Chapter 10 The Arrogant Intruder

  • Miranda looked at the woman standing before her, who was observing her closely.
  • Suddenly, the woman erupted into a hearty laugh, "Hello, I am Gully's partner. My name is Liberty Forrest."
  • Gully's partner? Hold on a minute, I am Gully's lawful wife! How dare this haughty woman claim to be his partner in front of me, his legal wife? I'll rip her a new one!
  • But, that was all in Miranda's brain.
  • Let's not resort to violence on my wedding day. Stay calm now.
  • Taking a deep breath, Miranda smiled faintly and said, "I shouldn't intrude then." With that, she turned to leave.
  • "It was Gully who wanted me to wait for you," the woman told Miranda in an emotionless tone.
  • Once again, Miranda halted in her tracks.
  • "Where is he?" She fixed her gaze on Liberty, and before Liberty could respond, Miranda hurled a multitude of questions at her, "What's his name? How old is he? When is his birthday?"
  • Confronted with her sudden barrage, Liberty simply replied, "No comment."
  • "No comment? What?! We are married, yet he won't even tell me his name?" Miranda finally exploded in anger, thinking that this must be some kind of prank.
  • "My dear, you are already married to him, and you don't even know his name?" Liberty squinted, leaning closer to Miranda with a hint of derision.
  • This made Miranda freeze up.
  • Liberty was right. Although Miranda was already married to him, she did not even know his name.
  • Then, on their wedding day, she was blocked at the door by his so-called partner when she wanted to enter the bridal chamber.
  • Good grief! What a mess!
  • After prolonged silence, Miranda finally found a way to retort Liberty. "My marriage with him is merely a formality."
  • "Is that so? It seems like your status as his wife is inferior to me, his partner." Liberty smiled, raising her eyebrows.
  • Looking at this, Miranda admitted that Liberty really was captivating.
  • Each time Liberty smiled or spoke, it was as if she was tugging at heartstrings.
  • Miranda chuckled while crossing her arms. Although you may outshine me in every aspect, I am still the legal wife! I have the legal authority!
  • She then took two steps back, taunting, "So what? Even if I lack status, I am still his wife. He chose me, so your position is merely that of his mistress, understand?"
  • "Forgive me for being frank, but I truly do not understand." The woman smiled faintly. Then, she gestured toward the bridal chamber. "Please enter, Gully's newlywed bride."
  • Goodness, this woman is crazy!
  • Although she knows I'm the wife, she's still so…
  • So shameless!
  • Are mistresses this audacious nowadays?
  • Miranda stomped her foot and entered the bridal chamber.
  • It was a residence spanning nearly two hundred square meters.
  • Upon entering, one is greeted by the living room with a full size ceiling-to-floor window spanning across.
  • The layout of the residence was rather complex. If one were to describe it, it would be maze-like.
  • After changing her shoes, Miranda glanced at Liberty, who smiled. "The living room's here. On your left is the bridal room."
  • "Liberty?" Miranda called out.
  • Liberty nodded in response.
  • "You truly do not resemble Gully's girlfriend at all."
  • With a smile, Liberty remarked, "Indeed. I'm not like his girlfriend. I'm more like the matriarch of the household."
  • Upon hearing her words, Miranda couldn't help but smirk.
  • Matriarch? You overestimate yourself, Miss Forrest.
  • "What I mean to say is, you look like you're the maid."
