• I couldn't immediately respond to Christopher's statement, and I swallowed hard several times. I suddenly felt guilty about my abrupt departure. But, I was just scared. I wouldn't want Christopher to end up in jail. Or even just stepping inside a prison, especially knowing he was innocent.
• "I'm sorry, Christopher. But understand me, I was just scared. And I don't have any intention of leaving you for long. I am thinking of ways to help you," I reasoned. His face hardened, and he sighed.
