• I took the room key and hotel brochure handed to me by the waiter, feeling a sudden surge in warmth between Seth and me. But this also made me feel more embarrassed. Just as I was about to say something, Seth's phone rang. He gave me an apologetic look, indicating that he needed to go outside to take the call, and then got up and left. I let out a sigh of relief.
• Who could have expected this turn of events? If we were just normal mates, maybe the prize would have been a fun way to strengthen our relationship. But now it has become a tricky situation.
