Chapter 10 He Has A Sharp Tongue But A Soft Heart
- Bai Yunjin clenched her fists tightly and bit on her lips.
- She knew Huo Chen wouldn't let her off easily and agree to the wedding just like that.
- Old Madam Huo was upset and shot Huo Chen a look, “Scoundrel! What are you talking about? You can't be a good and responsible husband? Let me tell you. You're lucky to be marrying Yunjin! Do you want to do it the hard way?”
- Old Madam Huo turned and gave Bai Yunjin a smile, “Dear, don't listen to his nonsense! I know him well. He has a sharp tongue but a soft heart.”
- She leaned over and whispered in Bai Yunjin's ears like she was letting out a secret, “Try harder so you'll get pregnant soon! See what he can do about that.”
- She was whispering, but Huo Chen wasn't that far away. He might've heard it too.
- Bai Yunjin awkwardly stopped Old Madam Huo and said gently, “Grandma, Chen and I aren't in a hurry. We don't mind.”
- She glanced at Huo Chen. The man remained seated lazily and raffishly. His strong legs were crossed as his leather shoes remained shiny.
- Seems like he didn't hear anything.
- Even if he did, he'll pretend not to hear it, right?
- “Grandma, actually I...” Bai Yunjin hesitated.
- But she was too slow.
- “Grandma!” Huo Chen stood up and threw away the cigarette he was puffing on. He stepped on it to put out the cigarette. His dark gaze swept across Bai Yunjin and settled on Old Madam Huo.
- “Enough. Is there any food? I'm hungry!”
- The conversation stopped abruptly.
- Bai Yunjin's words were stuck in her throat. She was dumbfounded.
- Old Madam Huo was speechless, but she smiled affectionately, “Scoundrel! I told you to come back with Yunjin. Of course I won't let you starve. Our meal is already prepared. Come on, let's go to the dining room now!”
- She told Bai Yunjin, “Dear, come and help me up.”
- Bai Yunjin was stunned but stood up nonetheless with a hint of unhappiness in her heart. “Okay.”
- She reached out to hold Old Madam Huo. When their fingers touched, Old Madam Huo frowned and asked her affectionately, “Why are your hands freezing?”
- Huo Chen stopped and turned to look at her.
- Bai Yunjin froze and pulled her hands back hesitantly. “It might be... It might be the weather. It's freezing today but I forgot to add on a coat...”
- “How can you be so careless? What if you get a cold? Later, ask Madam Xu to give you a coat. Having a cold body is bad for your pregnancy in the future!”
- Old Madam Huo was nagging all the way as she leaned on her walking stick and made her way to the dining room with the help of the servants.
- Bai Yunjin only managed to hear a word or two when she noticed Huo Chen's icy gaze on her.
- The man scrutinized her from head to toe like he was admiring an item.
- His gaze was murderous and would render her invisible any second. When he pursed his lips and smiled coldly, her heart started aching badly.
- When did her relationship with Huo Chen become like this?
- They enjoyed the meal for around half an hour.
- After the meal, Bai Yunjin accompanied Old Madam Huo to walk around the garden. She also learnt how to arrange flowers. When they finally got in Huo Chen's car to go back home, it was already four in the afternoon.
