• Matthew took a seat and gazed out at the ocean. The crashing waves filled his ears, capturing all of his attention. However, he wasn't actually listening to the beach waves; instead, he was listening to a discussion between Erica, Liam, and Denias in a hotel room. The same hotel room just down the hall from the one Fransischa had given him a few days prior.
• Although the conversation's voice sounded very loud, and enough people were walking past to head toward the beach, only Matthew could hear the conversation.
• Matthew felt a mix of curiosity and discomfort as he glanced away from the monitor multiple times, wondering, "Is this something they do regularly?"
