Chapter 222
- Fern's Perspective
- A few days passed, and life for Daniel and me gradually stabilized. I found a temporary job, which, although it didn't pay much, was enough for us to cover our basic living expenses. The town's inhabitants were kind, the atmosphere peaceful, and for a while, life didn't fluctuate too much. However, an unsettling worry lingered in the back of my mind—I knew the peace was only temporary and that the real challenge had just begun.
- I walked around the town every day, took Daniel for walks, and occasionally visited the nearby market to buy fresh vegetables and fruits. Although Daniel was a bit uncomfortable in this new place at first, he gradually began playing with other children and integrating into town life. Seeing the smile on my child's face lifted my spirits a little. I knew that, even though everything had changed, I would do my best to create a secure future for Daniel.
