Chapter 10 He Came Immediately

• I didn't even know the person who was threatening to wreck the place. Strangely enough, they didn't seem to know who I was either, as none of them recognized me though I was standing right next to them.
• The manager stepped out to try and stop them, and ended up being beaten to the ground. Some of my colleagues tried calling the police but their mobile phones were also smashed to bits. Some of them even got beaten up with clubs.
• Since they were obviously coming after me, and I couldn't just chicken out and let others get hurt because of me. So, I stepped up and revealed my identity as Lin Anan and asked them to stop what they were doing.
• They quickly surrounded me upon hearing that. One of them whipped out a phone to check, and ordered for me to be taken away once he had confirmed that I was the one. The group of men then dragged me into the van parked outside the mall.
• While on the road, one of them made a call to report that they had found the girl and asked what to do next. The car then drove towards the countryside upon receiving instructions from the person on the phone.
• I was taken to an abandoned elementary school. The school had probably just been moved recently, as the basketball court and other facilities were still intact. They tied up my hands and legs before tossing me onto the basketball court.
• It was June at that time, and I started sweating profusely as the sun got hotter and hotter.
• After spending about an hour under the sun, another car entered the school. The person who got out of the car was Xu Jiakai, the woman who was supposed to be married to Mu Chenfeng at the wedding.
• She walked towards me and gave me a vicious look before slapping me repeatedly across the face. I was already dizzy from the heat, and the slaps only worsened my condition.
• “You b****, how did you seduce Mu Chenfeng so that he would betray me?!” She said as she kicked me on the head.
• Her high-heeled shoes had a very pointy tip, and it felt really painful. I bit my lip and kept quiet as I was not about to show her any weakness, let alone beg for forgiveness.
• In fact, I actually felt bad for her. Although Mu Chenfeng was the mastermind behind it and I was just his scapegoat, it remains a fact that I had run away with her groom in front of everyone. If our positions were reversed, I would've been bitter with hatred as well. I was planning to explain everything to her at first, but her methods were too vicious and her attitude was too arrogant, so I changed my mind.
• I felt that Mu Chenfeng had done the right thing by not marrying her as she was indeed a very terrible person.
• She did not stop her abuse there as she continued to slap, kick and even spit on me. Even if I were to admit defeat now, she wouldn't take pity in me at all, and would only get worse.
• I glared back at her and tried my best to force a smile in order to make myself seem unbothered by her actions as I knew that my fear would only encourage her to abuse me more.
• “You b****! You're still smiling even when you're doomed?”
• “Mu Chenfeng and I are not what you think we are. But right now, I don't feel like telling you what we really are. You're so unreasonable, arrogant and ill-bred for someone who's supposedly from a wealthy family! I wouldn't want you either if I were Mu Chenfeng!”
• Her face went pale with rage. “You b****! Still acting stubborn, huh? You guys, strip her naked and take turns screwing her over! I want it recorded on camera so I can show Mu Chenfeng how much of a whore the woman he likes and wishes to protect truly is!”
• Her methods were comparable to Liu Jun's.
• It didn't matter how dignified a person's origins were, as they were all equally filthy as long as they were ill-natured.
• “Mu Chenfeng will be here soon. If you do that to me, he'll only end up hating you even more, and you'd really have no chance with him then.” I tried to keep myself calm. But in reality, I was getting scared, as I had barely escaped from Liu Jun the other day. I didn't know how I'd keep on living if I were to be humiliated like this again.
• She paused for a moment, “Dream on! Did you really think that Mu Chenfeng would be able to find you here? Did you expect him to come to your rescue like a knight in shining armor?”
• Although I wasn't sure of it myself, I had to stall as much time as I could, so I kept answering her, “You don't believe me? He'll be here soon!”
• “Is that so? Well, I'm not afraid of him even if he does come here!” Xu Jiakai clearly sounded uncertain when she said that.
• “Is that so?” Someone said from behind.
• Xu Jiakai and I both turned our heads around and saw Mu Chenfeng walking over slowly. He was wearing a white suit and was holding a black umbrella, while Jiang Xuanlong followed behind him.
• I laughed at Xu Jiakai who was stunned, “See? What did I tell you? He's come for me, hasn't he?”
• Xu Jiakai slowly calmed down after a while, and forced an ugly smile on her face, “Chenfeng, why are you here?”
• Chenfeng ignored her and walked straight towards me. He shielded me from the sun with the umbrella in his left hand as he casually untied me with his other hand. “How did you know I would come?”
• “I knew that my manager would call you right after they took me away. Their number plate wasn't covered, and there are tons of traffic cameras on the streets, so it wouldn't be hard to track us down. I've been kidnapped for two hours, so I figured you'd have made it here by now. How else would you live up to your title as Chief otherwise?”
• He was clearly pleased to hear that, as he smiled and turned to Xu Jiakai, “See? She's so much smarter than you! You'd have chosen her too if you were me.”
• Xu Jiakai was furious, “Mu Chenfeng, you cannot take this woman away!”
• She then motioned at the men who kidnapped me to stop him. There were about five or six of them, while Mu Chenfeng had only Jiang Xuanlong with him. Xu Jiakai clearly had the upper hand in terms of numbers, but none of her men dared move a muscle and just kept their heads down.
• It was obvious that they were afraid of Jiang Xuanlong, as none of them dared to make a move at all.
• Mu Chenfeng picked me up from the ground as my legs were too numb to stand. He then wrapped his arm around my waist to support me.
• I didn't know if he was treating me like this just to maintain his act in front of Xu Jiakai or if he had any other motifs, but I was truly touched at that moment.
• “Are you feeling better? Let's go.” Mu Chenfeng said.
• Xu Jiakai stood in his path, “Mu Chenfeng, the demolition of this land for development by the Mu family wouldn't have gone so smoothly if not for my father's help! You'd better think carefully about the consequences for offending my household!”
• Mu Chenfeng kept quiet and just looked at Jiang Xuanlong, who then walked over and whispered something in Xu Jiakai's ears.
• The look on her face changed immediately, and she just stood there watching in silence as we walked out of the school.
