Chapter 3 Surprise

• For a moment, I wondered what they were conversing about and why they kept belaboring my name and that of Alpha Damon.
• My ugly luck booted in as I tripped on a little stone on my path, the sound of my body hitting the ground brought their attention to me.
• I cussed silently as the door swung open in my face. There at the door were Karen and Lucia, my uncle's wife staring at me with disgust and resentment.
• I abruptly stood up on my feet without being told. "What are you doing?" Lucia asked with her hand folded on her chest.
• "You were not eavesdropping on us right?" Karen chipped in. I precipitously shook my head in denial, I didn't want my hair to be pulled out like the last time.
• "I thought something important was happening outside, you just succeeded in ruining my mood but I am excited that you are leaving" Karen added, the smile on her face broadened.
• Karen excitedly exited the door, leaving me in confusion. Are they planning on throwing me out of here?
• The thought of that made me hysteria. I know I don't like it here, I also don't have anywhere to go.
• "Seeing that you have free time to gallivant around, it seems you are out of chores" Lucia glared at me.
• I lowered my head and folded my hands, not daring to look at her face. "The laundry, I haven't done the laundry" I mentioned.
• "Get out, I hate seeing you walking around idly in the compound" she yelled. I scurried out of her sight immediately to avoid being hit.
• I let out a deep breath after getting out of there without any major harm to me.
• Observing that there was not much time until lunch, I heightened my pace and after thirty minutes, I was done.
• Without wasting another minute of my time, I left for the kitchen, prepared lunch and served it.
• With my hands shaking from the fear of being caught, I picked up a container and fetched some amount of food in it. I hid it in my dress and took off to my room before they came out.
• I know it's not ideal for a young female to steal but I don't have any option, Lucia only gives me food when she is in a good mood and I am not allowed to go out.
• Being confined in these premises has hindered a lot of things for me, I can't fend for myself yet, and the only thing I am being provided for here is the roof over my head.
• Thankfully, I didn't meet Karen or Lucia on my way to my room. I know they wouldn't look for me until lunch is over meaning that I finally have some time for myself.
• I sat down on the floor, took out the container and began eating the food in haste. I need to be done before my uncle or anyone calls for me.
• I will be in trouble if they find out that I sneak food out of the kitchen whenever I can.
• My uncle's threat of killing me and selling my body to humans will not just be a threat anymore, he will implement it.
• By the time I was done, I tidied up my empty room even though it was without a bed. It's still my room, I also need to keep it clean.
• I moved closer to the window and let the wind blow my hair. I will be turning 17 in two days and like always, it will be like every other day.
• It has been about 11 years since I moved in with my uncle and his family but they've never celebrated my birthday.
• I am certain they do not remember my birthday but they celebrate Karen's birthday every year. I am nothing but a black sheep of the family who is hated by everyone.
• Sometimes, it makes me wonder if the world will treat me differently by the time I am allowed to go outside.
• There will be nothing worse than the harsh reality I am facing right now, right? All my life, I have endured and taken whatever it is life throws at me.
• Sighing, I lay down on the cold floor with a lot of things going on in my head. If I had been a human, I would have died from overthinking a long time ago.
• There's no one to talk to and I am always all by myself although I am surrounded by people who are my family.
• I didn't get the chance to close my eyes as my door was kicked open. I twitched to a standing position within seconds to see Karen staring at me while laughing at the same time.
• She has been excited for no reason since this morning. "I told you to clean up but you didn't, you look like an abandoned daughter" she ridiculed.
• I was forced to roll my eyes at her, how else do I clean up when I don't havegood dresses like hers? I get to wear only those dresses she doesn't want anymore and I am not looking dirty.
• My wolf snarled, she wouldn't mind harming Karen if I let her out by mistake. That's what my wolf has been planning to do, an opportunity to beat up Karen and put her in her place.
• "Why are you here?" I asked.
• "I wouldn't be in this odor-filled room of yours if Dad didn't ask me to call you" she disputed. My heart sank in apprehension upon hearing that.
• It's never a good thing any time my uncle sends for me. It's either I get beaten, tied up or scolded for what I know nothing about.
• "I wouldn't come back here to call you again, do not stress me" Karen added. She turned around and left after glowering at me.
• With my heart pounding, I took in a deep breath to calm my nerves then followed her out. Things like this have been repeating themselves for over 11 years yet, I can't find myself getting used to it. No one gets used to pain or being beaten.
• "Stop walking like a snail and get here immediately!" My uncle's voice boomed on seeing me.
• I fastened my steps and stopped right in the middle of the living room where everyone's gaze was on me.
• I fidget with my fingers in agitation as I thought of what I might have done wrong to warrant being summoned.
• "Listen carefully Olivia, we are done taking care of you" my uncle expressed. My head moved up swiftly after he said that, I stared at him in shock and disbelief.
• They are going to throw me out! At that moment, I went down on my knees with tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
• "I am sorry if I have done anything wrong, I don't have anywhere else to go. Please forgive me" I begged on my knees.
• Karen's mocking laughter echoed in the room but it was not of concern to me at that moment.
• "Stop saying nonsense and listen to me!" I flinched at the pitch of his voice. I didn't say anything after his warning.
• "You will be taken to the Alpha's tower tomorrow. Alpha Damon wants you as his personal maid" I blinked my eyes with surprise evident in them as I slumped down, the whole of my body was shaking in fear.
• My uncle's words replayed in my head while I sat on the floor frozen.
• The Alpha wants me as his maid!
• I shook my head in disbelief, hoping to hear from my uncle that he turned down the request.
• Although I have never stepped out of here, I hear them talk about the Alpha all the time. Alpha Damon slaughtered his former personal maid for a minor mistake.
• My uncle knows about this, but he wants me to go there and serve him. My legs coggled unsteadily as I stood up from the ground.
• I can't go to the Alpha's tower, I'd rather stay here than go there. If Alpha Damon could kill that maid, he would also kill me without batting his eyelashes!
