Chapter 4 The Unexpected

• In The Morning
• *Hazel*
• I jolted off my sleep, stretching my hands in the air, I yawned, I stood up, I walked to the window side, I shifted the curtains to a side, I closed my eyes as a cool breeze pass me by. I picked up my phone, I checked the time, "9:10am, what". I shouted.
• "What happened". Anita came in immediately.
• "You didn't wake me up, when you know I will be going to work". I blamed her.
• "I thought you quitted already". She said.
• "I never mention that to you". I said putting on my bathroom wears.
• "I am so sorry". She apologized.
• "I am very late for work, I need to get to work fast". I said rushing into the bathroom, bathing very fast.
• M&K Company
• I rushed in without greeting or gracing anybody with a reply. I got into the lift, the lift takes alot of time, I packed to and fro till it got to my destination.
• I walked out, I saw my boss pacing to and fro of his office, I saw Jack and other staffs that I don't know their names, I saw tension all written over his face. I opened the door, I walked in.
• "Why are you just coming". He growled, I flinched. The others stared at me. Was he expecting me, did I do anything wrong this time, a lot of questions ran through my mind immediately. As sweat covers me immediately, I haven't being shouted at like this ever in my life.
• A staff rushed in, "I did not see it". She said humbly as she walked in, I could see tears gathering up in her eyes bag.
• "How could a file disappear in your custody, do you know fortunes that file would have gotten me if I have it here with me". He snarled, we all got shocked, Jack went over to him, he patted him, he whispered into his ears.
• "I can't possibly calm down" He snapped. You are going to work here for a year without payment if you can't find that file, I give you ten minutes to do that". He growled at the lady, she ran out immediately, the other staffs ran out. I stood there observing everything.
• "Why are you still here". His voice came sharper in anger.
• "I am... I can help". I stammered.
• "Haaaa". He laughed evily. "You can help, when I myself can't think of anything right now". He said sitting.
• "I know I can, but we will have to come to an agreement". I said.
• "After the presentation, then we will have an agreement. It should be done in the next one hour". He said.
• "Yes Sir, Can I get all the details I need". I asked he handed compiled file to me. I collected it and I walked out immediately.
• *Mark*
• "I sipped my coffee". Jack winked at me to allow her do the work.
• "Jack do you think she is capable". I asked.
• "I think she can, I believe in her, I know she will try her best to make this work". He assured.
• "She arrived two weeks agoand you already have believe in her". I chuckled.
• "If it was other staffs they would have escaped or spat your drink yesterday, what amazed me was how she did everything perfectly, I wished she has being working for us for a very long time, she is good man". He complimented her.
• "Anyways, let's hope for the best". I sighed.
• *Hazel*
• I walked into my office, how am I going to get this done, I know I have done before but not in a very short time limit. I sat down on my sit, I flip through the pages, I began to brain storm, I picked up a pen and a book, I started writing on it.
• 55 minutes later
• I am now typing what I have written down.
• "Jack barged in, are you done". He asked immediately.
• "Almost I will be done in few minutes, are they here already?". I asked with my face still glued to the screen.
• "No they are not but they will be here soon". He said then his phone rang, he picked it.
• "Hazel, they are here". He said pacing.
• I connected with the printer, I transfer the document to be printed out, it came out quickly, I arranged it accordingly. "I am done". I announced, he looked at the file in my hand.
• "Weldone, let's go we don't have enough time". He said, I nodded as we headed out.
• "Can you check it out". I asked but his gaze was concentrated to where he is going.
• "There isn't any time left". He opened a door. I can see them already sitted, I think they were expecting me.
• "Give all your best". Jack encouraged. Mark contact me with an eye to start already.
• I walked majestically to the podium. "Good morning everybody, I am very sorry for keeping you all waiting". I bowed.
• I introduced myself I started presenting with images on the screens.
• I heard an applaud, a man stood up, he continue dclapping, the others joined him with happiness in their eyes.
• "Thank you" I bowed, I went to sit beside Mark.
• The man that stood firstly the other time, stood up again. "There is no need to debate whether your presentation fits our requirements or not. You gave us what we wanted even beyond our expectations, everything was perfect, it looks real, I must say this will be the first time I will be having this kind of presentation". He said everybody clapped, stealing glares from me. Mark squeezed my hand in encouragement. I smiled.
• "M&K Company won the contract, all thanks to her". He said. They started taking turns to shake Mark and I. I have never being honoured like this day, I love today.
• They left, I and Mark stepped out together, I decided to speak up since he was quiet.
• "I am so happy today". I said, he looked at me.
• "I don't care whether you are happy or not, I would send for you later for your reward". He said coldly, walking faster.
• That hurts!, He should be happy, it is his company not mine, I shouldn't have offered a helping hand in the first place. I mentally slapped myself, walking to my office.
