Chapter 591 A Dark Intuition

  • Jolted from a nightmare in the dead of night, Celia sat up abruptly, her heart pounding as she gasped for breath. Panic gripped her for a split second—until her gaze landed on Jeremy, nestled peacefully in her arms. A deep exhale escaped her lips as she leaned down to press a soft kiss to his forehead, then carefully slipped out of bed and wandered onto the balcony, the cool night air brushing against her skin. Reaching for her phone, she tapped out a message to Hugo.
  • With the time difference, it was already mid-morning on his side—about ten o'clock. 'What are you up to?' she asked. 'Still not asleep? Don't tell me you're lying awake thinking about me.' His response came almost instantly, laced with both concern and playful teasing. A small smile tugged at her lips. The unease from her nightmare faded, replaced by the warmth of his familiar presence, even if only through words on a screen.
  • Not long ago, she would have scoffed at the idea of admitting she missed him. But now? There is no point in pretending. 'Yeah,' she typed back without hesitation. 'I miss you.' He replied, 'I'll wrap things up here as soon as I can and head back to you.' As she read his message, a quiet sense of peace washed over her. Somehow, his words carried a steady reassurance, as if he were right there with her. 'There's no rush. Focus on your work. Just because I miss you doesn't mean I need you by my side at this very moment.'
