Xavier’s POV
The weight of the world is resting heavily on my shoulders as I receive a phone call that changes everything. We had good sex and just wanted to enjoy a good meal after a long time. Killing someone changes people and everyone takes it differently. After Leah pulled the trigger, I hoped she would never have to do that again. I have been angry with myself for doing nothing. The voice on the other end brings me back as he accuses Leah of unthinkable actions, tarnishing her name with each word.
Is this Kendra’s tactic again? I have known her the longest and kept her close enough. I never thought she had feelings for me. I cared for her like a sister but seeing the lengths she is willing to go to ruin Leah makes me withdraw all the protection I had around her.
