no woman's name on the document," he said, and I was astonished. If he is the all-powerful one, then he must consider me a gold digger.
  • "It was in my father's name, but I would like you to allow us to pay in installments..."
  • "Look, that's enough! I'm tired of women trying to manipulate me with these kinds of actions. I have a commitment now and I don't want to see you again..." he moved his fingers trying to remember something. "Miss Lima, isn't it?" I felt embarrassed and also speechless.
  • Things are all mixed up in my head, and I barely noticed when that man tried to leave and my father begged him to listen, but I got annoyed and left them talking alone. He wouldn't back down, and I had already embarrassed myself enough.
  • I left there and went to the beach again, not knowing if I was angry or frustrated, I gave myself to an idiot, and I even missed the opportunity to get the gallery back...
  • I sat on the sand, looking at the waves, with my legs wrapped around my own arms. I think about twenty minutes passed, I'm not sure. And I was startled when the man appeared on the beach, right in front of me.
  • "What do you want here?"
  • "I want to know why you did that? I found out this morning that it was really your first time, and you didn't tell me! You just tried to sell yourself to me!" I was sitting on the sand, but anger made me stand up and I slapped that idiot right in the face.
  • "What is this?" he put his hand on his face.
  • "A slap, you idiot! If that's what you think of me, then shove it up your ass and continue being as happy as you were last night!" I turned around angrily, but he held me. He pulled me closer to him and I was too close...
  • "Oh my god! The look that makes me lose my composure..."
