• I took slow steps backwards, my eyes still fixed on this human thing lying on the ground. Pausing, I found it difficult to process the fact that my wolf had accepted and marked her. As I stood there, frozen in disbelief, a mix of emotions washed over me. Confusion, shock, and a hint of pride mingled together, creating a whirlwind of thoughts inside my mind. How did this happen? How had my wild and untamed wolf, who had always been so fiercely independent, chosen to mark a human?
• Why did you do that?" I asked my wolf in the calmest tone I had ever mastered.
