Chapter 8
- ARGON
- "I advice you get her a good bed to rest on. If she doesn't feel like staying in the room with you, get that room set for her. Laying on the floor isn't good for her body, Alpha," Doctor Nicole had advised me before leaving my home.
- This left me feeling annoyed, because this woman we're talking about, I have no interest nor a trace of love in my heart for her.
- If not for the fact that Estelle and I have decided to be patient before we release the news to everyone, I would have told them Brielle is no longer my Luna.
- But for now, I just have to act like she's still my wife.
- Leaving Brielle's room for the large parlor, I met my Beta, Jerome, talking to some guards about something.
- I didn't bother or show any care to what he was discussing with them. I believe it's something that has to do with satisfying me, their Alpha.
- When Jerome spotted me, he immediately dismissed the meeting with the guards.
- "Attend to that first before reporting back to me, " He said to the guards, who took a bow at me, before leaving.
- Once they left, I faced my Beta, who welcomed me with a smile, asking, " Do you need something, Alpha?"
- "Yes, I do, " I responded, placing my hand on his shoulder, leading the way towards the couch.
- "When you're done with whatever you're doing, send some guards over to Brielle's room. I want a bed placed in there for her."
- "A bed? But I thought you had ordered that every furniture should be taken from that room because she doesn't deserve it? " My Beta reminded me of my own orders.
- But that wasn't mine. It was Estelle's suggestion.
- She decided that Brielle should be moved out from her room into a smaller room with no usable furniture around.
- I did as my love wanted.
- But I have to get Brielle a bed just to prevent her from getting any illness or pains that would attract Doctor Nicole's attention back here.
- I know Jerome would call her if Brielle gets a slight weakness that looks serious. He's the one that reached out to Nicole when she fainted.
- Now I'm to take care of her like she's the queen.
- "Yes, that was then. But since she's under medication, she needs a good bed to stay on. And besides..." I sat down on the couch while he stood, listening to me.
- "Doctor Nicole can return anytime to check up on her."
- "Oh, I see. As you wish, Alpha. I'll get a bed moved into the room. "
- My Beta bowed at me, before leaving the room after seeking for my permission.
- Anything that will keep outsiders from portraying their Alpha as someone cruel, I'll eradicate it.
- Later, after attending to some important calls concerning the company, I noticed someone stepping into the living room.
- The scent alone was enough to tell me who it was, causing nothing but irritation into my body system.
- Right at the entrance was Brielle, all dressed in a green long dress, clinging close to the door like a little girl.
- There was no need to act like I didn't see her there. I stared back at her, as she carefully walked into the living room with her face flushing red.
- She came standing before me, smiling. Her fingers tangled with the other, playing with it.
- Her behavior, like that of one who was immature, was beginning to irritate me.
- Her lip curving to the side, wrapping her arm across her body, stammering out before me.
- "I... Alpha Argon... I saw what... The bed..." She stammered, blushing more.
- The sight of her redness took my memories back to the first day she was brought into the mansion.
- All filthy and homeless. Father had brought her in like she was his lost child, taking good care of her.
- All I ever had for her was dearest, because she was an orphan invading my privacy. And she was fond of staring at me with those same shimmers in her eyes.
- I would have been leaving the life I always wanted, if father hadn't made a decision to Wed Brielle and I together, despite knowing how much I loved Estelle.
- I was so mad at him for doing something like that.
- It only increased my hatred for Brielle.
- Despite all my attacks and threats, she always had this annoying smile on her face.
- What is motivating her to smile like this?
- "A bed was brought into my room today, and... He told me it was you that sent for it. So..." She drew closer to me.
- She grinned, lifting her gaze at me. They sparkled like diamonds, almost making me wonder why someone like her still chose to stay after everything.
- Parting her lips, she said, "I want to thank you. Thank you so much for your care. It really means a lot to me."
- She blushed, lowering her gaze down at once.
- It was clear that Brielle couldn't maintain eye contacts with me. And she always does this whenever she's... She's feeling drawn to me.
- "No. Don't allow this, Argon. Remember who she is to you, " I told myself within, reminding myself of my future with my beautiful Estelle.
- Taking one more look at Brielle's face, I furiously pushed her aside, sending her to the ground.
- She gasped in shock, looking straight at my face while shivering in fear.
- "Thank you? I didn't beg you for it. Don't mistake my gesture as care or love because you're wrong. I only did that to deceive Doctor Nicole, " I said openly, so she'll know the main reason.
- "I know what that rotten mind of yours was thinking already. You thought I've developed a soft spot for you, just because I sent a bed to your room? " I asked stepping closer to her.
- Brielle was already crawling away in fear. Her body shaking with her eyes sparkling with tears.
- I will love it if she cries. Her tears and pains will bring more satisfactions to my soul.
- "Is that what you were thinking? That Alpha Argon now sees you as his mate?"
- "No, you're getting it all wrong. I..."
- Before she could speak, I grabbed her by the neck, lifting her in the air.
- Brielle gasped in fear, choking under my hold while struggling with my hands.
- I shimmered my eyes at her, tightening my grip around her neck.
- "You don't know how much I despise you for coming into my life! You were never my mate, but my father bonded us both! You are nothing but a worthless, wolfless, useless orphan! " I groaned, throwing her to the ground with no care of how she lands.
- But she was lucky to get her stance, staggering towards a wall, trying to catch her breathe.
- Her eyes fixed on me. I could smell her fear now.
- "You just have three months in this mansion. When you're done with your whatever task, sign those papers and get out for good," I said, reminding her of the promise she made.
- Brielle coughed, nodding at me.
- "I... I know... I made the promise after all. I will leave after... After three months."
- "You better, " I groaned, walking out of the room, filled with irritation.
- I heard her sniveling and sniffing, trying to hold back her tears.
- She brought this upon herself when she decided to stay back and serve me for three months.
- I will make her life a living hell, that she can't even stay for a month.
- Towards the evening, Jerome and I were settling the finance documents from the company, and checking for any errors.
- As we were working on this, my study room came flying open with a loud slam, causing both Jerome and I to turn around and look.
- Only for us to see my beloved Estelle, looking right at me with shock all over her face.
- "Estelle, you're here? You didn't tell me you were coming," I said, turning over to face me.
- Instead of greeting me in her usual manner, Estelle sparked out, "What is this that I'm hearing, Argon?! "
- "What are you talking about? What did you hear? " I asked, sensing her rage over something I am yet to know.
- "I'll excuse you, " Jerome said, exiting the room for Estelle and I.
- She drew closer, pointing at the door.
- "What did you do?!"
- "What are you talking about? Can you be more specific?" I asked, unable to understand her anger.
- That's when she blurted out. "I'm talking about that brat that's still in your home! Your Ex-wife! Why did you give her a bed to sleep on?!"
- She found out about it?
- "How did you know?" I asked, lifting my brow at her in surprise.
- Estelle groaned at me and said, grabbing my shirt, " How I got to know doesn't matter, Argon. I want to know why you gave her a bed to sleep on! Are you... Are you developing some kind of sympathy towardd her?"
- She gasped, stepping away from me.
- That only got me laughing at her.
- "You are hilarious, Estelle. Me? Develop a soft spot for that woman? Hell no."
- "Then why did you give her a bed to sleep on?! I thought we made it clear that she won't use anything from this mansion? She can't use any of your property!"
- Estelle was furious, getting all red over Brielle's matter.
- And I don't like seeing my woman all stressed out.
- To show my love for her, I pulled Estelle into my arms for an embrace, explaining what had happened.
- "I don't want Doctor Nicole telling people outside that I'm being cruel towards her. I had to make it look like it was all Brielle's doing," I said, caressing her face.
- "The mattress is just there temporarily. Once I'm sure Doctor Nicole won't be returning, then it's back to the mat for her."
- "So, if someone else comes over to visit, is this how you'll be acting? Pretending you care about that brat? " Estelle dimmed her eyes at me.
- But she was making a point there.
- "Argon, don't delay any further. Let the whole world know about us once and for all. I'm tired of staying in the secret. You have already signed the divorce papers. Let everyone know about us."
- "It won't be that easy, Estelle. As long as Brielle hasn't signed those papers, we can't be together yet. What would the elders say when they hear I'm with you, when my Luna is there? "
- "Your Luna?" She picked that statement, showing her detest for it.
- I immediately apologized, correcting my statement.
- "She's not my Luna. You are."
- I hugged her more, so she won't feel worried.
- Finally, her anger came subsidizing.
- Estelle hummed out with a cunning smile, suggesting that I follow her.
- "To where?" I asked.
- "You'll see, " She winked, giggling.
- Estelle took hold of my hand and led me out of the room. I just followed her like she controls me, only to find ourselves outside Brielle's room.
- "Why are we here?" I asked, developing discomfort over this.
- I didn't want to look at Brielle's face after passing my warning to her. Her face only reminds me of the past.
- "Let's just say hello. After all, we own the room she's leaving in, " Estelle said, smiling at me.
- She took hold of the door knob and opened it. When she swung the door open, we found Brielle and that maid of hers together!
- That maid again?!
- They both sat on the bed, staring at Estelle and I in shock.
- The sight of this maid with Brielle annoyed me.
- "Is this your place of duty? " I questioned with anger in my voice.
- The maid came off the bed quickly, bowing at Estelle and I.
- Brielle just dragged herself to the edge, looking scared.
- "My apology, Alpha. I just came to check up on Luna..."
- "Luna what? " Estelle sparked at the maid for calling Brielle the Luna.
- "She is not your Luna! I am!" She yelled out.
- I saw how both Brielle and the maid shivered at Estelle's voice.
- Who did they think they are?
- "I am sorry Miss Estelle."
- "It's Luna to you! I am your Luna!" Estelle roared, getting angry.
- "She is not your Luna. I am your Luna, so correct yourself," Estelle ordered the maid, expecting a response.
- But she didn't. She just took a look at Brielle then back at Estelle, saying, "I'm sorry, but..."
- "But what? " I questioned.
- That's when this maid dared to stand her ground and say, " I can't do that, Alpha. I still recognize Luna Brielle as my Luna."
- "Excuse me?!" Estelle and I chorused
