Chapter 65
- OLAMIDE
- The soft rays of moonlight played on my skin as I stood in front of an audience that Jason termed my people. These people were just like him. Werewolves who looked rather human until something or someone ticked them off. Next to me was Jason's brother, Devin, and a beautiful woman with skin like olives. I immediately assumed that was his mate. My heart thudded as Jason walked onto a platform to give his speech and goosebumps erupted from my skin. It was not the chilly wind that blew up the robe I was wearing. It was not the fact that everyone surrounding us wore similar robes and it definitely wasn't because I had nothing but skin under the robes. It was strange to admit but I did not feel self-conscious about it in any way. A large part of me wanted this and I couldn't for the life of me wrap my head why it did. A sigh escaped my pursed lips as I recollected the past few days. I had tried my best to find this David Flament but every turn of the way led to dead ends. That was until Candice in her good grace decided to mention that the persona I was hellbent on tracking down was her younger brother. She had also warned me to stop asking around. In her words, her brother was more or less a fugitive due to her actions, and asking around could tangle his already complicated life. So I had to let it go. The locator spell had given me some closure but it had also burdened me as to why my brother or his corpse rather hadn't popped up. I hated to think some grave digger had snatched my brother's corpse and done so many horrible things to it that magic could not even track it anymore. My train of thoughts immediately went to shambles the moment Jason began his speech.
- "Mother who lights the new night. Bringer of sleep and Harbinger of love, I call on you to grace is your descendant with your light. Make us one with our fated." And as if prepared, the congregation in front of me added," Flaws and sins." Immediately unfolding their robes and dropping them to the floor. Devin, his mate, and Jason did the same thing. It all happened so fast. As their robes hit the dirt and they stood in their naked glory, the dull blanket of light that covered us slowly morphed into a hue of blue I had never seen before. My hands froze along the knots of my robe as I watched the moonlight glow with such a threatening intensity.
