Chapter 18 Breakfast
- Mia's POV
- The black-clad man led me through a maze of opulent hallways, the air thick with the musky scent of expensive cologne. This was the inner sanctum of the Napoli mafia. I never thought I'd set foot in a place my mother had always avoided like a plague. Being here only pissed me off more with every step. The grandeur I'd imagined I was missing. The marble floors seemed dull and dusty. There were empty spaces on the wall, and barely any staff.
- The Napoli, it seemed, were no longer the untouchable mafia dynasty they once were. I smiled at the thought. I hoped Lorenzo and his family was suffering. It was the least they deserved for everything they put me and mom through. When I thought about the way he'd deceived my mother and how his wife, another mafia princess had turned a blind eye to his affairs until my mom turned out pregnant, I grew angrier.
