Chapter 22

• "ANYWAYS, what's the news about what I asked you to do? Have you spoken to Pheonix?" Cielo asked her suddenly after a few seconds of silence between the two of them. Maeve removed the lollipop from her mouth again and prepared what she would say to her friend.
• "I-I haven't talked to Pheonix yet… I'm sorry," she apologized, feeling a pang of guilt. Maeve immediately noticed the frown on Cielo's face as she stared directly at her, and even the glass of wine in her hand remained untouched. Sensing Cielo's disappointment, Maeve hurried to explain herself.
• "But I went to his house earlier before I came straight here, and he wasn't there," Maeve continued, her voice tinged with concern. "The guards informed me that Pheonix had left for something important, and even his bodyguards were absent. It seemed like he had embarked on a crucial endeavor, possibly related to his business."
