Chapter 7 Unbearable Circumstances

  • This was so embarrassing for me. I could have managed if Gabby had not been part of them, but he seemed to be with them. Finally, I stopped eating. I was tired and I needed a break.
  • “You should understand proper eating manners,” Gabby lectured me. “You will be going places and in no time, you will be eating at the same table with different Alphas' and Lunas'. I don't think you would like to eat like this while you're with them!”
  • I decided not to reply to all that he said. I was the only one who loved myself and I hated to say that Gabby wasn't in love with me truly. I had already put two and two together and this was my conclusion.
  • “I was telling her, and she started acting worse. If she wants to stay here for long, she will have to watch her behavior!” Eileen told me slowly. I simply watched her.
  • “I have only seen her for half an hour, but she isn't leaving a good impression at all! I think I'm done with this breakfast!” Josephine stood up and left. Now, Gabby and Eileen were the only ones left. I still kept my cool.
  • “Shouldn't you leave?” Eileen asked. “If you have a little bit of shame, you should leave us to eat. I guess you are so hungry that you won't want to miss out here!”
  • “Yes, I'm so hungry,” I replied boldly. I didn't mind the implications of this.
  • “Then I will leave!” Eileen stood up and took her leave. All I did was to shake my head in disapproval. All I had was Gabby sitting beside me.
  • “Now, see what you have done. You have chased my cousin and little sister. You should have apologised to them,” Gabby started to say. “Listen up, our relationship might not work if you can't balance up with my family. I am a very dutiful young man and would need you to respect my family.”
  • “I never said I wouldn't respect your family,” I told him in a fit of anger.
  • “But you don't act like you plan to!” Gabby told me solemnly. “A normal wife would have begged Josephine to stay. This is my mansion and I get to define the rules!”
  • “But you know I didn't start this first,” I replied carefully. “Eileen was the one who said I was a glutton and I never told her the same. I did nothing, so you have no reason to blame me here!”
  • “Will you listen or would you rather rant on?” Gabby asked. I could see his angry tone.
  • I shook my head and stood up. I was tired of being controlled in this relationship. It didn't seem like the kind of relationship I had once told myself that I would work in.
  • “Your family called me a glutton, but you did nothing about that, but, you want me to beg them to stay!” I shouted. I couldn't believe this at all.
  • “I had to reposition myself,” Gabby replied. “Sure, I know I have to defend you, but I can't do that when you aren't familiar with them. If both of you aren't on good terms, I don't think I will be able to achieve anything good with both of you!”
  • “That doesn't mean I should be the sacrificial lamb,” I told him. “Now, they will think they have an edge over me since you supported them today. You should know that this won't end soon. Whatever you do, remember that I am also someone like them. They should be the ones to be pained at my cost!”
  • Gabby stood up and hit his hand on the table angrily. He looked around and saw some of the maids standing like robots.
  • “All of you should get out of here!” Gabby shouted at them. Quickly, they ran away. I muttered slowly as I saw them do this.
  • “Don't bully them. The only crime was being born to lowly parents and being willing to serve as your maid,” I told him carefully. I was also from a low background and this could be the reason why I hated how the maids were treated.
  • “You have no issue with how they are treated!” Gabby shouted at me. “You should listen to me just like they are listening to my orders. It would help you to go far in life.”
  • I didn't like Gabby's tone at all. I was only getting to find out that he was quite disrespectful. This was obvious from the way he talked to me. I wouldn't have fallen in love with him if he was like this.
  • “You aren't the man I fell in love with,” I told him slowly. “What caused it? You never used to be like this. I might have nothing, but I care for my mental health. If you were like this, I wouldn't have begun a relationship with you!”
  • “Stupidity at its core,” Gabby said. “It shows the reason why your generation has remained poor. You have no respect for people like us and until you start to show respect, you will remain in a box! You can't grow!”
  • I was sick and tired of hearing this come from a man that I thought was the one for me. I didn't even know his real personality. Sometimes, he was mean, just like he was acting presently. Other times, he was very calm like he did in the morning just before breakfast. I tried to see what could be the cause.
  • Well, Gabby was triggered both times. At night, it was his baby sister, Eileen. In the dining room, it was still Eileen with a touch of Josephine. Both of them had succeeded in changing the personality of Gabby.
  • I knew this, but I didn't trust them fully. This could be all wrong and also, Gabby would only exhibit the personality in him. He must have been trying to hide this character before.
  • “Stop acting mean!” I told Gabby carefully. “Your emotions might have been triggered, but you should be able to withstand this. I might not accept your apology if you ask for it in the future.”
  • I didn't expect what happened next. This was supposed to be a playful thing, but Gabby took it all wrong. He came closer to me with his face frowning.
  • “Really?” Gabby asked as he came closer to me. I didn't know what he had in mind, but I needed no one to tell me that it wouldn't be good at all.
  • “You need to calm down. You shouldn't do what you will regret in the future,” I told him slowly. I was trying to blackmail him emotionally, but my words were dry. It didn't hold any water for Gabby.
  • As I kept it up, Gabby closed up on me and slapped me. I was already expecting this, so I was able not to fall. I tried to run away, but Gabby held me back. Now, he slapped me the second time. I was so confused at that point.
  • I fell to the ground and held my face. I was already crying there. I didn't expect that this would happen to me. How could Gabby slap me twice in a relationship that wasn't up to twenty-four hours? This only supported the claim that I would be suffering a lot in this relationship. It has turned toxic already.
  • “This would teach you a few things,” Gabby told me angrily. “I am not the man you think I am, I agree. However, you need to manage your expectations right away. If you think I would do something good for you, it should be in your dream or while you are imagining
  • I took in all that was being said. I was seated on the floor with tears still flowing freely from my eyes. I was in pain. The level of emotional pain was greater than its physical counterpart.
  • “I understand!” I replied. “I will never think about anything good regarding you!”
  • “As it should be,” Gabby said slowly. “I was trying to be a good man, but you have done the wrong thing by making Eileen and Josephine annoyed. If you had kept it cool with them, I might not have exposed myself.”
  • “I was going to know already,” I said slowly.
  • “Shhhh!” Gabby muttered. I had to stop talking at this point. “Eileen and Josephine are what hold up my life. If they are not pleased, I will never be fine. Treat them like demigods. They should be treated better than you treat me!”
  • “Yes, I understand,” I replied with tears all over my face.
  • “Good!” Gabby told me. “Now, find your way into the bedroom. I have built a hard-on from seeing you cry. It's beautiful, you know. Let's do something!”
  • “What!” I had to shout. I couldn't believe he wanted to sleep with me after dealing with me so harshly.
  • “March into the room now!” Gabby got closer to me. I could tell he was serious about this.
  • The tides have stopped being in my favor.
