Chapter 3 Keep Your Promise

• No, no, no. I silently begged the moon goddess to wake me from this nightmare, but Lila's touch told me it wasn't a dream.
• The two mates were lost in each other's gazes, and I couldn't watch any longer as I turned to leave. I was walking through the empty streets, not caring it was drizzling.
• " Love, Love, wait!" I had no strength or zeal to turn around and talk to Lila. I sat on the street bench and buried my head in my hands, crying.
• " Oh, my sweetheart," Lila hugged me, and I bawled louder.
• Ellis succumbed to the bond. When I turned eighteen four years and found out he wasn't my fated mate, I was heartbroken, but he assured me that it would be well. We don't need the bond to stay together, and even if we met our mates, we would reject them to be together forever. I was content with the forever promise he made me.
• I spent the whole night crying in my campus apartment. I couldn't face Ellis after what happened tonight. I was still hurting a lot. I managed to finally get some sleep but the door soon opened, and I felt someone shaking me.
• " What?" I groan, opening my eyes. It was Lila, her expression solemn. She pulled me in her arms, and I held her tightly.
• " Ellis chose her. He went right past me," I croak, my chest tightening. My best friend pulled away from me and held my hand.
• " He's an idiot," she said with venom.
• We stayed there for a while, silently. My phone beeped, and I rushed to pick it up, hoping it was Ellis, but it wasn't.
• The day went by slowly, and Ellis had not reached out to me yet, and each hour he didn't call, my heart bled.
• Sleep eluded me, Ellis is such a bastard.
• Both my Lycan and I were anxious, maybe Ellis was too busy rejecting his mate, which is why he didn't contact me...
• I could no longer bear the pain that Ellis no longer belonged to me, and as my Lycan roared inside me, I rushed out of the room and ran toward Ellis's house.
• But he's not here.
• I searched the entire pack for my boyfriend, my wolf constantly trying to feel Ellis's breath, but as I passed Charlotte's door, my Lycan began to out of control and growled.
• I wanted to see Ellis so badly, I wanted to feel his kisses and hear him say he loved me, just like he did this morning.
• “Alpha! Yes... Don't stop...More, more! Yes! I love you..." I feel like I've been shot in the stomach. Charlotte's groans broke my heart, and I wanted to get out of here, and my tears fell.
• I don’t know why the door of Charlotte's house opened and I saw Ellis on top of Charlotte, constantly stroking her breasts and kissing every inch of Charlotte's skin reverently.
• My world imploded! How can he did this to me!
• My Lycan roared, and Charlotte, with a frightened look on her face, pulled the sheet over her naked body but to held Ellis close.
• "He's mine, how dare you!" I couldn't control myself and growl to Charlotte.
• "Sorry... I'm sorry..." 'Charlotte stammered.
• "It's not what it looks like. I can explain, baby..." Ellis struggled to free himself from Charlotte's arms. He tried to hug me and kiss me.
• "We're done..." I felt sick looking at the man I had loved for 10 years covered in traces of another woman.
• I rushed out of Charlotte's house, shifted to my Lycan, and ran as fast as I could toward the boundary of The Grey Lycan Pack.
• I could feel Ellis chasing me, the damn man!
• After a long time, I was tired of running and sat down randomly in the forest. Ellis took my hand and asked, " How are you?"
• " Do I look alright to you?" I retorted, annoyed. I took back my hand from him, and he pressed his lips together.
• " What happens now, Ellis? I saw you fucking with another woman! Damn it!"
• "I'm sorry baby, I don't know what happened, maybe it's the magic of mate, I can't control myself..." 'he said carefully.
• Damn it, mate again. It's like my heart's been ripped in two.
• " I'll settle this. Give me some time, please," he added.
• " You and I made a promise, Ellis. How can you easily forget that?"
• " I know, babe, and I love you so much. Nothing will ever change that," He said quickly, grasping my hands again.
• " So you want us both?" I narrowed my gaze on him.
• " No, my feelings are such a mess right now, and my inner lycan wasn't expecting this at all and wants to be close to her," His inner lycan, Lias, was strong and would survive the loss of their mate. Ellis needed to stop using Lias as an excuse.
• " You want her. So you can’t control yourself to fuck her! You were meant for each other," A tear rolled down my cheek when I spoke.
• " I love you. You're my entire world," he said sure of his words.
• " Then reject her and keep your promise," I held his hand this time. " Ellis, I love you so much,"
• " I tried to reject her, but her inner wolf is weak, she's not like us, baby. She might die from the rejection," he says desperately.
• His phone was ringing, and I realized it was Charlotte calling him constantly.
• " So you decided to give up on me, right? " I asked. He looked at me as if I pierced his chest with a dagger.
• " No!" He yelled. That filled me with relief.
• " Then you will reject me in the end?" Charlotte walked towards us, she questioned Ellis with tears in her eyes.
